New QUEENSRŸCHE Lineup Makes Its Official Live Debut At Minnesota's HALFWAY JAM (Video) - July 29, 2012
The new QUEENSRŸCHE made its official live debut as the headliner of the last day of this year's Halfway Jam, which took place July 26-28 in Royalton, Minnesota. Also appearing on the bill at the three-day event were ENUFF Z'NUFF, LYNCH MOB, STRYPER, BANG TANGO, TRIXTER, JACKYL, BLACKFOOT, MOLLY HATCHET and .38 SPECIAL.

QUEENSRŸCHE's setlist was as follows:

01. Queen Of The Reich
02. Speak
03. Neue Regel
04. Walk In The Shadows
05. En Force
06. I Don't Believe In Love
07. Child Of Fire
08. The Whisper
09. Warning
10. Spreading The Disease
11. The Needle Lies
12. Prophecy
13. Take Hold Of The Flame
14. My Empty Room
15. Eyes Of A Stranger
16. Empire
--------------
17. Wrathchild (IRON MAIDEN cover)
18. Jet City Woman
19. Roads To Madness

Video footage of QUEENSRŸCHE's performance can be seen below.

QUEENSRŸCHE members Michael Wilton (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass), Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Parker Lundgren (guitar) announced on June 20 that they were parting ways with singer Geoff Tate and recruiting powerhouse vocalist Todd La Torre of CRIMSON GLORY as his replacement. The new QUEENSRŸCHE lineup previously played two shows in their home city of Seattle under the name RISING WEST.

Wilton, Jackson and Rockenfield defeated Tate's motion for a preliminary injunction on July 13 that would have kept them from touring and operating under the band name,

Tate and his wife, Susan, QUEENSRŸCHE's former manager, filed a lawsuit against Geoff's ex-bandmates on June 22 in King County Superior Court over whether he should be awarded the QUEENSRŸCHE name after being dismissed from the group in June. Their complaint states Rockenfield, Wilton and Jackson wrongfully fired the singer and are tarnishing the group's brand by attempting to move forward without him.

If the case goes to trial, the date is set for November 18, 2013.

In the meantime, Wilton, Jackson and Rockenfield, along with Lundgren and La Torre have launched a new web site at QueensrycheOfficial.com.

Lundgren was briefly married to Geoff's stepdaughter Miranda; they have since divorced.

And then all the people who claim that TLT will never be as good as 80s GT will start pouring in... Guess what? NO ONE will ever be as good as the old GT. You know who else isnt s good? Geoff Taint. TLT is the best thing that has happened to QR in 15 years, so all the Taint lickers will have to deal with it.

You nailed it!! And what's up with everybody talking about them doing covers...?! wtf?! Was also maiden doing "covers" after fear of the dark? it did take some time to come out with x factor after all... Now there's just an album to be put out (first of a row, I hope), and then the new, old queensryche will finally be recognized for what it can really do and not only for its potential... And I have no doubt about the results...!!

guy sounds pretty good.

Geoff Tate just had too much baggage and didn't seem to have Queensryches best interest in mind.

Now put out a QR album that reminds us why we got into this band in the first place.

Hey, it's a beginning.

I'm glad to say "QUEENSRYCHE's BACK!!" after being disappoined for 19 years. It's a perfect set-list. Some songs sound weaker than others, but it's Todd's first official gig, and the songs are near impossible to sing, so I say he did an excellent job. Thumbs up! This is truly the right direction. It's a bonus that they look cooler than they ever did with Tate too, as a band.

You have to love the warped logic of many people here. Three of the original members, who were there BEFORE Tate, are a "cover band". A definite Obama 2012 voter we have here, folks.

The new guy is just what the band needs.

If I had no idea who the singer was I'd just say the guy nailed it great! Knowing the whole drama they went trough with Tate, It's safe to say the decision to move along without him was right! Seems like the crowd there didn't care for him to be gone either.

I was there. Right at the front of the stage. And I got to spend some time with the guys right before the show. I've seen Queensryche dozens of times since 1991 and this show was simply INCREDIBLE! The guys were obviously having fun for the first time in years. Todd sounded amazing. The crowd responded very positively throughout the evening. This was indeed a history making night.

Funny how TLT mentions history in the making right before Neue Regel. True indeed. Great setlist, heavy performance, soaring lead vocals.

I think the sooner they put out a new album, the better. For someone like myself who is a huge fan and has been following Queensryche since day one, it was a bit weird to watch those videos. A killer new album would validate that this is the real deal.

