VOLBEAT: Pro-Shot Footage Of Entire WACKEN OPEN AIR Performance - Aug. 11, 2012
Professionally filmed video footage of VOLBEAT's entire performance at this year's Wacken Open Air festival, which took place August 2-4 in Wacken, Germany can be seen below.

With VOLBEAT's latest North American tour finished, the band is probably starting to think about its next album. Drummer Jon Larsen told The Pulse Of Radio what the Danish rockers' plans are for the rest of 2012. "I think we're gonna go to the rehearsal room and hide out for a few months, try to come up with some new stuff. And if everything goes to plan, we'll go in the studio later this year to record a new album."

Frontman Michael Poulsen told Loudwire that new music is already in the works, saying, "Some material has been written on the road and some has been written at home. We will be home in a couple of days then it's up to me to put all the pieces together and then we will enter the studio probably late this year, maybe early next year, but there will definitely be a new VOLBEAT record out, I believe around early April or something like that."

Poulsen added about the new material, "It's the VOLBEAT style, and again there's going to be a lot of great surprises, so I can't wait to get home to put all the pieces together."

VOLBEAT broke through on the American market last year with its fourth album, 2010's "Beyond Hell/Above Heaven". All four of the band's CDs have gone gold in its native Denmark.

The record yielded the Top 10 rock radio tracks "Fallen", "A Warrior's Call" and current single "Still Counting".

Still Counting was actually released on the album before Beyond Hell/Above Heaven called Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood. I guess they re-released the new album and included that song as a bonus since they're success went worldwide?
I first seen them in 2008 opening for Nightwish here in America, and I was blown away. Most of the members were sick with the flu or something, but they went on and played harder than anyone in that place was expecting. I got their 3 releases (at the time), and loved each one! I just had to catch them last year on the tour supporting this album, and once again; they rocked that bitch! Played at least two and a half hours, and interacted with the audience better than most bands I've ever seen.
I highly recommend catching a show when they come around...they're much heavier live than on the cd, and that says a lot. I personally think they blend the best elements of rock and metal. : )

Pool of Booze, Booze, Booza from 2005's The Strength / The Sound / The Songs got me into them but Sad Man's Tongue from 2007's Rock the Rebel / Meet the Devil made me a diehard fan. Finally got to see them at Lazerfest in Iowa earlier this year. Best band I've seen in over 20 years.

Agreed... I think BH/AH is their best release to date, but each of their albums has some CLASSIC Volbeat tunes, so it's hard to discount any of of their albums. Personally, I have them ranked BH/AH #1, with Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood and Rock The Rebel / Metal The Devil being a close #2 and #2A (they keep flip flopping in terms of which I like better). Finally, I have their debut The Strength / The Sound / The Songs ranked 4th, but that is still a very good album.

TreEdeathfan, if you're looking for particular songs to check out, here are just a few of my absolute faves. Check 'em out on YouTube. There are official videos for some of them, too:

I Only Wanna Be With You (outstanding cover, IMO)
The Garden's Tale
Sad Man's Tongue (this song 1st hooked me on the band)
Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood
Still Counting
Heaven Nor Hell
Fallen (my favorite Volbeat tune to date)

This band was easily the highlight of Gigantour. I really was not expecting them to come across as well as they did, but damn - was I ever happy to be wrong.

The fact that no one is talking shit on here says a lot. This is the best band to come out in the last ten years for sure. I have seen them three times now in Orlando FL. First time only 450 people, second time about 700 and the last time was over 1000. They are getting bigger and bigger in the US. Great musicans with well written songs. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Does anyone else think they sound like early Life of Agony?

The first song I heard by them was Hallahlueah Goat. I immediately thought they sounded like Keith Caputo singing. Other songs by Volbeat scream Social Distorion at times with Michael's Gibson SG.
