MUDVAYNE Bassist is 'Honored' To Be Touring With KORN (Video) - Sep. 14, 2012
KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu sat out the band's shows in Europe last month so that he could be home for the birth of his child. Filling in for him was Ryan Martinie of MUDVAYNE.

An 11-minute video clip of Martinie talking about his involvement with KORN can be seen below.

It's been almost three years since MUDVAYNE released its self-titled fifth album and little has been heard about the band since then. But in a late 2010 interview with the music blog Warwick, Martinie discussed the group almost entirely in the past tense. When asked about the quartet's musical evolution, Martinie said, "I think that what we did is valuable. It's become a cog in the wheel of music in some sort of way. We are a piece of musical history now . . . We were always just responding to our environment. I always saw the band to be important as an aspect of my life, as something that was supposed to take us places that are positive, and in that sense everything that happened with the band has happened for a reason."

MUDVAYNE did not tour behind its fifth album, which was barely promoted and sold weakly upon release.

KORN will co-headline the fourth annual ShipRocked, the ultimate rock music cruise vacation which sails November 27 - December 1.

he should just ditch those guys and form a new band.

Mudvayne had an ok run for maybe 4-5 years, then it all went downhill. Last two albums were completely forgettable.

Ryan's a cool guy. Sad to see him away from the road for so long.

Ryan Martine wipes his ass with Fieldy...What a waist of talent from Mudvayne! Probably the most disappointing band in my genre/generation. L.D 50 rulaes all!

Ryan and Matt (Mudvayne Drummer) are both very smart, talented guys who I wish would start a new band. Ryan's bass lines could always be heard on an album because he was always doing something that's more out there, but still worked in the songs. If he formed a new group, I would be a first day buyer, as long as Chad Gray isn't the vocalist.

awesome player, Mudvayne was a gimmicky deal from the getgo, trying to cash in on the Slipknot craze. Chad Gray is a decent frontman, but a horrible vocalist. Can scream decently.

LD 50 is Gggarth Richardson, just goes to show you what a Godlike producer can do with an average sounding band.
Don't mean to insinuate in anyway that Martinie is your average bassist, but their track record speaks for itself after that disc.
Matt is a decent player, but I remember seeing them 3 different times on the LD50 cycle, and he was an absolute trainwreck live. Tempos were horrendous, and whoever they had as a FOH was equally as bad. Was hoping the followup would be as good or better than LD50, but the songs sucked and Bottrill destroyed that disc. Flat, lifeless production, and uninspired writing.

Richardson is God

So what? I've actually seen them four times and everytime their bass player is the star of the show. I'd also like to point out, mudvaynes last few records are shit because they said they were focused on making albums that range all of human emotion (or some bullshit along those lines). They're clearly better at making aggressive music.. And to finalize, a super team of the best producers cant do fuck all with a band who can't play or more importantly, COMPOSE music. I don't know why im even replying, everyone in the fucking internet is a music expert and vituoso who knows whats wrong with everything anyways, thats why everyone who posts on the internet is famous and has a bigger name than this or any other band around, right?

It wasn't the producer that made L.D. 50 so great; it was a combination of hunger and drugs.

Of both Martinie and Fieldy, I think they did find the right person to fill in those shoes.

Seems like a cool person. Great of him to fill in for Korn. Hope he forms a new band sometime, since Mudvayne is likely no more..

...I think that dude is an amazing bassist. I would have expected some jazz fusion thing or maybe some speed metal type outfit. But Korn? Yawn.

That's a damn shame. After Lost and Found they went down really hard. Ryan and Matt were the real talent in that band. Too bad it seems they've folded.

Well at least Chad and go on playing fake cowboy in Hellyeah.
Oh dear....

Wow, serious upgrade from the tubby man.

Just hope he finds a gig soon that allows him to express his talent.
