Former STATIC-X Bassist TONY CAMPOS Has 'No Interest' In Working With WAYNE STATIC - July 16, 2012
Bassist Tony Campos (SOULFLY, POSSESSED, STATIC-X, ASESINO, MINISTRY, ATTIKA 7) has issued the following statement:

"I keep getting asked about this STATIC-X / PRONG tour coming up, so I want to clear up a few things. I have no interest in working with [STATIC-X mainman] Wayne Static, now, or anytime in the foreseeable future, so I will not be part of this version of STATIC-X. As for PRONG, I will not be performing with them due to my current commitments to SOULFLY. However, I do look forward to working with PRONG again in the near future. If you haven't checked out [PRONG's new album] 'Carved Into Stone' yet, what the hell are you waiting for?"

The new touring lineup of STATIC-X will consist of the following musicians:

Wayne Static - Guitar, Vocals
Sean Davidson - Drums
Ashes - Guitar
Brent Ashley - Bass

Speaking to Loudwire, Wayne stated about his new bandmates, "We all get along really good, actually. It's kind of a different vibe behind the scenes. As far as onstage, though, it's all business. We all have a great time as always and put on a great show. This tour in particular, we're playing a lot of old stuff off of the first two records."

Regarding his decision to resurrect STATIC-X, Wayne said, "I really just wanted to go back to old-school STATIC-X since the band has been gone for a few years. The last tour I was on I did a lot of my solo stuff, and I'm ready to get back to old-school STATIC-X stuff, which is actually new again."

STATIC-X's upcoming trek will mark the band's first outing since they announced a hiatus in 2009.

Athough none of the other original members — Tony Campos (bass), Koichi Fukuda (guitar) and Nick Oshiro (drums) — will be joining Wayne on this tour, Tony previously said that he was supportive of his former bandmate's decision to reform the group, saying, "I'm proud of my years with STATIC-X, and want to see the name of the band stay alive and well. I hope that all of our fans will continue to support both Wayne and I in our individual endeavors."

"Cult of Static", the latest album from STATIC-X, sold 19,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 16 on The Billboard 200 chart.

STATIC-X's previous CD, "Cannibal", opened with more than 30,000 copies back in April 2007 to land at No. 36. This represented a slight drop from the 35,000 tally registered by the band's "Start A War" album, which came out in June 2005 and debuted at No. 29.

What a joke. Wayne is a fucking moron. He obviously wasn't selling tickets as a solo artist so he is now using the name Static-X to go out and try and sell some tickets. This isn't Static-X this is Wayne's solo project labeled as "Static-X". Tony is good guy so he had to say he supported this but believe me he, just like most other people, think it's a joke.

The only thing that would make this tour awesome would be if Tony did a double set with Prong and Static-X

I don't want to see Wayne on stage with his hooker, strung out wife prancing around like she thinks she is hot... because she is NOT. She is a nasty coked out hooker.

Good thing i saw Static play for their Cult of Static tour...

great fucking show! i also saw static on his solo shit, he CLAIMS that he played alot of solo stuff (4 songs) and like 9 static songs!

i agree that this is like Axl running with the Guns n Roses name...

sad, but i still love the music.

So like, I get that it's just Wayne and I'm the last person who wants to stand up for that guy and his other half-his-age half. Watching clips of those two prancing around during his solo shows was a sad sight a la Spinal Tap at the puppet show or something.

But he DID pretty much write 100% of Static-X's material, it's called "Static" for a reason. His songs = his band, imo.

I suppose I'll miss Tony's "shart screams" though...

Soulfly are far more credible than Static-X so Campos needs to just stick with his current gig.

These guys opened up for me for the last leg of my Dope Show Tour.
Tony was always real cool.

I Miss Waynes deep throat on my knob though. Was kinda a ritual we had going. If we were in a city with a population less than 25,000 he would have to blow me after soundcheck and that would be it. Anything over - he would rim me while I would shoot my load on the face of his Hooker of that week while still perched on Wayne's face.

Those were great days

Damn thats crazy that Tony is supportive of Wayne continuing the band name. Royalties maybe? Either a bit of that or Tony is just an awesome guy. Ive met the man and hes pretty boss. Wayne on the other hand... yeah hes a bit messed up and went all out crazy once he got married. Oh well.
Heres to Tonys career and bro looking forward to the next Asesino album too!