I don't deny their right to go on as Queensryche, I just want them to be able to stand apart from the past and not just lean on playing previous material. The longer they go relying on past material, the more I would question whether or not this is really Queensryche.

New album please.

It's the time of new Crimson Glory and new Queensrÿche with Todd La Torre. Welcome Todd!

Most of you guys over estimate the new singer a little too much. He's ok but he should stay away from singing Neue Regel because he cannot nail that one at all AND He doesnt have the stage presence and charimas of Tate. Is it just me or this feel like I'm watching a QR tribute band when I watch these videos?
Tate and Degarmo were the true heroes in this band and theyre both gone! RIP Queensryche.

I love Mark Tornillo and he hasn't got the greatest stage presence either but he's made a couple of great albums.

Todd did sound a little ropey, but this was his first ever gig as Queensryche frontman, so this could be, and very likely is, just teething troubles. In any case, even on this performance, he sounds better than Geoff does these days. The band could not have gone on with Geoff in any case, and he would likely have thrown a tantrum if the guys presented that setlist to him... which probably actually happened anyway! lol

If they could get Chris back, it would certainly help the new line-up's credibility, though a killer new album would also do that, even without Chris. The new album is really going to be the key factor for me, if they can prove that they have what it takes to return the band to it's former glory, then they will deserve the name of Queensryche, until then, the jury's still out. Geoff had to go though, as much a fan I am of his vocals when they were at their best. At least this way, they have a chance of being great again. With Geoff, that could never have happened.

Good luck Queensryche and Todd!

Let it go bro. You were great in the beginning, but now you have lost your passion for singing and your music is mediocre at best. Get yourself a gig in a jazz lounge and completely turn your back on us that supported you all these years. You have traded your passion for power, control and greed. Queensryche cand go on without you. I am sad for you and your ego. You have lost what made you the voice of Queensryche.

Geoff Tate lost his voice and passion and Queensryche lost their main songwriter in Degarmo, they are doomed. Look at the set list my friend, its all Degarmo's songs. Here's a fact, Q Prime management inc. dropped them when Chris left the band because they knew they couldnt write a good album without him...and they havent since then! I can't wait to see what Todd the savior will bring to the table.

The thing I think is the most amazing about this whole story is how remarkable Todd sounds, and to me, being an old school fan, I really can't tell the difference between the two, I mean he sounds EXACTLY like Geoff. Don't really care about the drama, what I do care about is how they sound, and when the next album will drop. they sound amazing with Todd, and I am really happy for the guys, hope they bring back what has been missing since Chris left. The other thing a lot of people overlook is that Michael Wilton is an incredible songwriter himself, and I bet he won't let anybody down.

Geoff will be fine, sounds like he's got a strong family to lean on, and now he can do whatever the fuck he wants, so this is going to be a win, win, win.

wow...I sincerely hope his voice doesn't get tired throughout the tour. And he takes care of his voice and all that, cause these songs (vocal wise) are not a walk in a park. Nobody should? underestimate the power in these songs, vocalwise. Geoff sang these things like a walk in a park back then. At this age, he can't at all anymore.

This is exactly what QR fans have been waiting for. QR going back to there roots. Glad they did

Few want to hear another guy sing QR songs. It would be like hearing another guy sing Guns N Roses songs. This band without Tate and DeGarmo are nothing but a QR tribute band.

Three out of five original members playing their own fucking songs is NOT a tribute. They cut the cancer out of this band and now they're having fun again for the first time in years - that's the first step to being healthy and writing some kick ass material. Yeah, it would be awesome if DeGarmo came back, too, but we'll see.

Fuck yourselves Tate-apologists...Queensryche is back!

No lead singer, no lead guitarist = glorified cover band.

Sounds like you don't know what a lead guitarist is.

Michael Wilton plays melody lines and solos, hence he's a lead guitarist.

No lead guitarist... What part of the world do you live in. Michale Wilton is founding member of this band and also lead guitarist,so next time know what you are talking about.

Well, they've been claiming all along that they really were contributing to all the albums, well now it's time to put up or shut up. Lets see if they write some new material or if they're satisfied being a glorified cover band singing Geoff and Chris' songs for the rest of their lives.

If Izzy is so convinced that he's making history then why hasn't he quit his other band yet.

Oh yeah, keep the day job.

I couldn't care less about the legalities this band is going trough, haven't followed them in many years, but this new guy sounds great.

That is all.

Bye bye.

