HELMET: New Video Interview With PAGE HAMILTON - July 29, 2012
Shadows Promotions conducted an interview with HELMET mainman Page Hamilton on July 28 at the Masquerade in Atlanta, Georgia. You can watch the chat below.

HELMET recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of its classic "Meantime" album by embarking on a five-week European tour and playing the LP in its entirety at each and every show.

HELMET's latest full-length album, "Seeing Eye Dog", came out on September 7, 2010. The band's first LP since 2006's critically acclaimed "Monochrome" and its seventh album overall was made available on the indie Work Song label (with physical distribution by Redeye and direct-to-fan digital delivery by Topspin). The CD was produced by HELMET mainman Page Hamilton, with additional production by Toshi Kasai and vocal production by Mark Renk.

Hamilton is joined in the current HELMET lineup by drummer Kyle Stevenson, guitarist Dan Beeman and bassist Dave Case.

I'd love to see them play Meantime in it's entirety. I really dug the follow up Betty as well, but after that I completely lost track of this band. Too many band member changes and breaks for my adhd.

I have a meantime tour shirt when they played in lawrence kansas back in 92. my friend went and i wasn't able to go but he got me a shirt and i still wear it. I saw one just like it on ebay going for over 300 dollars but i would never sell mine. One of the best and most influential bands ever. I can't wait to see them next month in kansas city.

If Page can't afford to pay the costs of recording an album, Helmet should setup a Pledge Music page. I've seen City Of Fire and The Tea Party have great success with theirs.

There's not a bad song on that album and the riffs are so fucking heavy....the main thing I liked about that album though was the sound they had....it was really raw and live sounding. That was when they were in their prime. I still love Helmet but it's not nearly the same without Henry's bass and Johns drumming. Those guys were so right it was unbelievable. John Stanier was/is a great drummer....Betty was also a really good album and Aftertaste is totally underrated....I'll be seeing them perform this week....Helmet rules!!!

Strap it on was raw, brutish power.

Meantime was their musical apex, a masterpiece.

Betty was a more experimental version of Meantime.

Aftertaste was when thing started sliding a little, but that was still a great album.

Size Matters is still amazing, though I was not that enthused about Page's new vocal style.

Monochrome was a little weak to me, but their signature style still didn't waver with that one.

Seeing Eye Dog could have displayed better song writing, but it was still cool.

All in all, just fantastic albums from these guys. Love Helmet, along with Down, Crowbar, C.O.C, Gojira and High on Fire one of my favorite heavy bands of all time!

They were great, dragged songs out a little too much here and there, but still entertaining. The Toadies stole the show though.
