KATATONIA Frontman Talks 'Dead End Kings' Album In New Video Interview - Aug. 17, 2012

RockNLive.org recently conducted an interview with vocalist Jonas Renkse of Swedish dark rockers KATATONIA. You can now watch the chat below.

KATATONIA's new album, "Dead End Kings", is scheduled for release on August 28 (one day earlier internationally) via Peaceville Records. The CD, which will feature a guest appearance by Norwegian singer Silje Wergeland (THE GATHERING), was recorded over a two-month period at Stockholm's Ghost Ward studios and the band's new, as-yet-unnamed headquarters. David Castillo returned to "twiddle the knobs," while band co-founders Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström and Jonas Renkse handled the rest of the production duties.

I've been big into this band forever and had the privilege of opening for them twice. They just get better and better with each album. "Dead End Kings" is pre-ordered and I'm counting down the days.

Saw them with Opeth in Nashville last year and goddamn their songs are fucking heavy as shit live! Been a fan Last Fair Deal but never imagined they would be as heavy as they are. Jonas sounded like he was in the studio. Top notch, dont miss them if they come by.

Katatonia is one of my absolute favorite bands. I got Dead End Kings the other day, listened to the album twice since I got it.

Even after two listens, I don't remember a single part of the album.
So far none of the tracks jumped out to me as with previous albums, and overall sounded a little dull... well, not 'dull', but there was a distinct lack of progression from the previous two albums, more so Night Is The New Day.

I will give it more time, though. I love Katatonia too much to let it slide after one listen. Hopefully my mind is changed in time.
