NILE's 'At The Gate Of Sethu' Cracks German Top 30 - July 9, 2012
"At The Gate Of Sethu", the seventh full-length album from South Carolina-based extreme technical death metallers NILE, has entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 27.

"At The Gate Of Sethu" was released in Europe on June 29 and in the U.S. on July 3 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2009's "Those Whom The Gods Detest" was once again produced and mixed by Neil Kernon, who has previously worked with NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, QUEENSRŸCHE and DEICIDE, among many others. The CD artwork was handled by a true genius of darkened visuals, Seth Siro Anton (SOILWORK, PARADISE LOST, SEPTICFLESH).

In a recent interview with CobraMetal.net, Sanders stated about "At The Gate Of Sethu", "Well, we started [working on it] in May of last year (2011) after we finished our European tour. We worked on that fucking record for 10 months straight, to the exclusion of all else. (Laughs) Long hours, every day."

Regarding the new album's concept, Karl said, "It's in similar territory to other NILE records in that a lot of it stems from Ancient Egyptology and sort of has underlying modern themes tied in. We haven't abandoned our identity and I don't believe you should fuck over your fans. If your fans like what you do, and you change too much of what you do, fans don't like it. What matters to me is when I'm out on tour and I meet the actual fans and they share their thoughts…those are the people that I listen to. There's a lot of new ideas within the realm of what we do that we tried to incorporate. We studied real hard on the guitar and have lots of new riffs and musical ideas. There are a lot of surprises on the record."

When asked if fans can expect any guest appearances on the new NILE CD, Karl said, "Jon Vesano is all over this record. (Our former singer and bass guitarist who we're still good friends with.) Jon did some guest vocals on "Those Whom The Gods Detest" and it made us realize all over again all the things we really liked about Jon's vocals. We wanted to incorporate some of his insanity. [laughs] He's wicked, man. He knows how to channel that inner possession. He finds a way to summon it. It's great stuff."

He wasn't slating them at all, mearly congratulating them on their deserved chart position and then said they were underrated! You're the troll or you just have shit for brains!

Anyway, another masterpiece from one of the best death metal bands to come out in the last 15 years. Awesome album.

Battle_Magic.....users like you are the reason why I have no confidence in the human race. The inability to read a simple comment and process it correctly

Take a lesson from Sunioj and put your god damned glasses/and or brain on.

I fucking adore Nile......and getting chart positions in ANY country is a great sign that people are actually BUYING records, which means they will be able to get to travel more, get on potentially larger billings, and promote the new album, as well as gain even more fans.

Guitars sound like poop, drum sound like poop, vocals are just laughable, riffs are recycled...etc.

R.I.P. Nile, I really hoped you would have topped the last album but it didn't happen. Still, it is better than the new Fear Factory

Then you're fucking DEAF. Read any interview and it's clear that the production is old school, stripped down badassness.

The vocals and production are two major reasons WHY this thing fucking slays.

The problem these days is metal fans, especially the younger ones, are used to hearing the wall of noise guitar sound that every band seems to have these days along with the same triggered drum sound.

Remember the 90's when every band on every album had a different production? Makes all those old school albums sound individual and unique. Most fans these days are more concerned who is the fastest and most brutal instead of actual songwriting or bands trying a different production/styles etc.

Nile intentionally used a stripped down production and ultra clean sound because the guitars are so technical on this release. Trolls like Walrus Rimjob will NEVER understand this.

Yes, Vocals. Death Metal has vocals, not singing like you're favorite Metalcore boy bands..

For those complaining about the production... what the fuck are you smoking? The guitars sound great. There are some excellent riffs that slither their way through your brain. "Supreme Humanism of Megalomania" is fucking GREAT.

Got it for couple of days and it`s great like all NILE realeses. I thought it was impossible to match TWTGD complexity of guitar riffs, but "At the Gate..." is just superior to all of their catalogue in this matter. And "Supreme Humanism of Megalomania" is killer song!

Gets the Dumbass of the Day Award.

As for people complaining about production. Go listen to it on a stereo with real speakers instead of computer or bookshelf speakers or ipods with headphones. The sound is amazing...easily their best sounding album.

Nile has always been about the quality of their material, from the music right down to the packaging. This album is no exception and simply slays. Sorry if its too much for the simple minded to take in.

This is a sign of hope that good taste in music is still prevalent. These guys don't half ass shit, they even give extensive linear notes on lyrical subject matter. How many bands do that?...Nile continue to be a band others should look up to to see how to do shit right.

Very good album, i like the more frequent use of the aggressive higher pitched vocals. It makes the Nile-Sound more diverse, probably its Jons possesed performance \m/
Then again the double-bass could have more Warrior-Boom, you know the Boom, the Boom!
h..p://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLIhWybVTEQ

#27 - how many units would that be, 500 or 1.000?
