3 INCHES OF BLOOD: Fans Have No One To Blame But Themselves If They Get Hurt Jumping Off Stage - July 18, 2012
Vocalist Cam Pipes of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada-based metallers 3 INCHES OF BLOOD is one of a number of musicians who have come out in support of LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe, who is facing manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic.

Blythe, 41, is accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer allegedly either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel N. — a guitarist in a local metal band — and that person died almost a month later of bleeding in the brain.

Randy has been charged with causing "bodily harm of the fourth degree, resulting in the death of a fan" and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Speaking to SkullsNBones.com, Pipes said, "I haven't seen the video of the alleged incident, but I find it strange that it's only being brought to light two years later. Must suck to be in jail in a foreign country especially under questionable circumstances. I hope Mr. Blythe doesn’t get a raw deal on this."

When asked what he does when a fan jumps on stage and doesn’t jump off, Pipes said, "When a fan gets on stage and doesn't immediately jump off, I usually give a nudge or a little push to get them on their way and they jump off after that. The odd time a fan will hang out too long dancing around or stand there with his arms up and I'll have to forcibly shove them off the stage."

He added, "I understand that fans are gonna stage dive — it's a part of metal — but there's very little space on stage as it is for the band to perform, so if you have to get up there, get off as quickly as you can, don't interfere with what the band is doing."

On the topic of whether he has ever injured a fan while performing, Pipes said, "People hurt themselves in the pit and when they stage dive, too. I've pushed people off the stage and seen them not get caught too well and maybe hit the ground hard or awkwardly, but I've seen it happen more when I didn't have to push them off at all. When a fan gets up on stage, they've made the choice to get off it somehow, so if they get hurt jumping off, just like when they get hurt in the pit, they have no one to blame but themselves."

Look at that pic!

Looks like the thought of fans jumping off stage, drove him to hide inside an egg yolk

This should not even be an issue - if you jump on a stage, do so with the thought that you might end up fucked up.

Yeah - it sucks that a kid was killed. What really sucks is that someone is being held accountable for another person's choice to engage in a dangerous activity.

It does not matter who pushed that kid off a stage, or who might have (accidentally) stomped on his head in the crowd. One fact is completely clear: when that kid jump on stage, he set into motion whatever consequences may come. Unfortunately (for him) the consequence was death.

blah blah blah you suck.

Seriously though, it may be the fan's stupidity but you still don't have the right to shove someone off of a stage in a way that they might get hurt just 'cause you're pissed off.

Get security to haul them off stage and throw them out of the venue and then it will stop.

Perhaps the show should be stopped so the 'fan' can be asked nicely if he/she would please leave the stage. Sure - and before the 'fan' leaves, he/she could be given a bag of swag...?

Get the fuck off the stage immediately or risk betting a foot up your ass.

Eight years ago, I was crowdsurfing at a concert, the guy below me slipped, I fell, and broke my foot. Whose fault was it? Mine. I decided to do what I did. I dealt with it. When it comes to fans that go on stage and make total asses of themselves, we all know you're there to have a great time. But the band is tere to do their job. Don't fuck with them.

how playgrounds are no longer dangerous, with their rubberizing the ground with ground up tires, everything metal is sheathed in rounded plastic (for your safety) softened and making sure you don't get hurt. Don't wanna hurt yourself. Right?

Maybe this is what concert promoters and arenas should do. Rubberize the floor, give em hockey helmets and safety glasses, foam pad the pit and sanitize EVERYTHING.

Now we must now pussify concerts. Don't people have enough common sense to add 1 plus 1? "hmm, I go up on stage, jump around, I might get pushed off stage on to hard concrete and may break a bone or two, or worse".
You can have fun at these concerts, but is common sense out of style?
Please tell me people know what choices and consequences for your actions can do.

Think.

Yeah - so? That is par for the course and always has been at metal shows. If you don't want to risk being tossed from a stage, don't get on the stage.

Who cares if he was pushed off that is part of package when you get up on stage. Now if all the pussies up front just standing there would have just simply caught him this wouldn't have happened.

...but when an artist pushes someone off stage and that one gets hurt then it's the artist, who has to deal with the consequences. No one to blame than himself.
