GUNS N' ROSES Announces Las Vegas Residency - Aug. 13, 2012
GUNS N' ROSES will launch a Las Vegas residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino this fall. The series of 12 shows starts October 31 and wraps up November 24.

GUNS N' ROSES has teamed up with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to invade Las Vegas with a never-before-seen, one-of-a-kind music experience. Each night, the band will perform an electrifying show featuring a set list created exclusively for The Joint. "Appetite For Democracy" will span the band's biggest hits from their debut album "Appetite For Destruction" (1987) through their platinum-selling record "Chinese Democracy" (2008). Exact details about the show are being kept under wraps but fans can expect the raw and gritty heavy metal GUNS N' ROSES is known for along with a few surprise elements. Produced exclusively by AEG Live, "Appetite For Democracy" is unlike any show the band has ever done before or will ever do again.

"We are ecstatic to announce GUNS N' ROSES as our newest residency at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino," said Paul Davis, vice president of entertainment at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. "This is what The Joint is all about, bringing fans up close and personal with one of the most iconic bands in the world. It will be a truly unique GUNS N' ROSES experience!"

"This past New Year's Eve, GUNS N' ROSES tore the roof off The Joint with two sold-out shows. They were incredible; we watched them perform their timeless hits and soon-to-be legendary songs off 'Chinese Democracy'. Immediately following, AEG Live and Hard Rock began turning our fantasy of having them as a resident artist into a reality," added Bobby Reynolds, vice president of booking at AEG Live, Las Vegas. "To hear one of the biggest bands in the world rip through their catalog of hits is going to be amazing. There is no better way to celebrate the anniversary of their iconic album 'Appetite For Destruction' than to present 'Appetite For Democracy' at The Joint."

Ticket prices start at $45 (plus applicable services fees) and go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 17.

To purchase tickets or for more information, visit the Hard Rock Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations or charge-by-phone at 800.745.3000. Ticket and room packages are available at www.hardrockhotel.com.

MÖTLEY CRÜE earlier in the year became the first hard rock band to ever launch a Las Vegas residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

In addition sole original member Axl Rose (vocals), the current lineup of GUNS N' ROSES includes guitarists Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Richard Fortus and DJ Ashba, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman and drummer Frank Ferrer.

Just a few months after Motley does it, GNR follows.

Eventually, this will become the trend for bands to follow. Right now, though, it's the cruise circuit.

When Axl decides to show up 2 or 3 hours late at least you'll be in Las Vegas where you don't sleep much anyways. Sit at a slot Machine or black Jack Table til you know they actually take the stage.

All that being said if I was in Vegas then, I would buy a ticket for Barry Manilow before I would Go see the Axl Rose Solo band.

They'll never tour again because Axl ruined this band and has been since he fired Slash, Duff and the other original members.

I could care less who did it first: Elton, Celine Dion, Motley or Axl. It's great if you're a fan and you live in the area. A different twist on touring: the crowd comes to your town rather than the band coming to town. I have no opinion yay or nay about Guns N' Roses playing a Vegas residency aside from that they should consider interjecting some different songs into the setlist. That, and the running order.

Well I saw the Gilby, Matt, Slash, Axl, Dizzy and Duff lineup. Was that the real lineup ? Was that Guns n'Roses ? 1992 (Montréal)

Well I saw the Fortus, Finck, Stinson, Thal, Axl, Ferrer and Dizzy lineup. Was that the real lineup ? Was that Guns n'roses ? Was that Guns n' Roses ? (Québec city 2006)

Well I saww the Fortus, Thal, Ashba, Stinson, Axl, Ferrer and Dizzy lineup. Was that the real lineup ? Was that Guns n' Roses ? (Montréal 2010)

Question being ? Did I ever really see Guns n'Roses ?

The only thing I can say, is that each time i came back with a smile on face and a grin that only went away 2 or 3 days later. It was a blast !!! Love the music, couldn't careless about the band !!

And what is the difference with Megadeth and Guns n' Roses. There is some bitching about Daves lineup, but he still has hired players to play... does anyone give a s**t ?

With tickets at $45, they will no doubt be snatched up 30 seconds into the sale by all the scalpers.

