LED ZEPPELIN's 2003 DVD Certified Thirteen Times Platinum - Aug. 17, 2012
LED ZEPPELIN's double-disc DVD, entitled simply "Led Zeppelin DVD", was certified thirteen times platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) last month for sales in excess of 1.3 million copies in the USA alone. (Editor's note: According to Nielsen SoundScan, "Led Zeppelin DVD" has sold 1.229 million copies in the USA so far.)

Released in May 2003 by Atlantic Records, "Led Zeppelin DVD" features nearly five and a half hours of footage culled from just a handful of performances which were ever filmed during the band's extraordinary lifetime. Featured are performances from: London's Royal Albert Hall in January 1970, just one year after the release of their debut album, their triumphant five-night run at London's Earl's Court in May 1975, and their record-breaking shows at England's Knebworth Festival in August 1979, just one year before the death of drummer John Bonham led to the band's dissolution. Also included are songs from New York's Madison Square Garden in July 1973, which were not included in "The Song Remains The Same" concert film, the only previously released live ZEPPELIN footage. Other highlights of the DVD include: extremely rare television appearances, among them a performance for Danish television in March 1969, promotional clips, TV interviews, behind-the scenes material, and even a bit of fan-shot "bootleg" footage.

Zeppelin made some good music, but it held Plant back. With his solo music his melodies are more free.

Awesome DVD. Especially that Royal Albert Hall gig from 1970. They were absolutely untouchable on that one. By 1979 though you can tell they're already sort of fried!

I wish Sabbath would do the same with that 1970 gig in Blegium that's all over Youtube (and no it's not in Paris, it was filmed by a Belgian television team).

13,000,000...amazing achievement.

I'm not a Zeppelin fanatic, but I do love them, especially I, II and IV. What they accomplished artistically and commercially is simply amazing.

I really wonder where they'd be as a band today had Bonham not died.

agreed. Amazing DVD, they were so raw and hungry in 1970. I'd like to see more footage from 72, by '73 Plant's voice has lost some(sings in the lower register on many song)....still good later in the decade, but declining...very comprehensive DVD though.

...esp the Royal Albert Hall stuff and 1975 show...that's vintage.

The stuff from Knebworth was ok, but you could tell they were on the way out by then. Page was rail-thin from drugs...

What a fantastically blessed rock band. Absolutely perfect. I was lucky to have seen them as Plant and Page as i'm sure many of the panel have.I do believe there was no way Robert was ever going to reform under the moniker "LED ZEPPELIN". Too many bad vibes. The story as most of you should know is quite ugly when you begin to read about the band. Jimmy Page is to me the all around greatest when it boils down to the all around award. (playing, writing and producing). Robert as we found out in the 80's had quite a bit under his sleeve and put Jimmy to shame. Jimmy needed Robert a lot more than Robert needed Jimmy. Regardless, their 12 years together is untouchable. The Beatles lack of live work is their albatross. And The Who and Rolling Stones were not as consistant in the music department. I think you have to give Led Zeppelin the all around greatest. Just my take. For the record, bootlegs of the reunion show (2007) are your best bet. I don't think they"ll ever officially release it.

good points, I think the Beatles were the best song writers, but all around, you are correct re: their concert career. Stones had a long line of great albums though. 67ish to 81. (at least good albums)...though they went down hill live after Mick Taylor left and Mick starting talking the chorus'. I like Zep a bit more than the Who, but I can see the argument towards the Who too. Zep had lots of mystique.

Agree too on Plant, he was a good song writer. Love Page, his sound, songs, production, playing, performance...but after Zep the well went dry song writing wise. Outrider for instance is abysmal...I also respect Plant feels he can't do those old songs justice, admits it, and wants to leave a great legacy in tact. Most disagree, but why tarnish that.

I'm a huge fan of MAIDEN / MetallicA / rUSh / SCORPS and AC/DC, and etc. However, I always will be a fan of ZEPPELIN, and believe they are the greatesst Rock And Roll band of all time. They're the founders of what we call Heavy Metal, for they paved the way. Every Zep album is great and they never disappoint live, from these DVD's they have released. I love this DVD here a lot too, as well as, 'The Song Remains The Same'. I think they are regarded even more highly because of not dragging out their careers, like so many of our favorite rock/metal bands have done lately.

MAJOR RECOGNITION IS DESERVED ALWAYS FOR ZEPPELIN. FOREVER THE BEST ROCK BAND ON PLANET EARTH.

maybe if you listened to Houses Of The Holy, in particular the songs, 'The Rain Song', and 'No Quarter'. There's no way any singer ever could touch Plant in his prime (70's). NO WAY!!!!!

And Zeppelin IV, forget about it. Man there are a lot of idiots out here on the internet. 1%. Sure. Great bands have a way of all being equally important to the final mix. Zep is NO exception, my friend, you are sadly mistaken.

Stupid fans, you suck, always saying bands reunite for $. Perhaps the ones with $ in mind are you idiots, you are the ones that forget about the music. Like most of you idiots don't work for a living as well!? You are to blame that live Page hasn't happened in over a decade and may never again! Page Jones and Bonham Jr should've told Plant to F off & tour with Rodgers or Coverdale. Btw, Coverdale Page album rocks!!!!

Plant's vocals aren't that great, plus the only intrument he played was harmonica and tambourine...least essential to the LZ sound

Noose555,you nailed it right on the head my friend. I never really understood the appeal of Zep. I mean Priest I get and I bow to Maiden and Sabbath, but these guys never really did anything "awesome" IMO. And if I hear fucking "Stairway to Heaven" once more in my lifetime,I'm going to choke on my own vomit. A very average band at best, who don't deserve half of the esteemed accolades they get. So here it is: Best band ever=Pink Floyd Most Underrated band ever=Kyuss Most Overrated band ever-Led Fucking Zeppelin
