BILLY CORGAN Opens Tea House In Chicago - Sep. 13, 2012
According to The Pulse Of Radio, SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman and founder Billy Corgan is opening a tea room called Madame ZuZu's on Thursday (September 13) in the Highland Park area of Chicago. Corgan said in a statement, "I'm a tea guy. always wanted to open a salon like this for everyone to enjoy. This is a place with no age boundaries. We hope to attract everyone from young students to seniors. With a blend of music, photo galleries, art displays and speakers, I think Madame ZuZu's offers something for everyone."

Corgan promised that Madame ZuZu's would feature a rotating menu of teas from around the world as well as "light vegan pastries from all spheres."

The singer/guitarist will celebrate the grand opening by giving a handful of acoustic performances in the shop throughout the day, beginning at 11:00 a.m. CT.

A press release said that the venture is "designed to serve as a social hub for the community, blending tea drinkers with the arts. Drawing from Corgan's love of music from the '30s, Madame ZuZu's is a Chinoise inspired teahouse found in Paris during this period."

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS will head out on a North American tour of arenas this fall, starting on October 10 in Seattle. The trek will be in support of the latest PUMPKINS album, "Oceania", which came out in June.

For more information, go to www.madamezuzus.com.

He actually called it a "salon." Wow.

Billy Corgan and Geoff Tate should tour together. Pretentious Tour 2012

He's Irish; they are just about the biggest tea consumers in the world, it makes sense.

Good for him.

And I dig Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins. Even so, good luck with the tea house, Billy.

I lost interest in the Pumpkins after Mellon Collie... however the new Teargarden By Kaleidyscope songs are really great. I loved the free downloads and then I went out and bought Oceania. This CD has been a constant at work for me for about a month now.

Good luck on the tea room. I'm from Chicago, but I moved away recently. Had I not, I'd definitely check it out.

Yeah. 'Oceania' is the strongest all-around Pumpkins' album since 'Mellon Collie'. He's got his mojo again.

A tea house? The owner wearing a fisherman's cap? The nasal voice?

NOT ROCK 'N' ROLL AT ALL.

Jimmy, D'arcy and James invited to the grand opening? I love the shit out of the first two Pumpkins albums, but I'd gate to be his employee at said tea salon.
