LAMB OF GOD's Manager Says Czech Prosecutor Is Challenging RANDY BLYTHE's Increased Bail - July 25, 2012
LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe was arrested in the Czech Republic on June 27 and is facing manslaughter charges in connection with a 2010 Prague concert at which he allegedly shoved a local fan off the stage. The man, who is said to have stormed the stage three times during the show, reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage that resulted in his death nearly a month later.

Last week, the court doubled Blythe's bail from about $200,000 to about $400,000.

"[On Tuesday, July 24] the court published that they were upholding the $400,000 bail and Randy's release," LAMB OF GOD's manager, Larry Mazer, told WTVR-TV — the CBS television affiliate based in Richmond, Virginia — in an email. "The prosecutor appealed the $200,000. That appeal was turned down but the bail was raised to $400,000, which, as you know, we paid. But by Czech law, the prosecutor can challenge one more time, which he is doing and that starts the clock all over again."

Mazer did not give an expected time frame for Blythe's release, but he did say he doesn't think it will be within six days. The LAMB OF GOD tour is scheduled to start in Seattle, Washington on August 1.

An official announcement about the tour is expected tomorrow.

Blythe's Czech attorney Martin Radvan told Radio Prague that he expected Blythe to be able to travel home, but that the singer will have to return to the Czech Republic to face trial. "That's what he wants to do," Radvan said. "As a world-renowned artist, in a specific genre of music, of course, he cannot afford to simply disappear."

Radvan added that Randy's stature as a public figure makes it highly unlikely that he would vanish before the trial, saying, "There would be posters with his picture all around the world, and if he wants to continue performing, he will have to return. And he wants to return because he believes he is not guilty of anything he has been charged with."

Radvan said Blythe has been coping with his time in jail, continuing to write music and working on a book.

Martin Holub, a lawyer at Šafra & Partners, told The Prague Post if bail is revoked, Blythe could be kept in prison for up to six months.

"The authorities will be concerned about him leaving the country and then having to begin extradition proceedings," Holub said. "If, however, the appeal court confirms the decision of the previous court, Randy Blythe should be released on the day that decision is made."

Jonathan Crane, a reporter from the Prague Post, told WTVR-TV that a legal expert believes the Blythe's defense team should have quite a strong case. "Even if Randy was responsible for the alleged attack, the expert said that who is to say that he wasn't accidentally kicked or trodden on or left without help by fans below the stage," Crane said.

The U.S. Embassy in Prague on July 11 released a very brief statement regarding Blythe: "The U.S. Embassy provides standard consular services to American citizens in need of assistance. We cannot discuss specific cases due to privacy concerns."

Oh......I'd also like to add that the evidence against him is pretty weak at best and I highly doubt this case would ever make it fully through a court hearing. Well at least in America it wouldn't. If this does go trial....just wow....I don't know how anyone could convict him on the video that has been released. If anything it clearly shows security should be the one held in jail and not Randy.

For all we know, there could be a lot of people stuck in Randy's position right now. The only difference is we don't hear about them is because they're not famous on any level. Those are the ones I really feel sorry for. At least Randy has an army of support backing him up.

Randy's Czech attorney is not doing him any favors either. Smells like Kangaroo court more and more each day. Does anyone know the exact charges which were filed? From what I understand, there is no jury system in place there, and that is not good for Randy. The fans really need to get behind this and demand that the US DOJ get involved so that Randy doesn't get framed here. The DOJ should demand to see the evidence against Randy and demand his release without it being sufficient enough to detain!!

The American legal system is even worse, you don't have to be charged with a crime and you can be incarcerated indefinitely. Not even the old Soviet gulag system was that bad, they limited terms to 25 years.

I believe, as I'm sure he does, that Randy has to prove he's innocent in a fair court.
But I think there's no reason to keep him in jail or keep asking him huge sums for bail.
I doubt very much he'd run to africa in hiding the moment he was released.
So, free Randy Blythe.

So what if Blythe did push him causing him to hit his head and die. He had no business going on the stage. Considering what happened with Dimebag, bands have no idea what people are going to do and should be able to protect themselves when security drops the ball.

Somebody said it best, the prosecutor is trying to make a name for himself. Lawyers will go after anybody just to see what will stick.

They just gotta say you are a possible terrorist. It never happens though to much work... they will just blow up your house and call your children militants.

I just went through a trial in America had NO evidence against me and it took over 2 years to be resolved. Unanimous jury decision in my favor. Fucking prosecutors judges and defense lawyers are all buddy buddy go golfing together and don't give a fuck about you.

If we didn't have a jury system in America it would be worse than it is now. In fact jury's have so much power even if the state proves you were guilty you can be found not guilty through jury nullification. This is something that should be utilized more often for victimless crimes like possession of controlled substance.

Hell if the cops kick down your door and wreck your house and find out they read the warrant wrong and got the wrong house (which happens often) they don't even have to pay for the damage to your house.
