AEROSMITH: New Song 'Lover A Lot' Available For Streaming - Aug. 22, 2012
AEROSMITH's new song "Lover A Lot" can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below. The track, which is a duet between AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler and the band's bassist, Tom Hamilton, will appear on the band's 15th studio album, titled "Music From Another Dimension!", which will arrive on November 6 via Columbia Records.

Hamilton recently stated about "Lover A Lot", "I like it because it's just a very in-your-face hard rock AEROSMITH song."

"Music From Another Dimension!" track listing:

01. What Could Have Been Love
02. Beautiful
03. Street Jesus
04. Legendary Child
05. Oh Yeah
06. We All Fall Down
07. Another Last Goodbye
08. Out Go the Lights
09. Love Three Times a Day (Hello Goodbye)
10. Closer
11. Shakey Ground
12. Lover A Lot
13. Freedom Fighter
14. Up On The Mountain

AEROSMITH began work on its first all-new album since 2001 last year, with the rest of the band working on music while Steven Tyler made his "American Idol" debut.

"Music From Another Dimension!" was helmed by producer Jack Douglas, who previously worked with AEROSMITH on classic early albums like "Toys In The Attic" and "Rocks" as well as on 2004's "Honkin' On Bobo".

"This record is different from the recent past, say the last 20 years, where everybody is getting in the studio and throwing down their songs," guitarist Joe Perry recently told Billboard.com. "This record is a lot more band-written stuff than there has been in the recent past."

The official video for "Legendary Child" can be seen below. The clip was filmed with director Casey Patrick Tebo, who also is helming a new concert film titled "Aerosmith: Rock For The Rising Sun". According to Tebo's official web site, the movie, which will focus on AEROSMITH's relationship with the group's Japanese fans, will be released later this year or in 2013.

"Legendary Child" recently landed on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart at No. 32 and the Hard Rock Digital Songs chart at No. 2. On the former chart, the song was the group's first entry since 2006, when "Devil's Got a New Disguise" reached No. 15.

"Legendary Child" was supposed to be included in the upcoming summer film "G.I. Joe: Retaliation", but that movie was abruptly bumped from its June 29 release date to March 2013.

AEROSMITH premiered "Legendary Child" with a live performance during the season finale of "American Idol". It is a reworked version of a song originally written in 1991 during the sessions for the "Get A Grip" album.

So far I've heard Legendary Child (sounds like 80's Night Ranger), Lover A Lot (a weak attempt at a rock song) and What Could Have Been Love (shitty ballad)......what I havent' heard is anything that sounds remotely like their old stuff.....guess they thought adding Jack Douglas was enough.....WRONG!

exactly. Don't know why you are getting thumbs down, you are DEAD on. I'm a huge ASmith fan, but people are not getting real. a few months ago, they're writing "Douglas back on baord, a return to the classic sound". Not even close. Really, can people be honest? This sound is so compressed, and over produced. The guitars couldn't be more watered down.

please, no "hater" replies. Love Classic Asmith, but ASmith, if anything, needs to hear from people to let them know, this aint flyin'. This is WORSE than Just Push play so far. I've heard 4 songs now. AND, 2 more are a Diane Warren song(again), and a duet with Reba Macintire, or some crap. Trisha Yearwood, does it matter who, please. I'm disgusted.

I have to disagree with you, BSlash. "Legendary Child" should have been left on the "Get a Grip" scraproom floor where it belonged. However, this tune ain't bad. It is also better than 95% of "Just Push Play" which was nothing but a shit sandwhich. I'll wait until the album comes out before I start shooting it down.

The Mighty BB68, you know I respect your opinion, but actually, if I may argue a point, there are a few really good rockers on JJP, that get overlooked, because after a few songs, most just shot it off(understandably).

drop dead gorgeous, light inside, under my skin, great tunes on JJP. over produced, but great hard rock riffs.

this song has a faster beat, but they are foolin' you. where's the guitars? So over produced. The chorus is laborous. no? I haven't heard a good tune yet on this one(have heard 4 songs so far), and we know there's another Diane Warren Song, and a song with Carrie underwood(God help us).

this is utter garbage. this is the band that served up one way Street, Movin out, SOS, Adam's Apple, Combination, Nobody's Fault, Chiquitta. all time hard rock gems.

next, after this goes no where(other than maybe a pop hit with Underwood), they'll try Rick Rubin, in order to regain some cred. too late.

to the thick, heavy, rhythm guitars that once made A smith a kick ass RnR band? In your face, hard rock? Hmmmp...I don't think so! Riot Act will love this crap, but I don't.

