VOLBEAT Frontman Joins ICED EARTH On Stage In Colorado; Video Footage, Photos Available - July 19, 2012
Vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen of Danish metal rock 'n' rollers VOLBEAT joined ICED EARTH on stage on July 15 at City Auditorium in Colorado Springs, Colorado to perform ICED EARTH's classic theme song "Iced Earth". Fan-filmed footage of his appearance can be seen below. Check out photos at this location.

VOLBEAT and ICED EARTH are currently touring North America as part of a three-band package also featuring HELLYEAH.

In a September 2011 interview with Aux Portes Du Métal, ICED EARTH mainman Jon Schaffer was asked what new groups he finds interesting. "VOLBEAT is a really cool band," Schaffer replied. "I wish I had discovered them earlier… But they're really excellent. It's really fresh and inspiring to see a band that has so many different influences and still make their own thing. Michael and I are actually good friends now, we met at the Graspop [Metal Meeting] festival [in Belgium]. We had a blast, drank a bottle of whisky each that night. This guy has followed ICED EARTH since the beginning. He told me this story how the day our first album came out, he just had enough money to go the store by bus, buy the CD and go back home. He's a great guy, and his music is really cool… This band is getting bigger and bigger and they totally deserve it."

Poulsen and Schaffer revealed several months ago that they are planning to collaborate on an as-yet-undisclosed new project. No further details are currently available.

Funny.. good example of someone who CAN play these songs, but CHOOSES not to compose/create these songs and make records of more complex songs

I saw VolBEAT the other night, in Anaheim.
I had heard of them, but hadn't actually heard them yet.
They were GREAT! Micheal Denner(ex-Mercyful Fate, King Diamond) on lead guitar. It was like Motorhead, meets the Todies, meets slayer.
They even did Rein in blood for the encore.

I think you meant Micheal Denner's MF bandmate;
Hank Shermann on Lead Guitar.
Denner toured with them in 2010, but either one of those dudes Are Metal Legends!!

I was in attendance, a couple feet away. Didn't realize this was as big a deal as it actually was. I figured this was a nightly occurrence, but obviously not. It was a cool little jam.

Fucking Kicks Ass... Was at the Aneheim show as well... Enjoyed Iced Earth, Hellyeah was so so... Sounded repititous and the banter in between was some drunk jock shit... But compared to the band that opened the night before Iced Earth...Horrendous....