At least you can hang out at the casino until 11:30 when Axl and his band that replaced the band that replaced the original band.

Perfect place for the famously "offer" that V. Neil (he lives in Las Vegas, isn't he?) once made to A. Rose to get into a fight. I definitely would pay for that: two botox faced old rockers hitting each other. Sorry, after reading it I guess I'll pass.

no one said "sweet" to Motley doing it. and Elton is playing Lion King music now, he hasn't been good since 1975. Its par for the course for Elton.

GnR are playing a few nights at the HardRock, its not like a typical Vegas trip, so i wouldn't lump them in with that group anyhow. Its not a year long stay in vegas only. Not a big deal...and Axl wasn't selling out all his dates in arena's in US, so this makes sense, financially. He seems to cash in in South America.

People shouldn't take shit so seriously, you could be missing out on some good times. Shit like this is why I love living in Vegas. If I was home I'd probably hit a couple of the GNR shows.

Anyone who goes to see this lame version of G N R is just an Axl fanboy, not a fan of the real Guns N' Roses. That band was history when they put out "The Spaghetti Incident" and Axl has just been living off the name, just like the guys in Queensryche, Warrant, Great White.

I would pay $45 to see the band that played at the RnR HOF induction. I wouldn't even accept a free ticket to see the band Axl is calling Guns N' Roses.

It's sort of like seeing an Elvis impersonator. The songs are the same, but the faces are different. Even Axl isn't quite the same as he used to be.

Everybody points out that some bands have totally new bands but the same lead singer (e.g. Motorhead, Nine Inch Nails, etc.) But, the difference here, is that those bands are almost exclusively the vision of one man. GNR was not exclusively Axl's vision, particularly when it came to music. Motorhead and Nine Inch Nails were always almost the *musical* vision vision of Lemmy or Trent Reznor. Musically, Axl wrote a few piano tunes, but Slash and Izzy were heavily influential in the sound of the band, and Slash's playing really fit Axl's piano tunes very well. With Slash and Izzy, the entire sound of the band is different.

I could respect Axl if he put out more music and just called the band something different. But, really, he's just milking the old band's tunes and no one gives a shit about his new music. Some of it is decent, but no one gives a shit about it, because, even if it is decent, it just doesn't compare with the old stuff.

GNR died after Spaghetti Incident. Period. Axl is completely annoying. But he's obviously a brilliant business man. Because with such an awful voice, putting out garbage music and treating fans like shit - hey you know what? The jokes on the world because he's raking it in. I still say he sucks completely, but more power to him for cashing in I suppose.

I thoroughly enjoyed the exchanges above particularly between Abner and BSlash (who once again has redeemed himself, I no longer think he hides in Slash's peehole and comes out only to scrutinize Axl).

There would be no reason to criticize this band before acknowledging the stamina and intestinal fortitude of these guys to continually bring an authentic full-on hard rock experience to the masses night after night. I was around during the rise of GnR and feel the ones complaining don't realize they were underdogs being slagged by the press but the fans stood up for them. It wasn't luck, either, they had to insist they were seen and heard, took about a year for some of their hits to hit. The ones that got there too late are the most nostalgic for the AFD line-up. The rest are too young to know the difference or care. The excitement factor of the current line-up is so high I wouldn't change a thing. They built that band thru hard work, more power to them. I'd see a show and have seen them and everyone agreed it was an amazing 3 hours.

Because there's Sooo much fun shit to do in Vegas, you make people sit & wait in an empty auditorium waiting on your dumb ass while they could be out having an awesome time, those Vegas fuckers will turn on you quick.

Axl: bit of advice, PLAY ON TIME or them people will skip you to go do something actually fun.

come on man, really.

Insisted on being heard? Underdog? excitement factor is so high?

this new venture is anything but that. The antethesis. Axl Rose was the biggest rock star on the planet, not an Underdog. He was a diva, a dog. no underdog is getting 13mil to make a record, Best Buy to sell it, and the hype of a projected genius new album...and the excitement after it was delivered...like a deflated balloon.

