DISTURBED Frontman: RANDY BLYTHE Is 'No Murderer' - June 30, 2012
When asked by a person on Twitter how he felt about LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe "slaughtering" a fan during a Prague concert two years ago, leading to Randy's arrest past Wednesday when he tried to re-enter the country, DISTURBED frontman David Draiman replied, "[Randy] didnt 'slaughter' anyone. The kid jumped on stage and started a brawl, and Randy defended himself. That his life was lost in the process is truly unfortunate, but Randy is my friend and he's no murderer. I feel for the child and for the family and for Randy, but you have to understand that ever since Dimebag Darrell [late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist] was assaulted, shot, and murdered on stage by a 'fan,' all of us have been very defensive/cautious of anyone jumping up on stage. I'm not saying that it's OK, or justified, or anything like that, only that it's an unfortunate/tragic set of circumstances, and that I know Randy's intention was not to kill the kid. That's my opinion. I've heard yours. That is all."

Blythe, 41, is accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer apparently either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel N. who had come on stage, and that person died 14 days later of bleeding in the brain.

According to WTVR-TV, another Czech online news site, Aktualne.cz, has published statements from a witness — a friend of the victim — who said the fan wasn't using drugs or alcohol and fell back directly on his head. The victim lapsed into a coma and died two weeks later.

The crime of which Blythe is being accused is punishable by up to ten years in prison, according to popular Czech news web site Novinky.cz.

Did the kid really jump on stage to fight? I doubt it. This story is so fucked on all sides.

Draiman should know; his band has been murdering the ears of real music fans for years.

I'm not saying Randy is guilty or anything, but all these fellow musicians proclaiming his innocence are just like parents who say "my little angel would never do anything like that". when their kids are accused of doing something terrible. Unless they were there and saw what happened, they don't know for sure that Randy is innocent. Friends and family will almost always stand up for one of their own when they are accused of a crime, regardless of whether they are guilty or not.

My gut instinct, is that Randy is not guilty, or at the very least, didn't mean to kill the guy, but again, I was not there, so cannot say for sure.

Its Manslaughter, obviously because if he did cause it, it was unintended.

To be honest, I hope this gets thrown out of court when it goes to trial, if anyone is to blame its the venue and security for letting the guy get up there so many times in the first place. Stagediving may be cool for some, but to continually get up in the singer's face a few times and not expect to at least get a knock is being retarded.

Very unfortunate the kid died, but if theres any justice Randy will be cleared. As a lot of people have said, if they were aware of this then LOG would never have gone back to the country.

If it was that much of a big deal then surely extradition charges would've been brought when the kid died two years ago? Its not like Randy would have been hard to find?!

This shit stinks of someone wanting money, not justice.......

What a bunch of shit. The way this is portrayed, it sounds like the singer whipped out a knife and gutted the kid. Pushing him or hitting him in a way that caused him to hit his head is totally different. To most of the idiots that do the stage diving and and the rest of the stupid shit, that's not only what they expect, it's what the want. Death is just a rare and unfortunate but totally foreseeable side-effect.

Never a fan of Disturbed's music but I have much respect for Draiman and he's right on with his tweet. The stage belongs to the band, unless your invited up expect to get treated like an armed tresspasser. It's for the protection of the band, their crew and the audience.

just like all those innocent thugs on the west side of our great city.
was your jabroni midget ass there to witness this assault?

it was more likely nothing more than a kid getting caught up in the moment and randy pushing someone who invaded his personal space.

It sounds like the "assault" was committed by the kid who died. I'd like to see what happens when somebody (repeatedly) invades your personal space. Do you give them a big sloppy kiss, or do you ask Jeeves to kindly escort them to the viewing area?

I'm sure you've heard this on plenty of occasions throughout your life, so this should be easy for you to take: no, I do not want to suck your dick.

On another note, congratulations on the President's recent endorsement for you people to get married! I'm truly happy for you.

lol just for shits and giggles, go look up what happens when someone jumps up on a stage at a 50 cent show, and people have a right to an opinion, how about you shut the fuck up and let people think for themselves?

I wish people would stop coming with the knee-jerk defense before all the evidence is presented.

Believe me, I understand the human impulse to defend someone who you consider a good friend, but we need to wait for the facts to come out before declaring his innocence.

He's not being accused of murder...and as stupid and dangerous as it is to jump onstage at a concert, pushing someone OFF a stage is also pretty stupid.

It may have been a reflexive response and I don't necessarily blame Blythe for doing it since you never know what kind of an unstable nut might run onstage...

...but if the dude smashed his head and died as a result of the fall, that could very well fall under the category of "manslaughter."

Blythe had no intention of killing the guy obviously (NOT murder) but if that's the way it went down, then he's in a shitload of trouble.

It's a sad situation all around.

a lot of people keep saying that had LOG known about this they wouldn't have visited the Czech Republic in the first place. while this might be logical, they would have had to avoid the whole European Union and most of Europe since the Czech Republic is a part of it, and the laws are uniform all over the Union...

I'm sure a decision can be reached after video and fan evidence has been analysed.

It does seem strange that it's only now that Randy is being questioned.

MOST if not all of these so-called "friends" of Blythe, doesn't even know the difference between murder and manslaughter. Sure you'll defend the guy all day WITHOUT even waiting for the WHOLE investigation to run its course...pathetic. Some of those tweets didn't even have any sympathy for the kid who lost his life. My take thus far...a video is being analyzed and all the evidence are being run through, and it sounds like Blythe might be in some trouble...but not a "murder" charge. RIP to the fan.

Dimebag Darrell - shot to death. In America. By an American.
John Lennon - shot to death. In America. By an American.
Marvin Gaye - shot to death. In America. By an American.
Tupac Shakur - shot to death. In America. By an American.

And Randy was afraid for his life in the Czech Republic ?

Maybe he shoulda stayed home where apparently musicians are safer ?

Just like Scott Ian, David wasn't there at the time it happened. He needs to mind his own business and move on. And the Czech should band Randy & LOG for life. from ever playing there again!
