MÖTLEY CRÜE: 'Sex' Audio Sample Available - July 12, 2012
Earlier in the year, MÖTLEY CRÜE entered drummer Tommy Lee's studio called The Atrium in Calabasas, California to begin recording a new song, "Sex", that will be released to coincide with the band's upcoming summer co-headlining tour with KISS.

Written when the band was together during their residency in Las Vegas last February, "Sex" is the first studio track from the CRÜE since their June 2008 release of "Saints Of Los Angeles".

"Sex" will debut on Friday, July 13 on SiriusXM and be available on Tuesday, July 17 — three days before the tour begins.

An audio sample of "Sex" can be streamed below. Also available is the single artwork.

Speaking to VH1 Radio Network's Dave Basner in March, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist and main songwriter Nikki Sixx stated about the band's new track, "It sounds very much like it's off of the first record [1981's 'Too Fast For Love']. And that was definitely on purpose. I've been writing very simple riffs for the last year and focusing on how these riffs would work for Vince [Neil, vocals], basically, and took it in the studio with Tommy and Mick [Mars, guitar] and the thing just came alive."

MÖTLEY CRÜE's latest studio album, 2008's "Saints Of Los Angeles", sold 99,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release. The CD was CRÜE's first studio album since 2000's "New Tattoo", which has sold over 200,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The band's previous studio effort with all of its original members was 1997's "Generation Swine", which debuted and peaked at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, and has sold more than 300,000 units.

"Saints of Los Angeles" was loosely based on the band's memoir, "The Dirt", which was published in 2001.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's "greatest-hits" collection, suitably titled "Greatest Hits", was released on November 17, 2009 via Eleven Seven Music/Mötley Records.

CRÜE performed its classic 1989 album, "Dr. Feelgood", in its entirety on Crüe Fest 2, the sophomore outing of the band's summer festival tour, to celebrate the record's 20th anniversary.

Eleven Seven Music/Mötley Records re-released "Dr. Feelgood" on September 21, 2009.

I actually had high hopes for this song (despite the title). But it doesn't sound anything like TFFL more like a cut track from SOLA.

When your songs are based on a good Mick Mars riff, and he gets that tone back, we'll give a shit again.

Man has Nikki lost his way

I like this song, Vince sings better than ever, but it doesn't sound anywhere close to Too Fast For Love.

sounds fine to me and better then most of the crap on the radio. and why should they grow and mature as songwriters? they proably have but its at least they dont show it for Motley Crue, its not like AC/DC, Iron Maiden have changed much, they are just the way the fans like them.
if sounding like Metallica if you grow and mature as songwriter means then maybe its best if noone does that, they havent made a good album in 20 years.

and its not rocket science, its rock n' roll.

if want something more complex then just do like me, go listen to Opeth, Dream Theater, King Crimson, yes, Porcupine Tree, Tool and whatever other great band. but if you just want some good old rock n'roll wich is great sometimes then go lsiten to Motley Crue.

So far not bad, but please quit referring to this as a TFFL sound. TFFL was about as punk as you can get in regards to cutting a raw record on a shoestring budget and on tape, NOT recording and engineering your tunes in a house via Pro Tools. Saints was a good album, but it could have been their best if it was recorded the way the Foo Fighters made their last record. Pro Tools sucks out the soul to your composition period. I understand that it's easy and cheap but it also comes off sounding that way too. Again, sounds good so far but like everyone else said; It sounds like something off Saints and there's a reason why.

So, Motley puts out 1 song in 4 years
there's like 14 songs on Chinese Democracy

14 x 4 years = 26 years

and Axl gets all the bashing ??

Please don't get me wrong, you're always witty, and your comments always frosty, but I'm not getting the math here. Is there some advanced formula at work? I'm serious, not being a smartass (this time, heh, heh), please enlighten/advise...

Sincerely, J. Chrysler

Jesus Chrysler....

1st off, you have an awesome handle name
most likely the best one on here

I was trying to take a dig at Motley (always fun)
and point out that this is the 1st music they've released in 4 years (1 song)

So, at that rate, to release 14 songs it would take 24 years
14 songs x 4 years (to make 1 song)
so make that...HOLY SHIT 56 years...
my math was way off before (sorry, ...stoned)

anyway, Axl could do like 4 albums in 56 years

Jesus Chrysler...thanks dude

What's the deal with these classic bands raiding "Physical Graffitti" for riffs for their new singles? Last week it was AEROSMITH with "The Wanton Song" and this week it's MOTLEY CRUE with "Custard Pie".
