CRIMSON GLORY: Essen Fan-Filmed Video Footage Posted Online - Aug. 19, 2012
Fan-filmed video footage of CRIMSON GLORY's August 17 concert at Turock in Essen, Germany can be seen below.

CRIMSON GLORY vocalist Todd La Torre recently joined QUEENSRŸCHE as the replacement for Geoff Tate.

La Torre, who says that QUEENSRŸCHE has been his favorite band since he was 15 years old, first met QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Michael Wilton at this year's NAMM convention in January in Anaheim, California.

Todd La Torre joined CRIMSON GLORY in April 2010 and has played a number of shows with the band during the past two years.

La Torre made his first public appearance with CRIMSON GLORY at ProgPower USA X as one of seventeen guest performers paying tribute to Midnight, the band's original singer.

Essentially unknown to the mainstream progressive metal scene, La Torre spent 22 years earning his stripes and solidifying himself as an unquestionable talent behind the drum kit of various hard rock and heavy metal projects in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. However, his vocal aspirations went largely unfulfilled until 2009 when Matt LaPorte (JON OLIVA'S PAIN), who had only heard La Torre sing on a few occasions, casually mentioned to CRIMSON GLORY guitarist Jon Drenning that he might make a nice addition to the already stellar lineup of performers the band had accumulated. It was only a short time later that La Torre found himself at the band's rehearsal studio, and the pieces began to fall into place.

Midnight passed away in 2009 due to long-term health complications.

it's sure that this whole QR will benefit Crimson Glory (whose first two and Astronomica are magnificent albums) but it's also quite sure that they will have to release a new album and as soon as possible if they want to gain something more from this unexpected publicity. After all this is what ruined this fantastic band: the complete lack of concistency in reaqlising new material...The last one was released in freakin' 1999. By the way Todd sounds better with Crimson Glory at least right now...

well I 'm not sure that CG "deserves" him more than QR, because both bands have made crucial mistakes, shooting themselves in their feet at some point in their carreer...
CG, after releasing two seminal albums in their genre, chose to continue with 'Strange and Beautiful", an LP that made no sense in terms of progression and logic while after that, they forgot that they must release albums from time to time in order to keep the fans interested.
On the other hand QR continued to release album after album which we the fans hoped that they were never released in the first place...Talking about suicidal moves from both parties!
Either way it's funny that both -once huge or at least promising bands- need a fairly unknown singer to revitalise their career....

Agreed, Todd sounds waaay better singing w/ CG than w/ QR @ this point. He has a natural rasp in his higher register that he tries not to use on the old QR material b/c GT had a very clean high register on those first 5 QR records. He is trying too hard to sound like GT. I for one would rather hear him use his natural voice and actually hit the notes.

Is an amazing disc. Sure, I was dissapointed when I first heard it ... but it's unique and progressive in it's way! Certainly worlds better than Queensryche's later efforts.

Yep, you nailed it my friend!

@Voivodling
You're right about S&B but think about it if we were back when it first came out - but I guess we all know the answer of how it was recieved back at its time of release. You know in 2012 some people have even accepted albums such as Turbo if you get my point...

With ya, but if that was Crimson Glory's attempt to go "Glam" to reflect the times, it was a total failure. Gospel singers? Strange beats? No, they had a better chance with Lonely off Transcendence than they ever did with that. I actually was there when it first came out, bought it first day ... people may not like it, but it didn't sound like what was coming out at the time either. Hails!

...was that CG was truly one of the best prog-metal bands of that era, going toe-to-toe with QR, DT, & Fates Warning with the CG debut and Trancendence. They really were set to challenge these bands for tops of the genre, and instead of sticking to the type of music that had earned them a rabid fan base, they completely switched their shit and released something that COMPLETELY alienated old fans, while completely failing to pick up new fans. I was a huge fan back in the day, and was ECSTATIC leading up to S&B release day. I popped it in the CD player, and wasn't disappointed, I was PISSED. My favorite band had completely sold-out. Gospel singers, sax solos, and blues rock riffs that belonged on a Bulletboy's album. I recently saw S&B at a used CD shop for $4 and picked it up to see if it was as terrible as I remembered it. It definitely was. Biggest release-day disappointment EVER.