Gnr isn't water cooler talk like they were in their heyday, ask the average rock fan, they don't know if Axl's touring. Who's in the band? There no excitement. only the hard core fans are paying attention

I saw them in 2002, he was greeted with resounding boos, truth. Because he made people wait, and wait, til they were rowdy, pissed, and angry. This is fun? Excitement. no.

and I don't just jump on team Slash. I found his new CD to be a commerical snoozer for the most part. So let's call a spade a spade. Axl had the biggest band in the world and Declawed it. No, that wasnt' luck, it was stubbornness.

hard work? 1 record in 20 years. Man, don't over heat Axl. Other than maybe, Boston, which band that is allegedly active, spends so much time on the sidelines? I can't think of another big act, that's not hard work. Hard work is the Beatles putting out 2 +albums a year for years. Aerosmith in the 70's, tour, after tour, after tour, album, tour...a few weeks off...stop blowing smoke up Axl's ass.

To paraphrase John Lennon,"No one is gonna help you on your second time coming up". I'm not saying that people are more excited than in the 80's, when the fans and the band were the same age. It is clear that when they were young and volatile and fighting with everyone --so were we. I'm not the same, are you?
I think people also miss that Axl and the band are very funny and self-effacing. I don't think they will ever put out a contrived rock star pose like what I saw in the Velvet Revolver video. Or Slash's band's photo where they all look like they shared the same stylist.

I spent very little time on the Sunset Strip scene but I am aware that Axl Rose was famous there before he was mainstream famous. I do know that it took them a considerable time to break. A huge reason I'm not impressed with Slash's snide comments towards Axl is because he seems to forget how lucky he was to attached to Axl. Even if Axl put out mediocre music he was gonna break eventually. Slash is just lucky he stayed in that band. TONS of great players who write catchy music and look the part have NEVER been heard. It almost goes without saying that the music scene back then was about signing everyone but not promoting them. 1) radio stations were pay to play 2) Music videos needed big budgets that bands would have to pay for. I believe the contracts were written that way and if money was lost, the band absorbed it. They also could loose bug money by touring. Risky business to be in.

And yes---people on both coasts knew about the GnR tour dates for their intimate club tours and were very excited. I went with someone who went to the '88 Ritz show and they thought the '12 show was excellent. Really the whole place was erupting from excitement. I see a lot of shows, GnR has one of the best audiences. I'd like to see Duff up there---or Izzy. The current line-up claim they are making music all the time. J.D. Salinger wrote 45 years past his last publication. I, too, would not publish music just to put something "new" out. I won't pretend to know or judge their reasons. However, I would like to hear the new music altho Chi Dem still appeals to me. I also wish they mix up the ChiDem songs they play on tour.

*meant i'd like to see Duff or Izzy playing one-offs. I really enjoy the craziness of all the members, they all seem a little off in a good way. Fortus is really out-standing. I could praise each one from what i've seem by this might not be the audience to appreciate them.

Fortus may be outstanding. And so are numerous guitar players, but not in GnR.

Axl got to "the top" and his already over inflated ego shot 100 miles higher. His voice went straight out the door (not like it was ever there much anyhow) and so did his great band - who were part of the magic that made those first couple albums great. He's too self deluded to admit he isn't great by himself, his band is a bunch of total ass kisser LA posers who just want a paycheck. You don't have to be from the late 80s sunset strip scene to figure this all out. It's pretty goddamned simple. Anyways, according to Sixx - the Crue gave em their first big break and that was because Slash was cool with Nikki, NOT Axl. Slash also was cool with Lars Ulrich and that relationship scored them the Metallica tour. And on the "Year and a half" DVD it's pretty clear what a prick Axl was on that tour. I also saw that tour and Axl SUCKED DICK. I was a fan before that, but not after.

Welcome to the Jungle video came before that Crue tour
Without checking, i'm pretty sure that at least 4 members in GnR are from the east coast.

You might not get another chance and you will regret it.

Expect a special guest list of performers: Izzy, Duff, Bach

Expect a live stream concert free or pay per view (I hope)

Expect a rare performance of seldom played songs omg

Expect excellent attendance numbers for a smaller venue

Expect Axl's GNR to start between 11pm and 1am each night

Only $50 - $150

You know you are going to be there or wish you could be
