EXODUS Frontman Talks Next Album (Video) - Sep. 21, 2012
On Sunday, September 9, Jo Schüftan of Horns Up Rocks! conducted an interview with EXODUS and GENERATION KILL frontman Rob Dukes at Dingbatz in Clifton, New Jersey. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked about EXODUS' plans to record a new studio album, Dukes said, "It's gonna fast, I know that. It's gonna be fast and short. Everybody fucking complained abut how long the last one was, we're, like, 'Fuck 'em! We'll give them about a fucking 38-minute record."

He continued, "I don't know. I'm just talking shit. I don't know what we're gonna do. We've got no plan. We're just going with what feels right. If we end up with another 74-minute record, so be it."

Regarding who will end up producing the new EXODUS CD, Dukes said, "I don't know yet. There are a couple of people on the table. I think [British producer and longtime EXODUS collaborator] Andy [Sneap] is taking some time off [from producing]; I don't know if he's gonna do it with us again."

In a June 2012 interview with Peek From The Pit, EXODUS bassist Jack Gibson stated about the band's plans for the follow-up to 2010's "Exhibit B: The Human Condition", "We're way overdue to do it. We've just been so busy. Actually, we've been getting great tour offers over and over, and we just keep wanting to take them, and that, coupled with the fact that Gary [Holt], our main guitar player and songwriter, is out playing with SLAYER, he's filling in for [SLAYER guitarist] Jeff [Hanneman] on this whole [SLAYER tour]. Nobody really knows how long that's gonna take, how long Jeff's gonna take [to recover from contracting necrotizing fasciitis, likely caused by a spider bite, in January 2011]. I mean, it was pretty severe what happened to him, from what I understand. So we just haven't had the time, to be perfectly honest. I know that Gary has songs, and Lee [Altus, guitar] has some stuff — they've been coming up with stuff — [but] we just really haven't had the time to sit down and hammer it all out and then record it. That takes a few months together to make that happen, and we just haven't had the time, basically. But there is gonna be another album, for sure. The way that our writing has been going and our albums have been going, it's gonna be great — I know it. What I've heard Gary noodling with. Me, him and Tom [Hunting, drums] have kind of just fooled around with it here and there, and man, it's gonna be good. Gary, he's the main driver, and [the songwriting] keeps evolving. It's one of the things I really like about the band — the music keeps getting good; it doesn't just stay the same or we don't rewrite the last one. We kind of throw the last one out and do something new each time. So I expect the same and more from the next album."

"Exhibit B: The Human Condition" was released in North America on May 18, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The CD sold around 4,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 114 on The Billboard 200 chart.

EXODUS' previous album, "The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A", opened with 3,600 units back in October 2007.

Multi-camera video footage of EXODUS's headlining performance at the third annual Slaughter By The Water festival, which took place on August 25 on the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier in Alameda, California, can be seen below (courtesy of Capital Chaos TV).

He will be back trust me, from what i understand in a latest interview with Zetro he said him and Gary are on good terms and things are patched up, get your facts in order before you shooting off your mouth you no nothing about ...

Zetro: I wasn't kicked out of the band the first time. The band split up after the tour for "Force Of Habit". We were in Japan and [EXODUS guitarist] Gary Holt announced that we were done, so that was it for the first wave of the band.

I did quit EXODUS in 2004, during my second stint with the band. I was having a lot of issues at home and couldn't deal with everything. My head was in a different place. I left the band high and dry and I do regret that a lot. We have patched things up and are good friends again, so it is all cool.

If Gary Holt said that they patched things up and are good friends again, I would consider that as a fact. It's obvious that Zetro want to be back in, so he's going to say that things are cool between the two of them. So that last interview could be Zetro's opinion and not a fact.

Why would Zetro say something that will reach the public for every one to see if its not true?

Here some stuff Gary Holt wrote on the Band Forum few years ago when Zetro sang Toxic waltz on one show of Exodus he preety much clear things up but who knows that was back in 2010

People are soooo funny! Zet and I are on good terms now, but is he returning to the band? No way. He asked about doing a song when I asked if he was coming to the show and I said sure, come sing Toxic. He used to let Paul sing with him all the time, and no one speculated if he was on his way out. Blabbermouth kids? Who the fuck cares about anything they have to say? Certainly not me. I would think it safe to assume if Zet was coming back it would happen BEFORE, not after we record a new record, don't you think?
Just a treat for the home town fans, that's all. Good fun. Too bad my gear quit on me and I missed almost the whole thing. But no one is coming or going. No news at all but a guest on one song.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

That is AWESOME! Didn't quite understand the red type at first, but you talk about clever, that's it!
Was just talking to Lee about people reading too much into things, he told me about someone saying how much it was obvious I hated Zet being onstage around five minutes in on the video, so no chance he is coming back. First, no chance he's coming back. Second, around five minutes in during Toxic, my rig went to shit and I had no guitar for the rest of the song. So what was I so mad about? Let me see. No guitar during Toxic, at home, with Rob AND Zet together for the first time. Nothing to be mad about!
Hey LK, I checked out that thrash message board, I had never heard of it. Pretty cool, I may even join up.

Tom Hunting is such a fucking badass.

Exhibit B is a really strong album, and it's probably Dukes' best performance with Exodus so far, but still...the music is so strong, it deserves a better singer.

No offense to Dukes, but he's more of a hardcore guy.

ZETRO'S 'DRY, ANNOYING, WHINNY' VOCALS GET OLD AFTER A COUPLE OF SONGS. EXODUS HAS BEEN PUTTING OUT VERY GOOD METAL ALBUMS SINCE 'TEMPO', BRING ON THE LONG EPIC STYLE ALBUMS! THESE GUYS WHO PREFER 30 MIN. OR LESS CAN'T HANDLE THE METAL.

Zetro is the man.
Hatriot's debut album is gonna be as good, if not better, than the latest few Exodus ones.
Bring him back Gary.

Agree with AcesHigh, Zetro IS the man for Exodus, Rob seems like a thug, the tough hardcore guy. Zetro is the voice whether you like it or not. Yes, he has made mistakes but this is not like a relationship: when the fans demand it, the planets align and there is DOUGH involved, everything can happen. Zetro said recently he had sorted things out, so anything can happen, fingers crossed. I can imagine how these 2 tracks from this fantastic album can sound with Zetro, I guess 1000 times better.
