GEOFF TATE Unveils New Bus For Upcoming QUEENSRŸCHE 'Anniversary' Tour - Aug. 18, 2012

Singer Geoff Tate (QUEENSRŸCHE) has posted the following message on his Facebook page:

"Welcome 'Tate 1!' I have a new tour bus for my upcoming solo tour and QUEENSRŸCHE tours [see photo below]. She is about to go through her revamp to be ready to start touring this fall. She will be all custom and I plan on sharing this exciting experience with my fans who make my tours tours happen by having a launch party for her in October of this year. I will keep you posted on her progress. She has a long pedigree of famous tours but started her career as the tour bus for THE EAGLES on the 'Hotel California' tour."

Tate revealed last week that he will support ALICE COOPER on a Canadian tour in November, and will embark on a QUEENSRŸCHE "anniversary tour" in 2013 backed by an "all-star lineup" of musicians.

Tate's personal web site, GeoffTate.com, was recently upgraded with a new banner that reads "Geoff Tate: The Voice Of QUEENSRŸCHE." He is also billed on the web site for booking agency Monterey International as "QUEENSRŸCHE Starring Geoff Tate: The Original Voice." The band's lineup isn't listed.

Guitarist Michael Wilton, drummer Scott Rockenfield, bassist Eddie Jackson and Parker Lundgren (guitar) announced on June 20 that they were parting ways with Geoff Tate and recruiting La Torre of CRIMSON GLORY as his replacement.

Wilton, Jackson and Rockenfield defeated Tate's motion for a preliminary injunction on July 13 that would have kept them from touring and operating under the band name,

Tate and his wife, Susan, QUEENSRŸCHE's former manager, filed a lawsuit against Geoff's ex-bandmates on June 22 in King County Superior Court over whether he should be awarded the QUEENSRŸCHE name after being dismissed from the group in June. Their complaint states Rockenfield, Wilton and Jackson wrongfully fired the singer and are tarnishing the group's brand by attempting to move forward without him.

If the case goes to trial, the date is set for November 18, 2013.

I sure wouldn't be posting my bus was used for the Hotel California tour. That's from 1976 which puts the bus three times the age of the Basement Dwelling Blabber Trolls.

This deal is likening it to the 1980 version of Deep Purple which had the original singer, Rod Evans, touring with a bunch of replacement musicians. Now how many people would consider that the "real" Deep Purple? It did have the original "voice", right?

Well, as the diminishing number of Geoff Taint fans keep pointing out, Geoff Taint was lead singer for 30 years. Rod Evans, scammer that he was, only had the first two Deep Purple albums in his credits. Compare him to Paul Di'Anno, and if Fat Paulie had tried to tour under the name Iron Maiden he would have rightly been sued for it.

Of course, if you take a better comparison, like say Rob Halford, or maybe Ozzy Osbourne who was also fired, you see that the long time lead singers did not attempt to take over their previous bands. Say what you want about Sharon Osbourne, curse her for the 50% Black Sabbath lawsuit bitch move, but she still didn't try to completely take over Black Sabbath and drive the other guys out. She doesn't have to, because Ozzy's solo career surpassed his original band. Geoff Taint should work towards the same goal, instead of spitting on his former bandmates legally and literally.

Bottom line: I am a life long Queensryche fan (since the ep) who has enjoyed the fact that every album has been different from the previous ones.

: If the other guys had strong ideas that connected with the singer, they would have been used. No one would reject the next "Kashmir" out of pettiness.

: If you can't find a way to work with the singer in ANY band, you're fucked when it comes to scoring writing credits.

: It must be extremely difficult and stressful to try to maintain a band for a decade or more in an artistically disfunctional relationship.

: The new singer is simply the next "Ripper" Owens.

: I hope they both do well (see first the start of this post)

Except for the fact that Tate sang every Queensryche song ever released, while these guys only performed on a handful of albums, which are (with the exception of Di'Anno's Maiden work) not considered among the hightlights of their respective bands.

