LED ZEPPELIN's 2007 Reunion Concert Rumored For DVD Release - Sep. 6, 2012
According to a posting (since removed) on the web site of Belgian classic rock radio station RTBF, LED ZEPPELIN's reunion for the Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert at London's O2 Arena in December 2007 will finally be released on DVD and CD in November. Citing sources at Warner Music, the site reported that the set will consist of a double DVD accompanied by two CDs.

An estimated nine million people applied for the 18,000 tickets to the O2 Arena show, which featured Jason Bonham taking his late father's place behind the drum kit.

In its review of the concert, NME.com wrote that LED ZEPPELIN singer Robert Plant spoke little during the show, but when he did, it was mostly to pay tribute to Ertegun, who he said after first encore "Whole Lotta Love", "ran the best label in the world" in Atlantic Records.

Speaking to the Los Angeles radio station KLOS in December 2010, Jason stated about the prospect of the concert being released on DVD, "Nothing is official, as yet. I only know that because Robert had said that he'd watched it. I really do hope that it eventually will see the light of day. It's just nice to know that Robert had seen it, so I knew something, but it was nice that he rang up and said, 'Wow, it sounded great.' Fingers crossed, everybody… fingers crossed."

In an interview with U.K.'s Telegraph.co.uk, Plant was asked about ZEPPELIN's 2007 reunion concert. "I really had a wonderful time," said Plant. "It was the best LED ZEPPELIN gig since 1975."

When asked if he would do it again, Plant replied, "I don't think so. You've got to have a lot in common with the people you're working with at this time in your life. Everything has to move on and forward, in all relationships.

"I know that bands that haven't put out a record for 10 years are playing to 20,000 people a night. But that's not the achievement. The achievement is to knock yourself out. It's a very selfish thing. The tail must never wag the dog."

A few months back, radio personality and "That Metal Show" co-host Eddie Trunk tweeted, "Heard from a very reliable source backstage at AEROSMITH show that there will be some sort of LED ZEPPELIN activity around Christmas."

My mother took me to see them in the early 70's - sadly, I have very little memory of this. She took me took me along to a lot of concerts when I was very young.

ZEP was my first concert in June 1977. I was 16 and smoked so much weed before the concert that I fell asleep around the 4th song which was No Quarter. L.A. forum.

That is hilarious, man! You are a true hero to admit that! I think most folks would go on and on about how amazing a show it was before throw down truth like that!

I have to second that! Truth is stranger than fiction and most people wouldn't have the guts to admit something like that but it makes it funnier!

I have some older friends that went to a lot of shows in the 70's and they only remember half of them because they were so baked all the time! Not because getting high was more important than the music but because it was synonymous WITH the music! It was the 70's man!!!

pigchop - It was cool your mom took you to all those shows but I bet you probably wondered why it always smelled so funny, lol!

They made enough money for the show itself, they could at least double it with DVD sales

It was a show for charity, the only extra money they made was by people purchasing their music due to all the publicity.

They have to release this on blu-ray though.

Saw clips of that show online. They tuned down over a whole step so Plant could hit the notes. The key of each song just sounded really wrong to my ear. No life or soaring vocals at all. Just seems wrong after hearing the original key for all these years.

I really dont care if he's keyed down . I'd expect that . I think thats the main reason he wont participate in a reunion . I thought this show sounded great considering.
Going out on tour wouldn't tarnish the name IMO . It would give everyone a chance to see these legends . All the fans around the world that have continued to buy their music all these years.............. Lets face it , there will never be another Zepplin and I could care less if Plant has to tune down.

They could do one show a week or something to give Plants vocals a rest. ac/dc took a night off in between shows on the black ice tour to give johnson a break.

Dont be fooled, it took that long to re do the vocals in a studio. Plant has been busy jerking off with shitty side projects since this show. Go watch him kill some of the songs on youtube, he dont even try most of the time.

... the one story I found interesting about the concert was regarding the front of house sound mixing. Jimmy Page had approached Big Mick Hughes, Metallica's longtime engineer, to do the gig because Page felt he had done the best job of anyone when it came to mixing a rock gig at the O2. Plant insisted on having his own personal engineer handling his vocals, so Hughes was in control of everything except Plant's mic.

Opening number, "Good Times, Bad Times" and what do you hear? Plant's mic feeding back.

Hopefully they'll fix that for the release.

they'd never do the zep tunes justice if they went on tour now...you have to respect that. I think he's worth 160 million last I heard, he can do whatever he wants with the time he has left on this earth.

I saw page/plant back to back nights in 95, It killed! But even that was almost 20 years ago, I'm getting old. They could have pulled it off respectably then, but certainly not now.

I just can't believe it's taken this long to release it.

I do give credit to the remaining members of Zeppelin for generally letting the band rest in peace. It was just this and the Live Aid thing after Bonham died, right?

Next thing to been there, saved me L9K. They say 9M appield for tix, but fail to mention the rest of the Billion Zep fans couldn't have afforded it...at least on short notice or in this life time. Btw, F Plant, why does everyone has to have his stupid, worthless approval for anything Zep? Anybody can sing Zep music, his voice isn't the greatest ever: Plant is 1% Zep, Page 49, Jones 25, and Bonham 25%... rest my case.

a whole delegation of Atlantic Records staff, headed by Plant show up at Amoeba...straight to the LZ cd & dvd bins. I remember buying an 'early' Metallica bootleg cd at Rhino Records in Claremont, Ca, but the pricks did not want to buy it back from me, when I went to sell them stuff...

This store has bootlegs of many Classic Rock artists like Rush, Sabbath, Bowie, averaging like $20 per disc. These arent even silver cds, these are lower quality, basically homemade CD-Rs, with only a worthless piece of paper as cover. Lars and others should walk in that store someday and into a court room next...

I would have to completely disagree. Plant now, yes, his voice isn't anywhere near what it was...and this is why he doesn't want to do a reunion, he has flat out admitted that's not where his head is at, and he can't do those song justice. He does some now with Band of Joy, and solo, but he reworks them to fit his style now. Why is this bad? An artist that is man enough to say he doesn't have it, and wants to keep moving forward. He plays American "roots" music now, it suits him well.

1% Zep, wow. Have you heard Page's efforts w/out Plant? Outrider. Rubbish. I love Page, he was a genius, but you are completely missing Plants contributions. He had a HUGE hand in the songs, and sonically was amazing, and unique. and he was a great performer. Yes, old now, in his heyday, no, he isn't just a "singer". are you for real? A fan?...

Steve Marriot may have fit the bill in 1969, but man, who could have done what Plant was doing. FLog yourself my man, at least go put on Zep III and tell me anyone could pull off that. do you know how much input he had on songs like Friends, Going to Cali, many others. I can't imagine Since I been lovin' you with anyone else....this band was the sum of its amazing parts.
