ZAKK WYLDE: RANDY BLYTHE 'Would Never Hurt A Fan' - July 18, 2012
Legendary guitarist Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) is one of a number of musicians who have come out in support of LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe, who is facing manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic.

Blythe, 41, is accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer allegedly either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel N. — a guitarist in a local metal band — and that person died almost a month later of bleeding in the brain.

Randy has been charged with causing "bodily harm of the fourth degree, resulting in the death of a fan" and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Speaking to AOL's Noisecreep, Wylde said, "The whole thing is, [Randy is] a good dude. Nobody really knows what happened over there but Randy would never hurt a fan. A freako jumps on stage, he has every t-shirt, every record, he's a fan — one of your guys. And you never hurt one of your guys. So it just sucks all the way around and I hope he gets out soon. But look, things are changing today and we all have to be careful."

He continued, "Ever since [late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist] Dimebag [was murdered onstage], I start to think, fans should not get up on stage. I know with a lot of the hardcore shows and all of the 'wall-of-death' bullshit that fans want to go physical, but if you encourage that as a lead singer, you better be ready to take responsibility. We don't even throw drumsticks out anymore since someone got hit in the eye and sued. Fuck, I remember Ozzy, at an Ozzfest show in Phoenix. Some bonehead lady has like a one-year-old there. Leave the fucking kid home! Or I'll take care of the baby backstage! Just get out of the heat, you idiot! Oz sees her, feels bad for the kid because Oz is a good guy, and tosses a bottle of water down. It hits the kid. Bam! $80,000 lawsuit. So I don't know what all the answers are. But at Yankee Stadium, if you run on the field, you don't just get escorted out. You get arrested. So maybe things need to get a little more serious from security. Yeah, I know stage diving is part of the experience at certain shows — so it's a tough call — but more people will get hurt if nothing changes."

Cause he's better than you at guitar?

Maybe he wouldn't intentionally hurt a fan, but might he push a fan out of his personal space?

He would never hurt a fan... and yet he's responsible for the accidental death of a fan. Go figure.

Hey Scatter, go back to rimming your mother and STFU.

Fans get stupid, and put everyone at risk for injury or death. It's happened many times, and artists are just there to play, and can't be held accountable for the actions of the people in the crowd, especially if they're trying to bypass security to get onstage.

Security needs to step up their game; it's their job, period. If people get out of line, they need to be escorted out, not choked, not beaten, just removed.

You're partially right. The security needs to step up their game. But its still irresponsible for a band member to throw a fan off a stage even if he shouldn't be there in the first place. Let security do their jobs and take care of it.

But you do Zakk with your repetitive pinch harmonics. So you better not go to the czech republic.... on second thought you better head over there right now.

i am SICK of hearing zakks pinch harmonics, he seems to think they are clever and that they make him great. let me tell you, i could do pinch harmonics all over the neck when i was aged 8, and obv are something a child can play. i stopped listening to ozzy after the first album zakk was on, because of the pinch harmonics

And yet that's why he had a go at his own bandmate. Luckily, Mark whupped his ass. On film, no less.

yeah, that's really up for debate, and that might be the most controversial thing you've ever posted. I just don't see how a kid who gets past security, jumps off stage a few times in a row and is told repeatedly not to do that is not liable for his own actions. Explain that to me.

...he just kills them! ;-) Sorry!

He obviously doesn't intentionally hurt a fan, but he's not beyond pushing a fan of the stage.

That's why it's called "manslaughter in the 4th degree" not "murder in the first/second degree"; because it's non-intentional. Whether he "would" do it intentionally is therefore irrelevant.

"Nobody really knows what happened over there"

-----------

Exactly! So why is every rock star coming out and defending Blythe when they don't know? They are making statements of fact out of ignorance. That's why there are trials, so the truth can be determined. But all these supporters don't want a trial, or for him to even be held. It's ridiculous.

Died a month later? A lot of shit can happen to a security-defying-moron like this dead kid. He might have hurt his head in the pit later after the incident, or before... hell, a week before at an other show, or the week after. Or maybe he just got beat up in the alley behind the bar for trying to repeatedly jump on someone's car. Who fucking know? The entire thing is fucking fishy to begin with.
