DIO: 'The Very Beast Of Dio Vol. 2' Audio Preview - Aug. 7, 2012
On Tuesday, October 9, a second volume of DIO's best tracks will be unleashed via Niji Entertainment"The Very Beast Of Dio Vol. 2" – a follow-up to the gold-certified "The Very Beast Of Dio". The 17-track CD picks up exactly where the first volume left off — from 1996 onward. And in addition to featuring such latter-day DIO classics as "Killing The Dragon", "Push" and "Fever Dreams", the compilation will also include several rarities that fans have long requested on a single disc — "Electra" (which previously was only a part of the ultra-rare "Tournado" box set), "Prisoner of Paradise" and "Metal Will Never Die".

An audio preview of the "The Very Beast Of Dio Vol. 2" tracks is available at this location.

As the Ronnie James Dio Facebook page administrator raves, "I absolutely know that every single Dio fan is going to want 'The Very Beast Of Dio Vol. 2'! I'm a HUGE Dio fan, just like all of you, and I can't tell you how excited I am about this CD. I had the pleasure of listening to the CD that was produced, mixed, and remastered by Ronnie's longtime engineer, Wyn Davis, and it sounds BLOODY INSANE!!!"

Also included as part of the release will be liner notes penned by long-time supporter and friend of Ronnie's, Eddie Trunk from VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show", as well as an awesome front cover painting by artist Marc Sasso (who previously created the covers for DIO's "Killing The Dragon" and "Master Of The Moon" albums).

"The Very Beast Of Dio Vol. 2" will also be receiving a significant promotional push, as it will be promoted on Trunk's radio program, and will be given away via the infamous "Box Of Junk" on an episode of "That Metal Show". And, of course, the very popular official Ronnie James Dio Facebook page will get behind the release — which has over 735,000 fans (and receives between 800,000 to 1,000,000 hits per month).

As the Dio Facebook page administrator notes, "Just to let you know, the first 'Beast Of Dio' was only released in the USA and Canada, and has sold over 800,000 CDs to date! This CD will be in EVERY COUNTRY and our Dio store too!"

wouldn't call it a cash grab, if it were, it would have the "greatest hits" list. it's more like a bad idea, sort of like if were metallica releasing a best of from st anger, lulu and death magnetic

Title is unlike Dio, cover is a bad joke and a collection of songs that nobody is really waiting for. Diehard fans and collectors only.

The good stuff is the Campell-era, whether you like Vivian or not.

The tracks on this CD are KILLER! There are some amazing tunes from KTD and MOTM... and do I really need to mention that Magica was one of Dio's career best? (Although extracting tracks from a concept album kind of puts them out of context, better to just have the whole album.) I already have all the original CDs but will still buy this one because of the bonus tracks.

Thank god somebody said it, this is a great collection for a fan who only know the first 5 records. Dio always was putting out new music, and this is a great way for people to discover those records. I'm all in.

posers. So far, the posts above me sound like your typical fair-weather fans who only know a band's best, most well known material. This collection is not as good as The Beast Pt.1, but if anyone knows the works of Dio they should at least know most of the songs on here. C'mon people. I'm guessing you never sought to check out Dio's music post 88'? There is some good stuff from Lock Up the Wolves, right up to Master of The Moon (represented here). Not as classic or "good" overall, maybe, but still damn solid. As Long as it's not About Love. Killing the Dragpn, Push, Fever Dreams, Feed My Head, One more for the Road, etc.., well, their good, ha!

I forgot to mention it's too bad they did not include the Japan-only bonus track from Angry machine: "God Hates Heavy Metal".

You'd have a hard time convincing anyone that that Angry machines was not Dio's career worst album. Even some hardcore fans have trouble with it, but "God Hates Heavy Metal" is a very rare pearl which deserves to be heard.

Why they ignored Strange Highways is crazy. One of his best albums.

Nice release Niji Entertainment but please, PLEASE, don't present this release as it the holy grail of what everybody has been longing for. It's nice, nothing more, nothing less. I prefer some outtakes, demos or finished or unreleased songs. All the bonus or so called obscure songs the fans already own. I'd like to have some 'real' new stuff from my all time favorite singer RJD!! R.I.P.

Magica is one of Dio's finest records, topped only by Holy Diver !

btw, a a live DVD from that tour would be GREAT ( killer setlist!)

Eddie Trunk is writing the liner notes, which makes sense all things considered. However, anyone else remember catching Eddie on TMS totally bothching Dio-related Stump the Trunk questions - not once, but twice! I think the first one was while Dio was the main guest and it had something to do with naming every studio album (or a certain amount). He couldn't even do it. Second time, while Vinny was there, Ed was asked to name, I believe, five studio albums featuring Vinny. This ass could not even remember Dream Evil for Christ's sake! And to add insult to injury, moron Vinny jumps in and says something about Strange Highways being "from like 96' or 97'." I thought that was interesting. I mean, Dio knowledge should be metal 101 for guys like Eddie, ha.

I know, but I couldn't believe Vinny saying Highways came out in the mid/late 90's. My God, man!

As for this release,I don't like the cover art, it looks very silly and childish. The color scheme is all wrong making it lack the dreamy nature of Master of the Moon. And the EVIL tatoo is very cheap to say the least.

I thought the 3 new tracks were never on a DIO release. Electra was on Tournado, Prisoner of Paradise on the Japan MOTM. If this was the route, they should of threw on God Hates Heavy Metal and Annica.

But the songs are fucking golden. But instead of Black, I would of went with Dying In America. Magica is Ronnie's best album ever and As Long As It's Not About Love is better than any song that was on Vol.1.

I just don't know if $13.00 os so is worth the 3 tracks I don't have. I might skip this, but since I have every DIO album out, I don't know if this one's for me anyways. Oh, well, gonna rock out some TestAmenT new album tonight. Peace.
