Cleopatra Records has set an October 2 release date for "Who Are You: An All Star Tribute To The Who".

As THE WHO approaches a nearly 50-year career, artists in genres from classic to progressive rock, and from punk to country, collaborate on a stunning celebration of the band’s remarkable catalogue.

THE WHO has sold over 100 million records, had 27 Top 40 hits, 17 Top 10 albums, and have been certified gold (18 times), platinum (12 times) and multi-platinum (5 times). They were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990, and have been described as one of the greatest rock bands in history by Rolling Stone, the Grammy Foundation, VH1, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Artists from CHEAP TRICK and RUSH to PEARL JAM have counted THE WHO as a primary influence. With such weight put on this legendary band’s musical output, the contributors to "Who Are You" have brought every ounce of creativity, attitude, and reverence to the collection.

The local classic rock station here still plays the version that says "Yeah, who the fuck are you?" twice in it.

I always listen for it when it comes on, you'd think someone up there would notice after all these years, haha.

These tribute things always look good coz of all the people involved that is until you hear it and then its just note for note copies of the originals - a complete waste of everybody's time.

Notice too how all the charges were dropped too. Why the need to bring that subject up here anyway? Do you think you've unearthed some startling revelation or something? You could live for 1000 years and never accomplish one ounce of what he has.

Didn't Pete Townsend get charges dismissed because he was "conducting research" surfing the net for child porn?

Townshend's paper, which he once posted on his official web site, also notes that the "pathway to 'free' paedophilic imagery is--as it were--laid out like a free line of cocaine at a decadent cocktail party: only the strong willed or terminally uncurious can resist."

Here I thought Michael Jackson tributes were insane.

It's a little misleading to state that a Dream Theater member is involved in this record when Derek Sherinian hasn't been in Dream Theater since 1997. He is better known as a Black Country Communion member these days.

Pete was never charged with anything. He was investigated because he had been on a website whose servers contained child porn. He was on it for less than a minute, didn’t download anything, no such pictures were found anywhere on any of his computers, and no charges were ever filed. Calling him a pedophile because of that is just completely inaccurate.

Don't be naive. The police arrested him coz he'd used his credit card on child porn sights hundreds of times. They don't bother with the occasional "visitor" to those sights only the sickos who are on them all the time. What he did was the same if not worse than Gary Glitter.
