DROWNING POOL: First Studio Recording With New Singer Available For Streaming - Aug. 15, 2012
A new DROWNING POOL song called "In Memory Of…" can be streamed below. The track was released yesterday to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the passing of the band's original singer, Dave Williams.

Said DROWNING POOL: "This song is dedicated to anyone and everyone who has lost a friend or family member. This one is from us to you, Dave."

Williams died on tour in 2002 after singing on the band's debut, "Sinner". He was replaced by Jason "Gong" Jones, who also contributed to one record, "Desensitized", before being shown the door in 2004.

"In Memory Of…" is the first studio recording to be made available with DROWNING POOL's fourth singer, Jasen Moreno, who replaced Ryan McCombs.

McCombs exited the group at the end of 2011 after a six-year stint in the lineup. He sang on two studio efforts by DROWNING POOL, 2007's "Full Circle" and 2010's self-titled fourth album.

Moreno, who previously sang in fellow Texas band THE SUICIDE HOOK, made his live debut as a member of DROWNING POOL on July 8 at a club in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

In a posting on the band's official Facebook page, DROWNING POOL guitarist C.J. Pierce wrote, "It's been a real pleasure for all of us working with Jasen Moreno. He jumped right in and stepped up to the plate. He's everything we hoped for in a singer."

He continued, "Jasen came in and got straight to work on new music for our next CD. Out of respect to all past singers, and most importantly the DROWNING POOL fans, he learned every song from every CD we've made in the past as well.

"Jasen has brought us not only a new voice but a new fire to the DROWNING POOL sound. We all can't wait to get the new music out to there to everyone with the live show.

"We just did a two-week run, and I have to say I haven't had this much fun in over ten years. It's really great playing a lot of old songs and jamming some of the new tunes as well. I think some of my favorite moments on this run is when fans come up and request songs and we can play any song from any CD for them.

"Looking forward to the rest of our career with Jasen. The singer switch is finally over!"

In an exclusive interview in the September 2012 issue of Guitar World magazine, Moreno said, "I am extremely happy and very grateful to be a part of the DROWNING POOL family. Everyone's been so welcoming, especially the fans. I can't praise them enough. They've made me feel right at home. This first run of live shows couldn't have gone any better!"

DROWNING POOL's fifth album and their first with Moreno is due out early 2013. The band teamed up with producer Kato Khandwalla at House of Loud Studios in New Jersey earlier this year, and will be finishing the album in Dallas.

DROWNING POOL is:

C.J. Pierce - Guitar, Vocals
Stevie Benton - Bass, Vocals
Mike Luce - Drums, Vocals
Jasen Moreno - Vocals

I was not expecting to like this but other than being a little repetitious it is a pretty good song and that guy has a great voice

Obviously Drowning Pool was Dave, as the band are yet to come close to the vibe and spirit that they had with him.

Very young sounding voice. Almost sounds like the guy from Taproot.

This shit sucks on so many levels.

Making cheesy heavy rock songs isn't cool since 1987 guys.

People always say that Drowning Pool died with Dave. I'd go so far as to say that I was able to buy Jason Jones as Dave's successor, but once he left, they should have changed the band name. With Ryan they were nothing more than a Drowning Pool cover band, and their new material with him sounded like they were trying to be a second-rate Soil. Now with this new guy, they sound like a whiny alt-rock band. I haven't bought a Drowning Pool album since Desensitized, and I think it's going to stay that way.

I like the song, Why so many haters, we should all hail any rock band that have a chance to take the spotlight off of useless rap today. The lyrics are good in this song and they are actually playing their instruments something that's missing from popular music....mainly Rap. (Not ripping on Rap but just stating the truth)

Grow up. If you want the metal community to be treated with respect you can't just call an entire culture of music shit just because you don't like it. Some MCs are hugely talented, the most glaring example being Eminem.
Just because some of the mainstream rap is shit (rappers appearing in rubbish pop songs (Beiber's Baby and any JLO songs)) doesn't mean there aren't some extremely talented individuals in that sector that do it for the passion of music and those it connects to, much in the same way as Metal does.

One would think timing of this story would have occured on yesterday's date.

On a side note, it was 30 years ago yesterday that the Scorps on Blackout, Maiden on Number and Girlschool on Screaming Blue Murder rolled through Dallas.

Most definitely a memorable show.

A long hair dude in red leather pants, high tops and a black Immoral Majority shirt comes running out from stage right and yells... This is a song called Wrathchild. And from that moment, it was on !

This sounds way better than the past 2 singers. This guy doesn't touch Dave but his voice is so clean. I love this direction they are taking.

I may have never met Dave but I think he would want his brothers to continue. Same goes for Pantera.

The singer doesn't have a bad voice, but the songwriting is absolutely terrible. It's flat and goes nowhere. No melody, no taste. Try tuning up your guitars and writing chord progressions and real melodies. What is wrong with metal bands these days. Learn something from Steel Panther, or Opeth. Musicians who can actually write something you can listen to.

Jasen is going to bring a lot of great things to the table for this band. I've seen him live many times here in Dallas. The guy can sing his ass off.