The band sounds a lot more energetic than during the "Rising West" gigs. Todd sounds better and more in key as well (no offense Todd lol). But of course id be nervous during the first gig with my favorite band too, so all is good. They seem revitalized, and Lundgren sounds killer as well. Holy shit was this a surprise, not that I was doubting but I didn't dig the Rising West footage even half as much, and this is just KILLER. Now come around and play Wisconsin! I'm first in line right away. Yeah, he isn't as good as Tate in the golden days but he comes close at times. Not as smooth of a voice, very different in a lot of ways, but definitely potential for the best album since Promised Land...He isn't a RIpper Owens though, not even close to being a " bad clone replacement" like he was, Todd's ten times better than that....I would suggest you all check his youtube page out, (Todd La Torre), he has full albums he's written on guitars, drums, vocals, bass and keyboards, and they are very Prog Metal. If someone can write with Wilton like Degarmo in the old days ITS HIM with the help of the others of course. Seriously, this is their rebirth...

Don't know how many of you have sung on stage before. but there is no way GT is gonna sound like he did in the 80.s. But as we know that's only one of the issues. TLT seems like he can keep them in the game for awhile. I would love to hear what De Garmo's take is on this mess. Never the biggest fan but did catch them a few times in their heyday, and was always impressed.

WRONG.

I've annotated all the songs in the setlist that have contributions from other members

01. Queen Of The Reich Chris DeGarmo
02. Speak (Tate, Wilton) *
03. Neue Regel -(DeGarmo, Tate)
04. Walk In The Shadows - Chris DeGarmo, Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton *

05. En Force (Chris DeGarmo)
06. I Don't Believe In Love (DeGarmo, Tate)
07. Child Of Fire (Tate, Wilton) *
08. The Whisper - Chris DeGarmo
09. Warning (Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton) *
10. Spreading The Disease (Tate, Wilton) *
11. The Needle Lies (Tate, Wilton) *
12. Prophecy Chris DeGarmo
13. Take Hold Of The Flame (DeGarmo, Tate)
14. My Empty Room -(Tate, Wilton) *
15. Eyes Of A Stranger (DeGarmo, Tate)
16. Empire (Tate, Wilton) *
--------------
17. Wrathchild (IRON MAIDEN cover)
18. Jet City Woman (DeGarmo, Tate)
19. Roads To Madness (DeGarmo, Tate, Wilton) *

9 out of 19 songs, almost half the setlist was cowritten by Michael Wilton..

Now go fuck yourself.

but that was mediocre. The new guy can carry a tune, but he's not knocking it out of the park here. Say what you will about Tate, but if you're gonna replace him... you gotta kill that shit. His stage moves are stock. He's Blaze Bailey with a little bit more range. QR-DeGarmo-Tate = 0

There is the emotion Geoff had in the 80s and 90s missing from the new singers voice. He does sound a lot like the old Geoff though, just something missing.

Then again, I think I will remember this band by watching Operation Livecrime instead. Without Geoff they are just a cover band, with Geoff they suck. Too bad.

I agree Chris De Garmo's return would be magical but I truly believe they would carry on and write a great album, even if he doesn't return. Todd is doing a great job and all the judgmental haters can go take a hike.

This sounds like Queensryche should and the energy and positivity is back in the band. With that said many people underestimate Michale Wilton. He had a lot of great ideas and riffs back in the day when De Garmo was around and now Wilton is free again to express that.

I expect great things from this line up and so should you all. Keep an open mind the new album would rock for sure!

Geoff Tate can't sing anymore, having destroyed his voice by smoking and not caring. And even if he could sing the old songs, he wouldn't since he has often stated that he hates the old songs, as well as metal. DeGarmo left because he couldn't stand working with Tate anymore!

Also, Tate never wrote music, he wrote only lyrics. So fuck off everyone who calls the new Queensrÿche a cover band. This is the best thing that's happened to them in 20 years!

they all should have parted ways a long time ago. But they all seem to want to keep the name QR.

Tate is 53, to expect him to sound exactly like he did 30 years ago is stupid. Shredding your voice like that takes it's toll.

Todd La Torre is not a kid either but he's definitely younger than Tate. Does he have the years of playing and screaming Tate does? Doubtful.

To me this is like Boston with the Home Depot Brad Delp sound alike or the Filipino karaoke singer Journey. They all sound too much like the original singer.

At least Tim Owens sounded different than Halford, he could scream yeah but didn't have the charisma or feeling in his voice that the metal god has.

Best of luck to all involved. I'll just listen to my old QR CDs and remember how it was.
