SLASH: 'An Intimate Portrait' Book Due In October - Aug. 28, 2012
Coming this October is "Slash: An Intimate Portrait", a new 144-page hardcover book by Richard Bienstock, with photography by Robert Knight.

GUNS N' ROSES' 1987 debut, "Appetite For Destruction", is eighteen times platinum, has sold over twenty-eight million copies, and launched the career of modern guitar god Slash. Over the past twenty-five years, Slash's cool stage presence, gloriously unkempt hair, iconic top hat, and soulful guitar virtuosity has been the epitome of contemporary hard rock. "Slash: An Intimate Portrait" takes you beyond the glitz and mystique, to reveal the warmth, charm, and humility of one of popular music's most revered rockers.

In addition to his cherished work with GN'R, Slash's journey spans working with Michael Jackson, Fergie, Iggy Pop, Lenny Kravitz, the supergroup VELVET REVOLVER, and releasing two critically acclaimed solo albums. Robert Knight's photographs in "Slash: An Intimate Portrait" trace significant milestones over twenty years in Slash's career, showing him onstage, in the studio, and at home. Knight's talent for capturing the true essence of his subject is on full display: candid, dramatic, and often funny. These photos take us beyond the big hair, the big hat, and the huge guitar riffs to underscore the larger-than-life personality and genuine enthusiasm that have made Slash one of rock's most recognizable figures for more than three decades. With over one hundred arresting and never-before-published color and black-and-white photos, and warmly candid insights from Slash himself, this fascinating book frames a real and complete perspective of today's most iconic guitarist.

"Slash: An Intimate Portrait" features an entertaining and insightful foreword by close friend and legend in his own right, THE ROLLING STONES guitarist Ronnie Wood, and a witty and thoughtful preface from AEROSMITH's Joe Perry. The book also has revelatory text by noted rock scribe Richard Bienstock.

"Slash: An Intimate Portrait" is a treat for guitar heads, rock buffs, and pop music fans. Plus, it will be released just in time to visually complement an upcoming special edition of Slash's highly regarded sophomore solo record, "Apocalyptic Love".

What the fuck is with these underwritten books? 144 pages - is the raised-on-google generation's attention span really this poor?

Does a serious and critical music listener really care about this?
There are artists who release just a good album and they will be worshipped eternally. To be honest, where is the music after that album?
How long haven't ya been creating good music, Slash?
Just a character for the mass, not an artist and just a good guitar player.
What about a new job?

Maybe Hakk Slash can explain two things in his book:
1. How he became the master hakk slash he is today;
2. How he managed to release mediocre to shitty music for almost 2 deccades

Xhole >> hack slash
Xhole=GNR!!!

Rock Hall induction is over. Now he's free to say what he really thinks about Axl.

Velvet Revolver shows how good he can still be with the right singer/songwriter like Weiland.

I read the first one ..he shoulda called it "Pre-emptive strike"...after all a litre and a half of Jack daniels and a shot of smack affected his playing none whatsover according to his self aggrandising bullshit book...It was ALL Axels fault,,,,ive no doubt Rose may be an arsehole but at least he is an honest one .....Whatever did happen to Todd Crews family and their lawsuit for the lies slash told about how he had NADA to do with the guys death??......fuck this over-rated hairband hasbeen! Go away you top-hatted fool!....i dont care what he says about Axel (i hate em both) I admired Rose for not replying to the book.....Im sure there were "libel" possibilites.The face Rose remained silent about it was admirable....Slash thinks the readers of that book believe all the bullshit instead he came off sounding like a spoiled hollywood brat raised in privelege trying desperate for street cred through a smack dabble!...in short, A Wanker!
