METALLICA: Official Footage From Seventh Mexico City Concert - Aug. 20, 2012
Official Metallica.com footage of METALLICA's pre-show tuning-room jam and "…And Justice For All" performance on August 7 at the seventh concert of the band's eight-date run at Palacio de los Deportes (Sports Palace) in Mexico City can be seen below.

METALLICA's setlist for August 7 concert was as follows:

01. Creeping Death
02. For Whom the Bell Tolls
03. Fuel
04. Ride the Lightning
05. One
06. Cyanide
07. The Memory Remains
08. No Remorse
09. Sad But True
10. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
11. ...And Justice for All
12. Fade to Black
13. Master of Puppets
14. Battery
15. Nothing Else Matters
16. Enter Sandman

Encore:

17. Hit the Lights
18. Seek & Destroy

Two members of METALLICA's road crew caught fire during each of the Mexico concerts, as the two stagehands were seen struggling with a malfunctioning pyro launcher during "Enter Sandman" when both were suddenly engulfed in flame. As James Hetfield called for the band to stop playing, other crew members doused the men with fire extinguishers and took them off the stage in stretchers, with the band resuming its show a few minutes later.

A spokesperson for the promoter said the stunt was "all part of the show," and in fact METALLICA has staged this type of "accident" before during its 1997 tour, on which the show ended with the stage seemingly collapsing around the band as one crew member caught fire and another dangled upside down from the fallen lighting rig. The effect was caught on the band's "Cunning Stunts" DVD.

The show on July 28 marked the debut of a new 140-foot-by-50-foot stage that features "colossal components and striking visual elements spanning METALLICA's entire 30-year career," meaning that the "accident" stunt could be back for an encore.

At a press conference before the show, frontman James Hetfield said that the band was focused on "staying alive" while performing alongside the "dangerous elements" of the new production, with bassist Robert Trujillo adding, "Like James said, it's very dangerous — we've got stuff flying every which way."

A post in the "Tour Journal" section of METALLICA's official web site related that "shit really hit the fan (during 'Enter Sandman' with) loud bangs, random fireworks, falling towers, falling spot light guy, falling scaffolding, guy was caught on fire . . . then a complete blackout."

METALLICA played the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco earlier in the month and is scheduled to perform two shows in late August in Vancouver, which will be filmed for the band's upcoming 3D movie.

Seriously, two questions.

1. Who is asking for "The Memory Remains"?

2. Who in the band is threatening to quit if they don't play "The Memory Remains" at every show?

There are seriously at least 25 better songs off Load and Re-Load that could be subbed in at least ONCE in a while, no?

Because, like Fuel, Memory is a crowd pleaser that NEVER gets old.

But you're right in one aspect. The material on Load and ReLoad is very underappreciated and other material should be played live more often.

....hell, that goes for every other song that fans bitch about. Cyanide, Sandman, Nothing Else Matters....the list goes on. All great fucking tunes, no idea why the constant complaints.

If someone is going to continue whining about the similar setlists, then don't fucking purchase a ticket or watch the youtube footage. How hard is that? Exactly.....not hard. Go plague somebody else's time.

Lars is the GOD of drums. I saw them in 89 and they still make me turn it up and bang my head and pop open some natural ice brews.

i go back and forth between AJFA and Battery as my top favorite metallica songs. AJFA is up there in terms of the best structured song ever written in metal.

they should but aint my bitch in the setlist in place of Memory. far better song and just as 'catchy'

I love how everyone is freaking about how bad Load and Reload are and they were the most listenable Metaliica since AJFA. Listen to all the albums and tell me I'm wrong. Death Magnetic is simply unlistenable with that snare and I haven't heard anything worth listening since.

To that guy above saying James was dissing Load. Get a clue, dumbass. He was MOST LIKELY being sarcastic. He loves that album. As do LOTS of TRUE Metallica fans wether you like it or not. I'm all for their first four albuns, but if you can't appreciate an album like Load for the music itself rather than being "a Metallica album" then you have absolutelkly no idea what good music is.

I hated load when it came out and so did EVERY metallica fan other than the pop fans who got into the black album through the heavier mainstream guitar stuff of the early 90s albums, g n' r, nirvana,...

and there were plenty of reasons to hate metallica then. lars ulrich declaring metal dead in the press and branding their fans as moronic minority, those awful promo photos, and the list goes on.
all their creative decision and all fair, but this is when hardcore metallica fans went out, including me.

and you know why? I surely did not like what I hear and saw connected to metallica, but that was not because of the short hair, "growing up", artistic approach, or lars & kirk playing bono & the edge - that was because load was the first metallica album that had a lot of WEAK filler tracks on it.

These days, I like Ain't my Bitch, The House that Jack built (yes, underrated), Bleeding me and Mama Said.
but please nobody tell me Reload was a good album. It was a steaming pile of piss-poor weak shit by this band's former standard and by the standard of Seattle's dying Indie scene as well.

I know James loves "Fuel", and "The Memory Remains" is a great way to get the crowd involved, but jeez, SOMETHING from 'Load' wouldn't kill them! I know Lars doesn't dig "Until It Sleeps", but how about "Hero of the Day" or "Ain't My Bitch"?