Glaze with Pantera: 3 (obscure) albums;
Turbin with Anthrax: 1 album;

Is this guy for real? He's putting together an "All Star" line up to play Queensryche songs??? Why??? Didn't they just do a 30th Anniversary Tour, which was the worst show I've ever seen Queesnryche perform (I caught every tour from Empire on). What's Geoff gonna do now? Up his game and finally sing Take Hold and QOTR every night? Please......
Geoff owes his fans who supported him for so long an apology for his behavior and making this band a soap opera. Admit it Geoff, you have some sort of anger issue, especially when you're threaten your long time bandmates (or as you called them in previous interviews, your "brothers") with violence. I just hope Eddie Trunk asked him real questions like "What went through your mind when you spit on your drummer several times during that show in Brazil?"

i wish both parties the best, but there's no way tate will win a lawsuit. queensryche is a business with multiple partners/owners, and he was voted out by a majority. the end. i hope his solo album is good, but it'll probably be watered down rock like every queensryche release since hitnf. ugh.

i hope the other guys put out a quality new album under the queensryche name. i wasn't overly impressed by the new singer's live performance clips - but if they can put out a killer metal album that fits stylistically with the first 4 queensryche releases, they will gain a ton of fan respect. until that happens the jury is out though.

The first three sentences of your post are the entire legal situation. There's nothing more to it, but of course greedy lawyers and an arrogant mentally disturbed former lead singer will not stop the conflict any time soon.

So the other guys will have to continue to spend their money in court, and eventually they will have enough legal victories to force Geoff Taint to remove the word "Queensryche" from his bus, website, promotional flyers, etc. You know, you'd think if Geoff Taint was this arrogant, he would believe that his name was so valuable that he could tour under that alone and bury his former band at the box office. Obviously he knows this is not so. I guess he is sane after all, just the biggest asshole of 2012.

10: The catering is going to be of much lower quality.
9: The lighting guy is only devoting 1/10th of the rigging to his act because of legal fees.
8: The sound guy only has 8 channels out 48 for his act because of legal fees
7: The first eight rows will have to hold up plastic sheets.
6: Insurance company raised his liability rates.
5: Continue drinking and smoking cause it's so good for him and "the voice".
4: Offer a cover album of standards, ala Rod Stewart.
3: Charge fans for meet and greet to make up for legal costs.
2: Part of the show he will dabble in country music, ala Bret Michaels and Bon Jovi.
1: Just in case, the entire all-star backing band will have to play on stage with spit shields cause .... you never know.

Read the above and notice how they didn't include that redundant poorly worded bit that was on the previous Tate story a couple days ago. I'm referring to the part where Kings X, James LaBrie, Fates Warning and Pain of Salvation are mentioned, and some assumed it was talking about some of the guests on Tate's 'Metal' CD on the Insideout label. I think what was meant was that the above mentioned artists also are on the same label. I think it was poorly worded on purpose to give Geoff a bigger boost, but 'tis only a mirage. Probably the same goes for using the word 'Metal' and 'Electric'.

The who owns the band name is simple. The moment a important member leave the band should change the name.
Sorry but Ronnie and Bruce should never be made to sing other peoples material.
If you called AC/DC something different after Bon died does the music sound different? I would much rather hear music from flick,fly or even blow than have to hear Brian sing one of the 7 or 8 Bon tracks every night.
Geoff is a pompous ass. His sexuality means nothing unless you question your own.

If bands stopped using their original name the second any original member left, you would have no original band names except ZZ Top and U2 today. Clutch would be another one. Can anyone name one or two more? That would be a very short list.

Legally, all but one of the original members can carry on with the original name, as any number of court cases have established. Eventually it can and does go all the way to only one original member carrying on the original name -- take a bow, Axhole Rose. The rest of you, vote with your wallets.

Geoff's Queensryche will obviously keep up the musical direction that the band has taken for the last 20 years, while Wilton's Ryche will try to recapture the 80's.

I'm interested in seeing how many people prefer the direction Queensryche took after Empire, and will take Geoff's Ryche over Wilton's.

Hi Geoff.

There's no 'Wilton's Ryche' and 'Geoff's Queensryche', it's Queensryche and some dickhead they fired rattling from toilet to toilet in a puke stained bus that's done more miles than a space shuttle.

And the fact that you have to come on here and even ask that question shows how out of touch you are with your ex-bands fans which is one of the reasons you ended up getting binned in the first place.

That and the violence and the spitting and you not being able to sing 60% of your ex-bands back catalogue, you bunny boiling bellend.
