Overdubbed vocals. And please ditch Drover, this guy is so weak on drums and unimaginative. Besides that, top notch.

Dave always sings quietly to try to stay on key and he doesn't move his mouth much so I can see how you may think it's memorex, but it's all live in this case...and pretty well done. I disagree about Drover too. The guy is solid as Sears, has impeccable timing and plays for the song instead of showboating. He's a perfect fit for Megadeth.

The overdubs on the vocals is so obvious. But besides that it's a great performance.

The drums lack abit of groove, other than that that was great.

What do you guys mean with overdubbed? To me these are the live-vocals, sound and lips are 100% in synch. Am I missing something here?

^ Yes you are. Bands do this all the time with live DVDs. They take out the original vocal track and record a "live" one in the studio.

I know that this is common practice.
I just do not see it here at all.
All three guys are singing and the audio matches the mouth movements 100%.

I say it's impossible to fake it that good. Give me an example where you guys think its so plain obvious. because I just do not see this at all.

You are just suprised cause Dave sounds decent. Well, count me in on that.

You, "professionals". He sings in rather relaxed surrounding, hence e better delivery.

Whoever thinks this has no overdubs has never sung into mic before. It's way too even, and there's no loss of volume when he backs off. 100% overdubbed.

Been singin in hobby-bands for quite some time, but I won't pretend knowing all about technical things.

I'd think you can equal the different volumes out in postproduction, but really, don't know enough bout that.

If these are really overdubs, chapeau, then it's done to perfection here.

Musically, technically, what they do is the best any other thrash could do. They have so much twist and turn and you'll only see it if you're very attentive and knows music a little more than the average idiot metalhead.

See. Metallica : simple music, the best thing they did is AJFA, who is the more complex they did.
Slayer : How many times can you do the same thing without being boring. Yes, they have a lot of great riffs but guitar solos sucks. If Gary Holt becomes a permanent member, at leat we'll have killers solos on a Slayer album, for once.
Anthrax : zzzzzzz. I admit Scott Ian is a great rythmn player and Benante can play, that,s for sure.

The only thrash band who could rival Megadeth technically, songwriting wise is Testament and old Exodus. And they're still far behind.

Metallica are for simpletons, Slayer for AC/DC kind of fans who like the same shit over and over and Anthrax... Well, who loves Anthrax?

...Megadeth better play instrumental songs..can't stand to hear Megadave sing. It's like somethings stuck in his anus which he just can't pull-off.Guitar wise, he's well overated!

...looking forward to whatever the 'dark roots of the earth' is,....seems like a Discovery Channel documentary-album to me, lol! Testament >>>> Megadave's Megadeth!

when Megadave was petty, angry, high and drunk? He was so much cooler, less Limbaugh-ish and the music didn't suck.

CANNOT wait for the new Testament to come out.

next.

Dave's voice is shot anymore... and to the guy who mentioned the constant volume level on the vocals when he moves away from the mic, that's how you can tell it's overdubbed right there. Hit the nail on the head.

I don't personally care if they're overdubbed... I have seen Megadeth live many times, and loved the show... if they have to re-record his vocals so they don't sound crappy, who cares. Just makes the performance sound that much better. Besides... only music nerds/tools like me notice that stuff anyways. LOL

You are aware that the recordings are mixed before they are released right? If Dave moved away from the mic a bit during the song that can be easily corrected later. They can also run normalizers and such in real time now. Hell they could correct pitches in real time very easily. There is no need to overdub anything.

The snare sounds a bit, ehhr, "canny", but the performance is top notch. Glen does look like he's not giving it too much, but it's just his style and above all: tight.
Dave's vocals are just perfect and because of that, people start wining about overdubs? Come on!
Solo's are superb too. So all in all: Great performance and nice to see them play "Angry Again", which is just a great song IMHO.

Cheers to you all people!

I love all the skeptical people here who see a Megadeth performance where Dave sounds decent and it HAS to be overdubbed. I can understand why he does it for the Megadeth dvd's, but I refuse to believe that he overdubs every single performance that is captured by a camera. Call me ignorant, call me a fanboy, I don't care, just read my comment title.

ALL of Megadeth's performances that are either on TV or DVD's feature overdubbed vocals. Its a joke even watching the performance because its not even live. At least Hetfield will let his fuck ups appear on air. I've seen Blood in the Water, the Big 4 Megadeth performance, all of the live performances of Megadeth on VH-1 performing songs, and now this = ALL OVERDUBBED VOCALS. I love Mustaine and Megadeth, but I don't care for how MegaDave always does overdubbing on all of his vocals. I watch LIVE performances because I want to see LIVE performances; not some taped shit.

Nonsense! There are plenty of tv performances of non overdubbed vocals.. In 2001 for instance, they did a LIVE show on musique plus, a Canadian music channel.. It was an accoustic set.. Dave was awesome.

Look it up.

I'm not saying he never overdubs, and in 2010 he was struggling real bad.. He had a sore back.. I seen them live myself during that tour.. He was struggling!. But to say all tv performances are overdubs is complete nonsense.
