SEX PISTOLS: 'Never Mind The Bollocks' 35th-Anniversary Super-Deluxe Box Set Due In September - July 25, 2012
As one of the most iconic and influential albums in music history, "Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols" still sounds as powerful and unique as ever, 35 years since the original release. As such an important musical and cultural force the album changed the landscape for records and the music industry. The SEX PISTOLS defined a generation and captured a feeling within the nation that simply no one else could of. The band created a truly distinctive sound and "Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols" impact and influence still strongly resonates with musicians, artists and people to this day. To celebrate its 35th anniversary, Universal Music U.K. has assembled a super-deluxe box-set release that really does this legendary album justice.

While many fans will undoubtedly be of the opinion that there can be very little left in the SEX PISTOLS vaults that hasn't already been seen and heard, followers of the band will be thrilled by the treasure trove of music, footage, interviews, pictures and artifacts confirmed to be included.

The original master tapes from the "Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols" recording sessions in 1977 were thought to be lost for many years. Now thankfully rediscovered during the recent move from Virgin Records to Universal Music catalogue in January 2012, the tapes have been remastered, for the very first time, by Tim Young under direction from original producer Chris Thomas. Some real treats have also been found along the way. The find that will perhaps excite fans the most is the lost 1977 demo studio recording of "Belsen Was A Gas", the only original SEX PISTOLS composition of the era thought not to be recorded.

Other treats include the inclusion of six demos first included on the infamous "Spunk" bootleg album, released for the very first time in their original, untouched form following the very recent discovery of their original master tapes. These, combined with a selection of unreleased Chris Thomas demos and outtakes from the recording of the album — including tracks with Sid Vicious on bass — plus a wealth of live audio and visual material all from 1977 make up a box set that will truly satisfy fans of the band.

The 35th-anniversary "Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols" super-deluxe box set will be made available in the U.K. on September 24.

Below is a breakdown of the contents:

who owns the music/recordings? Johnny Lydon and the boys or EMI? won't buy this since I already own the cd of Bollocks, especially if the money isn't going to the musicians/songwriters.

Yeah, but that CD sounds like shit. I have the same one. It badly needs remastered. Now we can have a CD that might actually sound as good as the original LP.

Talk about re-packaging something which has already been milked to death. Adding as much sugar coatings on a dry cake won't make it more attractive. As much as the Sex Pistols have been 'influential' (read: they got the big label push, others didn't), this album has very little value for people not owning it already. It didn't stand the test of time that well, I think.

Oh, and deluxe remastered editions are so 'PUNK' to begin with...

It's a decent album, but the Pistols seemed more about image to me. If you're interested in real punk rock, look no further than the first four Ramones albums.

You're right...the Ramones looked punk, image and sound, the were the real deal. their first couple of albums, these guys played on cheap shitty instruments, but their sound is classic and withstanding. The Sex Pistols were tripe right out of the gate, corporate picked Punk rock, image, the whole nine. Watch the friggin' videos, Steve Jones is playing a Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar, a $5K guitar, yet, their pissing and moaning about everything, yeah that's real punk...

Steve Jones stole that guitar. What - you thought he could afford to buy one...even at 1970's prices?

Worth it for the studio run through of Belsen Was A Gas. This album really needed the remaster treatment. The other stuff I've already got in one form or another, but yeah, Belsen was a great tune. A gas, you might say.

Ramones came up with the sick lyrics and machine gun guitars with a New York attitude. They left tons of music that varied through the years.

Sex Pistols were a rough, blunt with a thick English accent and attitude. The sound was raw, but they made a career off one record (which they're proud of doing).

Fantastic album which holds up to this day. Steve Jones is a monster on this recording. I own this on vinyl (given to me in the early 80's...I was 12) and CD. Really no need for me to get this.

Bollocks is not overrated ( it's a classic) but it has been milked to death.

Love the misfits, their crappy production is what gives the music its charm. As for the Ramones....well, the greatest punk band ever. The Clash is very close second.

If John, DeeDee, and Joey were alive, they would all agree that Ramones were not punk rock - they all hated that label.

I thought punk bands and their fans are against capitalism and making money? So then what's the purpose of this box set?

Except when the bands are selling all kinds of merchandise at Hot Topic and other stores and the fans are buying it up.

Don't tell me it's the record company. The Sex Pistols have been making money off of all the merchandise and re-issued CD's that have been out for years.

But it's all about the music and the message, right???

Fans can buy this box set if they have any money left over after they buy their Che Guevara merchandise from Hot Topic at their local mall.

like Lemmy says: "It's all Rock & Roll"

one of my top ten most listened to albums ever in my life

this turns me on more than Metallica or ANY "Thrash" band ever could.

"punk" lasted for about a year and then any band worth a shit evolved past it (and were never forgiven by the punks !)

John Lydon is still King Of All Redheads and even Axl would agree

You actually believe that shit? Sure - McLaren was instrumental in getting the band off the ground, but the core of band itself formed before McLaren came into the picture.

True - the Pistols were The Monkees Part 2.
But the Dead Kennedys were as socially conscious here in the USA.
Black Flag was more in ya face and violent.
That's the essence of 'punk' rock to me. The Ramones were not 'punk' rock. Pistols were 'punk' only in the image of Jonny Rotten and Sid Vicious.
That said,., I liked the Pistols and 'Bollocks' deserves this treatment. Theres an audience for it. But I'll pass.

"I thought punk bands and their fans were against capitalism And making money"

Yeah and you probably think marilyn manson had his bottom ribs taken out

Its wrong to say all punk is anti capitalist same as its wrong to say all metal is satanic, do some homework, punk is just about doing your own thing. Johnny ramone was a huge conservative, that doesnt fit into postcard defintions of punk either

The stereotype of punk being mohawks and anti capitalism came about because the media cant sell something that doesnt have a bullshit stereotype they can put on a tshirt. If you buy into it, it just shows you have weak defences

Didn't they hire people to play on this record because he band couldn't or rather, didn't know how to play their instruments? Everyone that says this band is great are either American or British.

Image is everything to them, not true talent. This bores me.....
