KAMELOT Backing Singers Fill In For NIGHTWISH Frontwoman In Denver - Sep. 29, 2012
KAMELOT backing singers Elize Ryd (also of AMARANTHE) and Alissa White-Gluz (also of THE AGONIST) filled in for NIGHTWISH vocalist Anette Olzon last night (Friday, September 28) at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, Colorado after Olzon was taken ill and had to be hospitalized.

Commented NIGHTWISH: "We were in hell [yesterday]. Vocalist in a hospital. Show about to be canceled... But nobody gave up an inch. With the help from the ladies Elize and Alissa from KAMELOT, we actually managed to pull of a relaxed and great show! The crowd doing the mass karaoke with the band playing was absolutely amazing. We were humbled and grateful at the same time. This is unity and help from friends and fans.

Fan-filmed video footage of last night's concert can be seen below.

"Anette is already recovering, thanks to the medical staff and whatever powers there exists. The shows will go on.

"We give our greatest respect to Alissa, Elize and the crowd in Ogden Theatre, Denver. You rule!!!"

NIGHTWISH's long-awaited "Imaginaerum" film — based on the band's album of the same name — will be released theatrically in Finland on November 23.

The movie will have its premiere on November 10 at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland, where the audience will be treated to both a full-scale NIGHTWISH concert and the first-ever public screening of the movie.

Eagerly anticipated around the world, "Imaginaerum" creates a musical fantasy world in the vein of David Lynch, Neil Gaiman, and Cirque du Soleil. The movie is an innovative mixture of story-telling and music, an extraordinary tale of the power of imagination… and what's ultimately important in life.

Shot and post-produced in Canada, the movie was directed by Stobe Harju and produced by Solar Films, and features appearances by all NIGHTWISH members. The screenplay is based on a wild vision that Tuomas Holopainen, the mastermind of the band, devised after the album "Dark Passion Play" came out in 2007.

The official soundtrack of the movie, "Imaginaerum By Nightwish: The Score", will be released on the day before the premiere — Friday, November 9. The album features 13 grandiose, unreleased re-interpretations of "Imaginaerum" tracks by Petri Alanko.

The "Imaginaerum" album was released in the U.S. on January 10 via Roadrunner Records.

They should get Tarja back and pull the plug on Anette.

Some people really don't know how it is to be on tour as a singer and some neither respect people lying on the ground already.... Your verbal constraint will bounce back on you...just remember everything you say or post anywhere.... And then look into the mirror when YOU are lying at the floor whining!

I was there, and given the circumstances, they really gave it all they had. With almost no time to rehearse they were able to pull off an hour long set. They probably had to cut some stuff out, I don't know what the setlist was supposed to be, but I still had a good time.

that they were still able to make the show happen.

I like Annette, saw their show a couple weeks ago in Worcester, but I am kind of jealous, I would to have seen this with Elize and Alissa filling in as they were both great in Kamelot's show. Sometimes these unfortunate incidents make for some great, one-of-a-kind performances.

I was able to catch this tour in Chicago last Monday night, and I will say that is was the best concert I have ever been to. The sound for both bands was amazing. Currently both Nightwish and Kamelot are among my top five bands, so that fact that I loved the show wasn't all that surprising. For those that rip on this form of symphonic Metal, you don't know what your missing. The style and sound of both bands is just so multi-dimentional, that I rarely tire of listening to them. Now that I am in my later 30s, I can truly appreciate this stuff. Hats off to Elize and Alissa for filling in, I would have been devastated if this would have happened in Chicago and the show would have been cancelled.

Seems like Annette & Simone (Epica) often get sick when they come State-side. I remember Anneke also getting sick coming over. Glad she's recovering quickly. Awesome that the women of Kamelot were able to help out & save the show.

I was supposed to see Nightwish on their last US tour and they cancelled because Annette fell ill. Nothing against Annette and I hope she recovers but they either need to find a more durable frontwoman or, better yet, just bring Tarja back!

Tarja is outstanding and Alissa is killer, Elize has a good voice and Anette is ok.
