GLENN HUGHES Hopes For BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION Tour Dates In Support Of New Album - Oct. 2, 2012
Mark Taylor of MetalTalk.net recently conducted an interview with legendary vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH, TRAPEZE). You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excepts follow.

On BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION's upcoming third album, "Afterglow", which is scheduled for release on October 30 (one day earlier internationally):

Hughes: "In two years' time, we've done three albums and one live album. Now, I don't know about you, but that's quicker than any LED ZEPPELIN [albums were made], I think, and it's for sure [quicker than] PURPLE [used to make albums]. I don't think anybody except [BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION guitarist and acclaimed solo artist] Joe Bonamassa releases albums that quick. Do I care? No. But give us a break. I mean, we need to give you a break. I need a break. It's really difficult to write ten or twelve quality songs every years for three years. It takes a bit of steam to do that. So I need a break now."

On the rumor that "Afterglow" may end up becoming BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION's final album:

Hughes: "The rumor started with me saying I was frustrated. And that was… You know why I said it? Maybe to motivate people. But all it did was upset people. Remember, I'm one guy in a democratic band of five. But I really think that it's gonna be what it's gonna be. I would say to you, yes, we're gonna tour. But remember this, if we don't, don't come and shoot me. Don't find out out where I live on Google Earth and come and repel down my drain pipes."

Just like its two predecessors, "Afterglow" was overseen by Kevin Shirley, whose catalog of hit records for LED ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, AEROSMITH, JOURNEY, THE BLACK CROWES and many more has made him one of the hottest producers that rock music has to offer. Shirley — who had the idea of putting Hughes and Bonamassa together in a band together after seeing them jamming onstage in Los Angeles back in November 2009 — is the group's unofficial "fifth member."

The additions of Jason Bonham, esteemed son of LED ZEPPELIN's John, who took his father's place when the legendary group made musical history by reuniting at London's O2 Arena in December 2007, and the in-demand Derek Sherinian, made them a force to be reckoned with. An air of expectancy and excitement greets the unveiling of "Afterglow".

I think that this band unfortunately, is already history. Glenn and Joe have been taking mutual shots through Twitter. Glenn has said within the past couple of days that he has moved on. Too bad that these guys never really got their due in the U.S..

I think that we can still hold out some hope this band will last. The Twitter war was brief and was about the cancelled one show in the UK. After one comment each they took the higher road Joe saying I have moved on from the whole thing Glenn replying me too. I want to see this band live bad! Best new band in years.

It would be sad if this were the end and they didn't tour in support of it. I'm very grateful to have seen them live last year at Starland in NJ.

Saw them last year on their short run of U.S. dates. They were incredible and amazing! Love their first two CD's , The live record & DVD. Hope they still continue on as a band!

I don't understand why Bonamassa would put so much effort into writing and recording three albums worth of music in less than two years, and then NOT want to tour extensively in support of his stellar work.

I understand he's got a stellar solo blues career, but he can always return to that at any time.

Glenn, on the other hand, isn't getting any younger. They obviously get along well since they keep writing together...just wish they'd tour more.

Totally agree with you. It's a shame to have an incredible bass player/singer/songwritter as Glen Hughes on a band, release two awesome albuns and do not tour in support of this... The whole band is amazing! As the other guy said above, "the epitome of a supergroup done right". C'mon Glen and Bonamassa! Put the all the guys together and embark in a world tour! :-) \w/

I love this band but sadly THEY need Joe more than Joe needs THEM....... money wise.

Joe's latest is the best of his career.

I can't wait for new BCC.

I won't hold my breath for a tour though.

Hard to believe that at his advanced age, Glenn is hitting his peak as an artist. He has never put out better sounding, quality material in his career. I am in awe.