And for anyone that thinks that bringing Jack Douglas back means anything, well think again...the last abortion they claimed him as producer of was nothing more than a thank you for the memories fluff! He's nothing more than a co-producer, which means, he tweaked a few knobs on the sound board while they were jamming but no Jack Douglas production in the final mix.

No thank you, I'll pass.

But what a horrible, redundant opening. Still, at least there are no horns on this one. I'm a child of the 80s, so grew up listening to Permanent Vacation and Pump, but they definitely went way off the reservation from that point forward with all the horns and syrupy ballads. Can't stand the synth guitar solo, but I think the song's got some balls.

The 3 tunes I've heard, I can honestly and clearly state that Jack Douglas didn't do a damn thing to change a damn thing. I do think Love alot had potential, but it fell flat. I absolutely loathe Legendary Child. What Aerosmith need's to do and it's obvious, go to Peru, get back on the flake and make a ROCK record. NOT POP ROCK, NOT GLAM ROCK, But "ROCKS" with a little "Draw the Line" thrown in motherfuckers!

not enough Sunapee! Steven Tyler needs to go back to Sunapee and relearn his writing skills. He lost his writing skills many years ago.

Joe needs too stop having plastic surgery and relearn his song writing skills! Howard Stern used to call Steven and Joe, the important guys in Arrowsmith. Well little did he know...Brad, Joey, and Tom, were the three guys that kept this f'n band together all these years!

They should speak up and be heard...

That's bullshit. I love rock'n'roll going back to Elvis and Chuck Berry.

It has nothing to do with the genre. It has to do with the fact that the song is just plain NOTHING.

It's not bad. It's not good. It's not ANYTHING. There is absolutely nothing here...no riff, no memorable lyric, no hook, no heaviness, no solo.

the mighty have fallen.

Remember Toys in the Attic?...Rocks (Probably the greatest hard rock album ever, yes it's better that Appetite for Destruction)and to a lesser extent, Draw the line?

Essentially Areosmith haven't been on top of their game in 35 years. This song justifies that statement. Pretty good chorus, but where's the rest of the song?

Steven Tyler gets popular again on AI, and Aerosmith try to capitalize on it. Poorly. This is bad, real bad. Just retire to your million dollar mansions and next time you want to reform this band...please...don't.

Next.

I highly doubt they will make anything remotely sounding like their 70's material. But who knows. Like it better than Legendary Child, but don't much like that one either. Times change. Influences change. If Aerosmith came out with a new album today that really sounded like they released in in the late 70s or early 80s people would complain about that as well.

I know that it's hard to comprehend but I've always wondered how classic albums of the past would be looked upon if they came out today. If The Doors was released today it would probably bomb. If Led Zeppelin was a new band in 2012 and came out with their debut album tomorrow it would unfortunately chart under acts such as Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga. I don't like this fact because I hate today's pop but I really believe that it would be the case.

Dynamically it's good. The vocal melody sounds "reckless" like older stuff. The solo was unpredictable. I was waiting for a more bluesy, Les Paul sounding traditional solo. Sounds fresh, but vintage. C'mon peeps, what the hell do you expect? There is no way to recreate that euphoric feeling of "Toys" or "Rocks." If it is anything like "Nine Lives," I'll be stoked!

yeah, its pretty bad. The chorus is bland, goes no where, the guitars are waterd down. yes, its an "attempt" at rocking, but its not good song writing. Sounds like something they could have throw together in a jam years ago, without the weak sounding guitars...and vocally his hitting the wall(I'll cut him slack).

why is it always "haters" if someone calls out a once great band for being down right lame. Diane Warren, a duet with that country Pop girl, sharing a stage with Britney & Timberlake, American Idol, Jaded, more Diane Warren songs...is it hating to say "WTF AErosmith?". They are letting us down. One of my all time favorite bands has become toothless...

