SAXON: New Video Interview With BIFF BYFORD - Aug. 7, 2012
German TV channel ZDF Kultur conducted an interview with vocalist Biff Byford of British heavy metal legends SAXON at this year's Wacken Open Air festival, which took place August 2-4 in Wacken, Germany. You can now watch the chat below.

SAXON is hard at work on its next album for a tentative February 2013 release. The follow-up to 2011's "Call To Arms" will be mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, NEVERMORE, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY).

SAXON in April released "Saxon - Heavy Metal Thunder - Live - Eagles Over Wacken", the no-fat-no-bullshit-100%-pure CD/DVD featuring DVD highlights from the band's Wacken shows in 2004, 2007 and 2009 comprising thirty songs, plus a live CD from Glasgow in 2011. Each set captures the Barnsley-bred British heavy metal legends delivering classic after classic, from "Denim & Leather" to "Metalhead" to "Heavy Metal Thunder" to "Princess Of The Night" to "Crusader" in front of 75,000-pluds loyal, ravenous fans, who have come to expect (and receive) the levels of performance SAXON have been delivering for 32 years.

"Heavy Metal Thunder - Live - Eagles Over Wacken" is available in a variety of formats, including the Golden Ticket D2C/Direct To Consumer Box.

Strictly limited, this exclusive package contains the "Best Of Wacken" DVD, plus the full and complete SAXON Wacken Open Air performances from 2004/2007/2009 each on a separate DVD, plus a SAXON flag.

"Call To Arms" sold around 700 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at No. 51 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. The digipack version of "Call To Arms" includes a glorious bonus — a free seven-track CD, "Live At Donington 1980".

Agreed, I kind of lost touch with them in the 90's a bit but just recently bought all of their '00 output. It's amazing!

Only saw this band live, once, a few years ago during their Call To Arms US tour. Holy crap (great live band, great sound-both old and new tunes)!

They played as if they were playing to 10X the amount of people that were there in the small theater!

For those wondering....they are all super cool guys and hung out for over an hour by their bus after the show signing stuff and taking pics with everyone.

I will definitely catch them again from now on each time they play in my area!!!

love this band. I recently just bought a bunch of their records. These guys are still awesome. I wake up listening to them every morning and am jamming to Into the Labyrinth right now. The Valley of the Kings and Voice are KILLER songs with face-melting solos in them. I'm sooo happy they're successful and can't wait 'til they come back to Houston - they were awesome!!!!

their last album, A Call to Arms, was awesome; however, I hope their new one is heavier like Metalhead or Unleash the Beast. I remember turning some friends onto them in the 80's by playing Crusader for them and they were blown away and, like myself, are Saxon fans to this day! Hell, I'm about to buy a Saxon pendant from The Great Frog because I love these guys so much (plus it's really cool).
