CRYPTOPSY: Two New Songs Available For Streaming - Aug. 15, 2012
"Two-Pound Torch" and "Red-Skinned Scapegoat", two brand new songs from Canadian extreme metallers CRYPTOPSY, can be streamed below. Both tracks will appear on CRYPTOPSY's forthcoming self-titled album, which will be released on September 14.

The cover artwork for "Cryptopsy" was created by Mircea Gabriel Eftemie (MNEMIC) and can be seen below.

"Cryptopsy" track listing:

01. Two-Pound Torch
02. Shag Harbour's Visitors
03. Red-Skinned Scapegoat
04. Damned Draft Dodgers
05. Amputated Enigma
06. The Golden Square Mile
07. Ominous
08. Cleansing The Hosts

CRYPTOPSY in January tapped bassist Olivier Pinard (NEURAXIS, VENGEFUL) as the replacement for guitarist-turned-bassist Youri Raymond.

Raymond left CRYPTOPSY in December, explaining in a statement that "it's in the best interest of both the band and I to part ways." He added, "As a musician, moving from guitar to bass was a great challenge, but honestly, I never really felt comfortable in that position and my motivation in general was stagnating."

Lead guitarist and songwriter Jon Levasseur rejoined CRYPTOPSY in May 2011.

"The Unspoken King", CRYPTOPSY's sixth full-length and first to feature new vocalist Matt McGachy, was released June 24, 2008 to a wide array of reactions. Drummer Flo Mounier explained his intention in reshaping the dynamics of the band to Decibel magazine: "I'm a fan of different sorts of music, and I think it's most fun when a band puts out an album that has elements of everything; you get this thing called diversity, not boredom. That's what we're trying to do. Still, I think people are going to be surprised how brutal this album is."

CRYPTOPSY is:

Flo Mounier: Drums/Vocals
Jon Levasseur: Lead, Rythm guitar
Chris Donaldson: Lead Guitar
Matt McGachy: Lead Vocals
Olivier Pinard: Bass Guitar

Nice come back, but will never erase the embarrassing attempt on deathcore. Shame. Shaaame. SHAAAAAAAAAAAAME.

they jumped the death metal bandwagon again and went tech death. I know their early stuff was 90's tech death, but now it's more like the newer tech death (i.e. Decrepit Birth, The Faceless, Origin, etc). It's definitely not a bad thing at all, it's awesome really, but it's kind of sad they can't just do their own thing anymore. They always have to be part of a trend.

Awesome songs though

Songs are good but Matt's vocals are too..... death-core ish to me. On the fence in regards to picking this up.

Agreed, songs are killer but the vocals are way too core-like for my taste. Wish Mike Disalvo would return, that would be cool.

People bitching about the vocals, who cares.............its......death metal vocals. I never care about vocals in death or black metal, its the riffs and drumming thats important.

Don't understand this comment, vocals in DM/BM can completely ruin an album or make an album/band shine. Of course, there is more to it than that, but vocals play a huge part in it.

So far it sounds 100% like Cryptopsy to me. I knew Jon could help revitalise this band.

It's like all the awesome riffs of old Cryptopsy, with none of the songwriting skills!

I'll listen to the album, but eh.
