Lottery Winner Says He Wants To Reunite Original Lineup Of GUNS N' ROSES - Aug. 15, 2012
A British man who won £148 million (approximately $232 million) in Friday's (August 10) EuroMillions lottery draw has said he wants to spend some of that money reuniting the original lineup of GUNS N' ROSES.

Adrian Bayford, a 41-year-old music shop owner, told The Sun, "I think I would just have to get GUNS N' ROSES together — the original lineup, mind. I'm a real fan."

Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash told CNN's Piers Morgan in May that no amount of money could ever get the original GUNS N' ROSES to reunite. Slash explained, "I don't think it's a matter of that; it really isn't. I think you've got a situation where nobody involved wants to revisit. It's not just me — it's the whole band. And so I don't think there's a price tag that anybody's put in front of us that's going to make that work."

Asked about the kinds of offers the band has gotten to get back together for a tour, Slash replied, "I've heard a lot of numbers, but I've never been handed a specific offer. But I'd say it starts off with seven figures and then sometimes it starts to get even more grandiose than that."

GUNS N' ROSES was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April, with Slash and several other original and later members of the group performing. Missing, however, was singer Axl Rose, who declined to attend.

Slash told The Pulse Of Radio that he knew from the start there was no chance of the original lineup performing again. "I never, in however many years it's been, ever planned or thought that there was gonna be any reunion," he said. "Everybody else has sort of alluded to it but, you know, I never saw it coming. I knew it was just an impossible thing, and it wasn't something I really wanted."

Slash also told Morgan he has not spoken with Axl since 1996, the year he left the band. As for the circumstances of his departure, Slash recalled, "It wasn't even me necessarily leaving the band, it was not continuing on with the new band that Axl put together that he was now at the helm of, which was the new GUNS N' ROSES. I was given a contract to basically join his new band, and it took about 24 hours before I decided, 'I think this is the end of the line.'"

If I win Powerball tonight, I'm going to try to pay Fates Warning to reunite with Awaken the Guardian lineup and fly everyone from Blabbermouth to KC to come see them. Now THAT would be worth the $$. So wish me luck! :)

If I win the lottery, I'll spend some of that money on myself, my family, and my close friends. I'll give to charity and invest the rest.

Cymballs said it best, a millionaire is going to give other millionaires money to get together and make even more millions.

I'm willing to bet that Axl would agree to the reunion, then do a no-show at the last minute, and the contract that was signed states he can cancel anytime for whatever reason. Leaving Axl richer and this Bayford poorer.

Please, man, think of anything more constructive than trying to reunite those idiots. They don,t want to do it, let them rot with their own miserable selves.

Start a label, sign new and promising acts! Organize a tour, buy a great venue and set-up great inexpensive concerts. Now, that would be constructive!

wasting money on maybe donating money to find a cure for some awful disease, or helping out someone who maybe down on their luck. Fuck that shit.

Spend a boatload of money on trying to get 5 rich assholes together to maybe play Sweet Child of Mine and November Rain. Even if you DO, you don't think Axl would be late to the gig? If he shows at all?

So many things I can do with money like that, I don't know, maybe donate some to charity, buy a few cars, houses, help out a few friends, pay my bills or give some to my kids.

Reuniting GnR falls right below donating to mitt Romneys Super Pac and buying any Apple product.

Here's a suggestion, buy a fucking brain.

Really why should this lottery winner only wish such suffering on one band? Why doesn't he suggest a triple billing on Simon and Garfunkel. Guns N' Roses, and Pink Floyd.

I wouldn't be interested in seeing Adler and Slash back in the band, they have not impressed me post-Guns besides they crossed many lines by talking out of line to the press about the internal strife. "With friends like that, who needs enemies?"

This is an example of what a liar Slash is. He says he was offered a contract to stay in New GN'R but he decided to leave.

By October 1996, the month Slash left, Guns N' Roses consisted of Axl Rose, Duff Mckagan, Matt Sorum, Dizzy Reed and Paul Tobias. It wasn't until 1997 that Robin Finck joined and 1998 when Tommy Stinson came on board. And this was probably the time Slash was offered to be in new GN'R. He wasn't offered a contract and left. No, he decided to leave but was given a last chance, unfair one though, to stay with this band but since he left he would no longer be equal to Axl.

Slash also doesn't like to mention how Axl called his manager, friends and parents to stop Slash from leaving the band. Not ever has Slash admitted Axl did a lot to keep him in the band because it destroy the image of Axl he has been so successfully moching off for the past 15 years. Before Slash left, Axl said to all of those people that he is making the biggest mistake of his life. It turned out to be true.

a reunion in 2012 would be nothing more than a fun concert, but useless creatively. Even if Axl & Slash buried the Hatchet, that magic the band had in 1987-91 or so, can't be recreated. Adler is a casuality, I don't think he'd even be considered...if "what have you done lately" is a criteria, I think you'd have to question Axl being on board a hell of a lot more than Slash...Slash's new CD is disappointing, but if Axl were on his A game, he could make those songs a hell of a lot better than Myles. I like Myles, but his melodies are very poppy.

Namrej, Slash totally mentioned Axl called his father, its in his book. he didn't want to stay under a dictatorship. He was being told what to do. If you don't believe Slash's word, then what about Duff's, Matts...any other of the guys. They ALL lie? Can you image being a major part of an organization, or job, and having lots of say, input, then all of a sudden you're told "no, we're doing it this way, and you'll be working with Paul Tobias now, and we overdubbed him on your solo". I don't think anyone would be cool w/that...

Slash does have to face up to some blame, being a drug addict, but by all accounts Axl was taking over. it was his way or the highway, and his way wasn't very productive as well. (as proven, 20 years on, one record). I for one wouldn't want to stay any longer, he was miserable....they didn't get along ,it happens, they broke up. The band had its shelf life, it was short but a Supernova. Now, none are as good as they were together, and they are all 47+. its over.

Or....use a tiny portion of the money to finance auditions for an AFD era Guns 'N Roses cover band. Put together a kick ass band and, have them play at a kick ass end-of-summer bash.

I think that is the more reasonable choice.

He should stop living in the past, and start spending that money on some young bands before the bands in the music industry fade, and leave nothing but nostalgia acts. Sure, there's a few bands around that sound better with age (Testament, Overkill, Rush, to name a few) but, GNR never sounded good live even in the early days because they were all fucked up, and Axl would get pissed and walk out, or show up late, or not show at all. This band was probably a lot better back in their club days, when they were living that lifestyle. Now, they can't live that way, they'd be dead. Therefore, there's no passion for it between those members, except Steven Adler who's living in the past like this guy.

My point is, he should give some money to some bands who need it. I mean look at Lamb of God, if Randy Blythe makes $200,000\yr touring his ass off, then imagine what smaller bands are making? He could help a lot of bands out and still have money to burn, and keep new music coming, these guys aren't gonna be around forever.

Looks that kill
Knock em dead, kid
Tonight (we need a lover)
Use it or lose it
Louder than hell

Five years dead
You're all I need
Dr. Feelgood
Kickstar my heart
She goes down
Smoke the sky (with John Corabi)
Hooligans holiday (with John Corabi)

If the original lineup did get back together, they could probably easily sell out arenas with the lowest ticket price being $200. Hell, I'd drop $300 if I had to. This band would be 100 times more exciting than what Metallica has given us, since 2000. Play enough dates and they'll make more than $232 million.
