BARONESS Drummer: 'We're Fully Supportive Of RANDY BLYTHE' - July 14, 2012
During a recent interview with Loudwire, drummer and founding member Allen Blickle of the Savannah, Georgia-based quartet BARONESS was asked for his thoughts on LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe's recent arrest in the Czech Republic in connection with the death of a fan at a show more than two years ago.

"It's a huge bummer, man," Allen replied. "We were all really shocked. Our thoughts go out to him and the rest of the guys. We really hope it all gets resolved quickly. We're super close friends with those guys and we're just wishing them the best of luck. We're fully supportive of him.

When asked if Blythe's current ordeal makes him re-think BARONESS' upcoming show in the Czech Republic, Allen replied, "You mean like we wouldn't play because of that situation? I don't know. It's weird, I actually have never thought about it like that. Maybe I should have. I don't think any of us have thought of it in that way. I don't think they're handling it well. It's not his fault. It seems like it got out of hand. It really could've happened to anyone and that's kind of the shitty part about it. They just put it on Randy, that's the bad part. We've been keeping up with it and hope it gets taken care of."

I don't think Randy's situation, as sticky as it is, will keep bands from touring the Czech Republic. I mean it's not like it's legal to kill people in other countries. There are other bands with plans to play in the Czech Republic who are well aware of what's going on that aren't quitting.

Anyways, I hope everything gets resolved for Randy and the family. I think as far as comments go about the whole thing I think Dave Lombardo and Baroness seemed the most rational. Which isn't to say everyone else irrational by any means.

I dont know. I watched the video and I think Randy had a hand in killing this boy, by throwing him off the stage. The family should get a lot of money for this if the judge and jury agrees. The video is very damning for the one everyone keeps insisting is innocent. His fellow heavy metal people are all jumping to say this, at the same time admitting how partial they are to Randy, despite the video evidence. Hopefully this gets to a court of law and is decided there. It would be interesting to know what the liability is of artists in this situation who appear to have a direct hand in severely injuring or killing their fans. I also find it curious that they claim no one knew about it for two years. Maybe they don't pay attention to news articles about themselves, which would explain that.

What kind of medical treatment did this kid have? Who knows. There might be more of a case for a medical malpractice lawsuit. Again, who knows? The video is not very good medical evidence one way or the other.

Why are people supporting him so much? Because he's in a metal band he must receive support from other metal bands? So if he wasn't all these bands wouldn't care about him? That's fucking hypocrite! He clearly participated in the fall of that kid, which led to his death, willingly or not. He must pay his bill now, period.

HQNC, you just don't get it in your thick skull, do you?

Randy got taken and is being held in a foreign country in conditions that are NOT RIGHT. If it was you or your brother, an actor or someone well known in your town, you would feel for how unfair things are run like.

Well, for Randy, things are ran unfair, regardless he's famous or not. They are holding him almost "illegally", I mean, the guy can't leave, his lawyers barely speak English, they won't let anybody see him, he's not formally arrested yet, they offered to pay the bail and he is still held with no power. The media is doing nothing.

I am very concerned by the way he is being treated there AS A HUMAN BEING, not as an international star. They're being unfair and I don't like how things have been run in this case.

I really, really am waiting for new developments on this and I am hoping (not praying) for a positive outcome, despite the gravity of the whole messed up story. Those Czech so-called cops need to get shot in the butthole.

Webmaster Bori, PLEASE keep up with publishing any new information concerning Randy. That is all.

Why support or not support him? Of course he should receive help and assistance but to say he should be freed is just plain ignorant. No-one who has spoken out in his defence knows anything about what really happened that night. That is up to the court to decide as in any other country with a functional justice system. I mean, a young man died, doesn't any metal musician see the seriousness of the event?

I think it's you who doesn't quite get it;

"Randy got taken and is being held in a foreign country in conditions that are NOT RIGHT."

You don't know anymore than me or any other person who got knowledge of this by the internet, so your assumption that the conditions are not right is invalid.

"If it was you or your brother, an actor or someone well known in your town, you would feel for how unfair things are run like."

That only shows that you cannot distance yourself from the fact that you like a certain person, so anything that goes for him is unfair. Sorry that's not how the world works.

"Well, for Randy, things are ran unfair, regardless he's famous or not. This is the definition of ignorance. He's not being hold there in any form of unfairness. There is a legit suspect of him being involved in a homicide, of course he cannot leave the country. Do you think it would be any other way in another country? And the fact that you assume that his lawyers can't speak english only shows how ignorant you are. Czech Republic has a cultural history per capita much more significative than the USA ever could imagine having. I can bet my job their lawyers speak better english than the average american.

"I am very concerned by the way he is being treated there AS A HUMAN BEING, not as an international star. They're being unfair and I don't like how things have been run in this case."

Then again, I could bet my job that he is being treated way better in there than any American prison. We all know what happens there.
