SLASH 'Starting Work' On Next Album - July 15, 2012
During a new interview with RollingStone.com, legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) revealed that he is already looking ahead to recording his next album, to feature the same band with which he made the current "Apocalyptic Love" CD. "We've got the tour that's gonna go into next year, we're starting work on the next record," Slash said.

Slash and his band MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORSMyles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass) and Frank Sidoris (guitar) — announced a fall headlining tour starting September 4 in San Diego, California and wrapping October 3 in Los Angeles, California.

Slash scored his first-ever No. 1 hit at rock radio as a solo artist with "You're A Lie", the first single from his second solo effort, "Apocalyptic Love". The record came out on May 22 and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart a week later, selling 38,000 copies in its first week of release.

Unlike Slash's solo debut, which featured different vocalists on each track and a number of guest musicians, Slash has recorded all of the new CD with his touring band, MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS.

Slash co-wrote all the material with ALTER BRIDGE singer Myles Kennedy and told The Pulse Of Radio that they never struggled to find a groove together. "There was never any kind of like, 'OK, we need to sit down and focus on writing,'" he said. "Just whenever ideas happened, I would just lay them down, and if I thought it was good enough to send to him, then I'd send it to him. And he miraculously would come up with melodies for everything I came up with, and it just happened like that."

Slash and his band recently completed a month-long tour of Europe.

if Slash played hockey
he'd constantly be sent to the penalty box for "Slashing"

Looking forward to seeing them in the fall. But kinda wish he would move on with a new band for a new album. 3 different albums with different bands sets up a dynamic that works for him. Bring back Rod Jackson as the singer!

Slash has to be one of the busiest guys in rock. He loves what he does and he does it pretty well. Rock on.

I don't get how people actually like his last 2 solo albums, very big disapointments in my opinion. Was expecting so much more from both, sounds like bland Nickelback, 3 Doors Down kinda stuff. Compared to the riffs and solos he did with Guns or even Snakepit, its is so weak.

I prefer Slash in GnR too but hey, like that will ever happen.

I could care less about VR but each to their own.

I dont think slash has the Piss and Vinegar in his blood anymore to kick out those old school jams. Thats why it sound bland like Nickelback. theres no hunger and no big balls swingin either in the riffs. And as far as blues-based rock, I listen to the new Joe Bonamessa 10-to-1 over Slashs record.

Id actually like to see Slash evolve kind of like how Robert Plant made Raising Sand. Look at All the Kings Horses. Its one of the greatest songs Plant has ever done and he could only do it because he allowed himself to grow.

Not saying it has to be that quiet and gentle but there is a lot of unexplored territory that Slash could visit.

I thought there was some nice riffs and heavy sound, with good solos on A.L. And the collab album was pretty fantastic too. I love Myles's singing from day one in alter Bridge.

I like Slash and would love to see him with this great band, but I think the material is weak. Sorry.

the songs on Chinese Democracy are a million times better and I can't wait to hear the next batch of Axl's Guns & Roses songs

I wish he would do another Snakepit record.

watched that guitar center concert last nite---pretty good stuff
---
you know what i kind of noticed is that --the fact that he has all those chord progressions--that they use---comes off pretty fresh nowadays---kind of his jimmy page sort of side
---
alot of bands are just screwing up pantera---very closed minded arrangements alot of times
--
none of that with slash---

you are so fucking on the money with that robert plant comment bro...All The Kings Horses is one of the greatest songs hes ever done

Those albums hes done recently kick ass!!

Slash is tied to remaining commercial for reasons that suit him and its understandable...hes a little to afraid to let go and really do something out there just yet until hes got a solid track record. Plus its all money in his pocket at the moment...

again its chemistry, slash complimented izzy but apart they arent as good as they were together, same as duff...and they arent into the same things they used to be. I reckon slash loves modern rock more than the things he used to and he probably has really commercial taste than we realise cos some of the riff stuff he churns could be done by any modern contemporary, velvet revolver was just updated grunge music

Good for him. People used to be able to write and record two new albums a year, in between touring. A new album every six months back in the day. Even so, it's cool to hear that Slash is keeping at it with the new stuff. That's cool.
