Former IRON MAIDEN Singer PAUL DI'ANNO To Fans: 'You Will Be With Me Always' - July 9, 2012
Due to a number of health issues, including a knee problem which will require surgery soon, former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno announced earlier today that he will stop touring next year.

A new message from Paul on his Facebook page reads as follows: "To all of you who have been with me from the start, and many new friends who have given me the privilege of being able to play and meet so many of you through the years, I can't find the right words to tell you all how much I'll miss you. All of you have my love and respect forever, and anyone who knows me knows that ain't a load of bollocks you have kept me going through difficult times, happy times and a lot of heartbreak. I thank you all with all my heart and I'm glad you're not here right now watching me write this crying like a big Jessie (for you, mates, it means a wuss!). Thank you all again, I love you all and wish you all health, good fortune, and most of all, love and happiness. You will be with me always. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Timao Corinthians n again te amo simper. Love, Paul."

Michael Salenius, Di'Anno's Swedish booking manager and tour manager, told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that next year will be "a big, fantastic" last touring year for Paul, with a lot of solo shows, festival appearances and Di'Anno vs. Blaze Bayley concerts. You will also see various guest musicians joining Paul on stage.

Di'Anno recorded two classic albums with IRON MAIDEN before being fired and replaced by Bruce Dickinson. He went on to front a number of other bands, including KILLERS and BATTLEZONE, and released several solo records.

On August 27, 2011, Di'Anno played his first show since serving time in a U.K. prison after he falsely collected U.K. government benefits by claiming he suffered nerve damage to his back that prevented him from working.

After serving his jail term in early 2011, Di'Anno issued a short statement in which he thanked his fans for their support and claimed that he "managed not to drop the soap" during his stint behind bars.

Di'Anno completed his first North American tour in early 2010, 17 years after he was deported following a prison term for guns and drug offenses.

Really they are the only Iron Maiden albums that are worth repeated listens. 30 years later and they still sound good. The rest is dated and bland.

PAUL DI'ANNO To Fans: 'You Will Be With Me Always'

OK, this makes me f'n nervous!
After seeing that pic, I can't shake Dahmer-like images as KILLERS plays in background.

I've always felt bad for Paul. Bruce took the band to another level, but I still believe Maiden did him wrong. They were friends.
"Well, thanks mate, for these last few yrs, but it's just not working out. We need to head in a different directions all."
Paul: "Really now? In the 3 yrs I've fronted Maiden, weve toured the world, are now internationally recognized, sold millions of albums, and you know as well as I, this is just the beginning. Thanks for the loyalty, ya fookin coonts!"

The first two Maiden records are undeniably classics. Paul's voice gave those records a unique tone and personality.

Yeah and the release of Powerkillers showed a real shift toward world domination for the band indeed.

Paul's records with Maiden were great, no doubt, but to say the rest of Maiden's are not is, well, just ignorant....personally, I think Maiden's first six records are all classics!

Paul was PERFECT for the first two Maiden albums...no one could have sung that material better.

Bruce, superior singer and performer though he may be, has never been able to muster the right amount of grit and swagger to do those songs up right.

Honestly, Maiden's first seven albums represent one of the greatest runs in the history of rock'n'roll. They were unstoppable for their first decade.

Not a clunker in the batch until No Prayer in 1990.

Those first 2 are amazing. Still get excited every time I listen to them. ANd yeah actually i'd say the first 7 are classics, not just 6. Self titled until Seventh Son.

... But i dont get what hes doing now, just seems to shout all the words off key and out of time.. but the weird thing is that on the occaisions when he chooses to sing the songs properly for a line or 2 he can still do it... if he made more effort to sing properly for his final tour, that would be amazing cos at the moment he sounds like a bad kareoke version of himself

threw a dio cd out the day before yesterday. some crap with dragon or something in the title. i listened to it once and thought it was pure garbage from an old dude that hasn't had nothing more to say except repetition. i am glad he died, so he will not be able to tear his legacy further down the drain.

as for dianno: he was the way better fit for maiden. with dick in son entering, the band became corporate and we had to get used to tremolo. some great tunes they put out post-dianno, but the first 2 albums were the real deal.

...that the bass blayer is wearing a Maiden shirt with a BRUCE album cover...I think it's that little-known classic, "Piece of Time," haha.

I'm kinda surprised Di'Anno let that slide by.

Di'anno has no beef with the guys in Maiden as far as I'm aware. The main reason they replaced him was because he was unreliable, wasn't turning up to gigs or was too pissed to play etc. They knew that to get to the next level they had to have someone they could rely on.

This guy is a bullshitter to the core...He always brag that he's rich and give lots of money to charity blah blah blah... but cheat the UK gov't of thousands of $$. What a hack!
