AEROSMITH Guitarist Says CARRIE UNDERWOOD's Duet With STEVEN TYLER Sounds 'Just Right' - July 30, 2012
Country megastar Carrie Underwood, Julian Lennon (John Lennon's son with his first wife Cynthia) and actor Johnny Depp make guest appearances on "Music From Another Dimension!", the new album from Boston hard rock legends AEROSMITH. Underwood duets with AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler on a crossover ballad titled "Beautiful", a move which guitarist Joe Perry was skeptical about at first before eventually being won over. "Their voices matched up really well," Perry tells RollingStone.com in a new interview. "It doesn't sound forced. It was just right." Lennon contributed harmony vocals to "Love Three Times a Day", which Tyler describes to RollingStone.com as "BEATLES-que." "He's such a sweet fucking guy," Tyler says. "And he's John's first son with that voice and sense of humor — gimme a break!" Depp laid down backing vocals on a Perry-penned track called "Freedom Fighter", which the guitarist said will either appear the regular album or be released as a bonus track on a later deluxe edition of the CD.

"Music From Another Dimension!" also features a guest appearance by guitarist Rick Dufay, who briefly replaced AEROSMITH's Brad Whitford in the early Eighties. Dufay joined the band on a cover of THE TEMPTATIONS' 1975 hit "Shakey Ground", which Tyler had originally intended to include on a solo album.

And it will still be one of the worst songs on the album solely for being another Aerosmith ballad.

Yep Joe, just keep telling yourself that. It'll make you feel like you have some dignity since the whole band probably caved in to Mr. Tyler's American Idol wishes on this one and probably gave Columbia records a hard on. I'll just listen to Draw The Line.

She's not that bad, better than most modern country. But yeah probably still the weakest one.

hate to be the next guy writing a negative comment, but can we put to rest the notion that this album is going to be a return to rockin', because Jack Douglas is on board. Its simply not 1976, Douglas wants this CD to sell through the roof too, why not just grab Justin Beiber while we're at it. Just get it all out of the way.

Tyler is addicted to being a pop idol. And Joe Perry seems to be on board with the sellout as well. I sort of held out a little hope that the reason they got Douglas was because they truly did want to just strip it down and rock. Legendary Child is more of the same(if not worse), and now Johnny Depp, Underwood on a Country-rock cross over...today's country is pop anyhow...this may make Just Push Play seem like an early Stooges album.

I don't expect Toys in the Attic, but I wanted some effort to get slightly gritty. it aint happenin'.

Would be a press conference where the whole band announces its retirement and also tells us that you are pulling all but the earlier albums off the cd racks and air waves for eternity

Carrie Underwood sounds like a hog calling champion trying to be heard over a cat in a blender.

And no matter how much hype this album gets, I'm bettin' its a letdown.
