HENRY ROLLINS Talks 'Capitalism' Tour On 101.5 KFLY (Audio) - Sep. 15, 2012
Punk rock icon Henry Rollins was recently interviewed by Carl of the "Standard Ass Rock Show" on the 101.5 KFLY radio station. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.

Rollins will launch the third North American leg of "The Long March" with five shows in six nights at Joe's Pub in New York City (November 8-10 and November 12-13). Henry will perform three shows apiece in Chicago (November 15-17 at Old Town School of Folk), Toronto (November 19-21 at Glenn Gould Studio) and San Francisco (November 22, 23 and 25 at Yoshi's), before concluding this latest run with five nights at Largo in Los Angeles (November 27-December 1). "The Long March" tour, which started in the U.K. in January, has already encompassed more than 115 shows on four continents.

This latest extension of "The Long March" will pick up where another tour leaves off: Rollins kicked off his "Capitalism" tour this week, hitting all 50 state capitals and his native Washington, D.C. in just under two months. "Capitalism" began September 6 at Hawaiian Brian's in Honolulu and concludes November 5 — the eve of the Presidential election — at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.

At both the pre-election "Capitalism" shows and post-election "The Long March" residencies, expect Rollins to mix timely commentary on the state of the union with timeless anecdotes and perspective gained from his boundless world travels — including recent visits to North Korea, Mongolia, Bhutan, Vietnam, India, Tibet, Sudan, Uganda, Haiti and Cuba.

Can't wait to see Henry in November. Never been to one of his spoken-word shows before.

I generally like Rollins (bit of a pompous douche sometimes), but I find his spoken word shows to be a bit awkward. He's like a pessimistic comedian without the funny. Incidentally, I love hearing Jello Biafra speak.

Black Flag, Rollins Band and Wrong Turn 2 = Henry's legacy.

Absolutely! I've seen Rollins & Jello several times, and I was left with the same impression. Rollins' "spoken word" is somewhat of a mish-mash--part story telling, part comedy, part self-righteous preaching. None of which he's particularly good at. All in all, it's mildly entertaining. However, I do love the Flag & some early Rollins band, and I also enjoy the majority of his writing. Now Jello is a completely different animal--well informed, witty, articulate, and the shows are empowering. Ian MacKaye has done some talking shows in the past, basically a q&a session, and any topic is fair game. From what I've seen online, the shows were fucking great. He's another natural when it comes to conversation.

I've only heard bits and pieces of his "spoken word" stuff, and it all sounded like idiocy to me. And judging from the praising words in the description of "capitalism", I assume he goes out and trashes it on stage in front of a crown of clapping seals, otherwise it woudl be describes as "controvertial", if he was, you know, in favor of it. I also see he has a love for tyrannical hellholes, all the while he hates the one system mankind created to raise a civilization out of these kinds of hells. typical.

Not only am I a fan of Flag, but his solo work as well. I did get to see his spoken word show on IFC and I loved it. Also was a faithful watcher of his show on the same channel. Jello Biafra would be great to see as I have an open mind.

I agree with a few posts here. Henry is a great performer musically, but his spoken word shows are whatever. I think he's trying to be a satirist but he just doesn't do enough research on his subjects to give any of his musings enough substance. He seems a little too naive, to really have a firm stance on anything. Sort of a cross between a Dave Mustane and a University student perhaps? Then he mixes in the toilet/poopoo/penis jokes and looses me.