I expect older bands to maybe fizzle out, run out of energy, ideas, but this is sad. One of my top 10 albums is Rocks, Toys, their first album...this sux. Its ok to suck because Modern rock sux, step up and blow modern rock away....you have legendary Child(sad song), this average at best song, more ballads on the horizen, a Diane Warren song promised, and a duet with Hannah Montana, and you say "this album is going to kick ass?".

Zbtrocker, I like you, but let's set the bar higher! come on man, call these guys out. No more Jadeds etc. Give us an attempt at REALLY rockin'.

Are all the blabber-tools so harshly criticizing the track? It's not that bad at all. It sounds like a Permant Vacation or Pump track & it's not even over produced. I agree Rocks is probably their best album, but we'd all be naive to expect them to sound like that again. Decades of fame & fortune don't allow albums like that.

Any band would be extremely lucky to have an album that good. I'm sure Aerosmith are trying to make another "Rocks" They know damn well that's there best album. now there you go, you said it. they may be trying, but let's face it, its not happenin'. Believe me, I want one last gasp from ASmith, but this aint it. Their will be no Rocks, just as the Stones will not deliver another Exile, so on and so on. Jack Douglas doesn't own a time machine.

"I've heard worse", not what I want to hear if I'm serving up a new album...I used to blame Tyler for this "new" Asmith, this direction, pop rubbish, but I think JPerry's well on board.

As usual, your right on the money. I know realistically, that Aerosmith will never return to their glory days of long ago in days untold. I even liked a lot of mid-Aerosmith, with Get a Grip and Perm. Vaca. But I can clearly see that nothing has changed from their last release to this one. More Diane Warren ballads on the way, A duet with Carrie Underwood on the way. Aerodeth, sure Aerosmith is a great act to see live in concert. With the back catalog of songs and tour vets, they know how to put on a great show. No denying that. But I can guarantee you that they won't be remembered for Lover alot but rather"Blood stains the ivories on my daddy's baby grand, Ain't seen the daylight since we started this band, No More NO more, No More No moreeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Lover A Lot could easily fit in with Permanent Vacation,Pump era Aerosmith.Aerodeth is right about Hamilton and Kramer, this song does have a sweet groove.Hey Aerodeth check out Oh Yea,has a 70's Smith vibe.

This album is to Aero what ADKOT is to VH. People love to rag on it but it truly is a good album.

wrong, ADKOT is rippin'. there's not one ounce of phoney pop cheese. While VH cheated a bit using many old demo songs, note for note, they made a decided effort to return to basics, and just let 'er rip. I hear NOTHING like that here. really?

need to hear it on a nice stereo instead of my 2 tiny crap computer speakers - BUT: loved the guitar solo, loved the opening , loved that there's no fat on the song, cool groovy bass

BUT: maybe someone with recording/technical experience can help me out here - why does it sound so "dry" ?

I can click into my music library on any song from Journey Escape or Journey's Greatest Hits (songs that were recorded 30 years ago) and they FLY out of the speaker with some serious snap crackle and pop, so clear and rich , I'm not talking about "volume" , I'm talking about how each instrumenrt is clear and distinct and "live" sounding with massive reverb or "echo"

why does the new Aerosmith song sound so flat, dry "grey", or even muffled ? I really like the song after only one listen, but why does it sound so flat compared to Journey's Escape/Departure/Infinity/Evolution/Greatest Hits ?

I'm NOT trying to compare Journey to Aerosmith as a band, I'm talking about the sound of the recording. Why does it sound like it was recorded in a tiny closet and those old Journey records sound like they were recorded in a big church cathedral.

Anyone ?

Aerosmith are a great band, true blues-tinted old-school rock n roll.

It's a combination of things.first off,,Aerosmith and Journey play two totally different styles of Rock.Lover A Lot is a down and dirty rocker, the likes of which Journey has never reached even back in the 80's.While the members of Journey are good musicians, their songs are almost always too clean and polished. Also, the version of Lover A Lot we are listening to on sound cloud isn't as good as the version that will be on the new album.
