this band lacks integrity. all bands should follow the doors lead when it comes to using music for car commericals.

personaly I love hearing rock music in commercials. much better than the pop garbage and hip hop nonsense being shoved down our throats. will it make me buy whatever it is they are selling? probably not but at least it's an enjoyable 30 seconds.

Also, how you interpret the reasons for Rush to allow a song used in a car commercial has nothing to do with Rush. Its your interpretation that you are projecting onto them: i.e. lacking integrity (I doubt they lack any of that), greedy (not in the slightest), sell outs (I don't think they have ever had any desire to please the masses - just themselves, and its worked out in their favor). So you know, god forbid they decide to do something fun, because everyone know Rush is nothing but serious and have no sense of humor. (yes, sarcasm)

If a song is written, then 20 years later a company uses it in an ad, how is their integrity compromised? It's not writing a song for an advert, or making the music more accessible. The music came first. If someone was saying 'have £1m for nothing', I'd do it.

No, the band is not asked if they can use the song. They do not have any say so. They aren't even getting paid because synchronization fees all go to the label and the artist gets nothing. Ray Daniels is getting paid and Rush is not.

Even if Rush did allow it, so what? They certainly do not overdo this type of thing like some artists. I say they're entitled to it and deserve the occasional oddity.

That dude is a terrible air drummer. Just this weekend I was air drumming the intro to Holy Wars and I blew this guy away.
