THE ACACIA STRAIN Frontman Wants Czech Republic To 'Stop Being So Stupid' And Let BLYTHE Go - July 14, 2012
During THE ACACIA STRAIN's July 10 concert at Kingdom in Richmond, Virginia, the band's lead vocalist, Vincent Bennett, led the audience in a chant of support for LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe, who is facing manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic.

"One of my biggest fears in the entire world is being locked up in some weird fucking country for no goddamn reason at all," Vincent said from the stage (see video below). "And that's what's happening right now to Richmond's own Randy Blythe. I don't know if there is anything we can do, but I'll bet you $500 that the Czech Republic government has a Twitter or a Facebook, so you should probably write them and tell them to stop being so stupid and let this man go."

He added, "I've been to the Czech Republic, and it's very nice, but I would never wanna be jailed in it."

According to WTVR-TV — the CBS television affiliate based in Richmond, Virginia — official sources have confirmed that Blythe's next Czech court appearance in connection with the death of a fan at one of LAMB OF GOD's concerts is scheduled for Thursday, July 19.

Blythe, 41, is accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer allegedly either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel N. — a guitarist in a local metal group — and that person died almost a month later of bleeding in the brain.

Randy has been charged with causing "bodily harm of the fourth degree, resulting in the death of a fan" and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Blythe, who has already posted bail of 4 million Czech Koruna (approximately $200,000), will have been imprisoned for three weeks by the time he gets his next day in court.

just actually watched his speech. Such insane ignorance. With that said, I agree, Randy didn't do a damned thing wrong.

I don't understand why people aren't seeing what's also at stake here for metal and it's fans. If this backward assed government in Czech are allowed to imprison an artist for protecting himself or taking an initiative to do the security staff's job for them then what are concerts going to be like in the future? Are we going to see blockades and steel cages at shows from now on? I think that it's horrible what happened to the fan but after that crazy shit with Dime, how could anyone blaim the artist for being cautious of an overzealous fan? Plus, how in the hell can an artist be blamed for the lack of proper security in an establishment? Does that mean that an artist now has to hire his own security force? This is all so very stupid of the government over there and if they ever want any acts to visit their country in the future then they should think on these points and let that man go quickly..

The big picture here is that it's not an artist's job to push a fan of the stage. Usually artists are wise enough to adhere to that, knowing what could happen should that person get hurt. So other artists have nothing to worry about. They just have give strict orders to security telling them what to do should a fan try to climb the stage. And it's not like that some artists don't welcome fans getting on stage.

These are the most unfortunate words ever to come out of a bands frontman. I hope the other bands put their eyes on this guy so they won't make the same mistake. Although he will get much support from rednecks who aren't intelligent enough to understand this is the right procedure, no matter what country you are, no matter how much money you have. He must be trying to reach that fanbase. I'll pass.

Fucking redneck, if not for this speech, not a single Blabbertard (or other metalhead) would give two shits about this band.

Anyone claiming that the Czech Republic is stupid/backward/third world has no right to an opinion, they should just kill themselves and let the grown-ups talk.

I think sharing the death penalty with modern 'progressive' countries like Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Thailand hardly makes the USA a shining light as a modern judiciary.

Dude, ALL of those posts were spot on, and gave me the laugh I needed for the afternoon. Especially the "they're decent people" one, classic!!!

I'm with you on your defense of CZ as a whole, I've been there, and it's FAR from the "3rd world country" that many a moron is claiming.
