RANDY BLYTHE's Brother: 'We're Hoping For The Best' - June 30, 2012
"We're all concerned about him. We're hoping for the best," Mark Blythe, the brother of LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe told WTVR-TV, the CBS television affiliate based in Richmond, Virginia, on Friday (June 29).

Czech police spokeswoman Jana Rosslerova told the Associated Press that that a court is set to rule today (Saturday, June 30) on whether to continue detaining Randy in connection with the death of a fan more than two years ago.

Rosslerova said that Blythe was arrested Wednesday, accused of causing bodily harm resulting in death — a crime punishable by up to ten years in prison, according to popular Czech news web site Novinky.cz.

Blythe, 41, is reportedly accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer apparently either pushed or struck the fan who had come on stage, and that person later died.

According to WTVR-TV, another Czech online news site, Aktualne.cz, has published statements from a witness — a friend of the victim — who said the fan wasn't using drugs or alcohol and fell back directly on his head. The victim lapsed into a coma and died weeks later.

LAMB OF GOD was scheduled to perform on Thursday at the Rock Café in Prague with SKELETONWITCH and ALL SHALL PERISH but that show ended up getting canceled.

LAMB OF GOD's publicist, Adrenaline PR, issued a statement yesterday stressing that "under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved [during LAMB OF GOD's 2010 concert]. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head."

Watch a new two-minute video report from WTVR-TV below.

In Deathspawner's defense, he is a fan of Insane Clown Posse, so he obviously has an inferior mental capacity and therefore cannot be held accountable for the things that he says.

kinda weird how everyone mentions that the singer has been sober for " a year or two ". so maybe in a drunken stage/ performance show he gave a dude a bit much of a shove?

would suck if that was the case, but more than likely they are looking for some quick $$$

him being in the lock-up he should come up with some good song/lyrics... eh?

what does RiotAct666 think of this delema?

He did nothing wrong. Ever since December 8 2004, I don't see anything wrong with bands defending themselves while on stage. Do your job security.

Defending themselves? Where does it say he was getting attacked? It says there was "no kind of fight" right there in the press release from the bands management, can you read?

Someone died due to the actions of another person, doesn't matter where it happened there's a case to answer. End of.

it also says AFTER "no kind of fight" that.."the fan jumped the barricade 3 times and rushed randy"...

So as fucked as it is that this person died...the moral of the story is dont rush th fuckin lead singer 3 times.. doesnt matter who the artist is, they put the're lives on the line, at some piont you gotta do what you have to, let him go,thats the end of homie.

because of injuries sustained from falling off the stage, then guess what....there are no public seats on the stage. he was tresspassing, period. he had no business, or legal right whatsoever, being up there unless he was in the band, employed by the band, or working for the venue in some capacity. this is the most ridiculous shit i've ever heard of. it is sad, unfortunate, tragic, all of those things for sure. but manslaughter?? you gotta be kidding me.

METAL singers should *not* be held axcountable for someone dying in a moah pit, even if they did physically touch the person. Mosh pits happen. Risks are involved. If you are downing LOG for this, yoy need to get the fuck off this metal site, because you don't understand what metal is about. I have met Randy, and he is not a murderer. I have serious doubts that the push and the injury in question are even related, but even if they are, you moshed onto the stage and got moshed back off of it. Sorry about your unlucky landing, kid.

In December 2004, a maniac walked up on a stage and shot one of the greatest (no matter how much you might hate them, you cannot deny his talent and his contributions to the world of metal) guitarists of modern metal. There was no security that contained him, he just walked right up and shot him in the head. We all know who that is.

You're all telling me that anyone has the right to just walk up on the stage? This fan obviously didn't have an intent to kill Randy but what about on that fateful December day? Did anyone have any idea this maniac had a gun and was about to murder someone ON STAGE? No. It could have been the same situation.

Randy obviously shouldn't have pushed someone off the stage but security wasn't doing their job correctly and a random man was able to trespass and could have caused harm. I read earlier that this guy had been jumping on the stage many times throughout the show and security was unable to contain him each time and Randy probably got sick of the guy and pushed him off. It happens all the time. Slayer does it all the time and no one's died.

This was a freak accident and nothing more. The band could AT LEAST cut a check to the family of the guy who died. If you've ever been to a metal show, you can't pretend you haven't seen the 200+lb security guys football-tackle people off stages. In this case, security didn't do their job, the artist tried to get rid of the offender, and he fell to his death. It's a freak accident.

In the late 80's a Cure fan jumped onstage and killed himself in CA. Between incidents like that one and unfortunatley Darrell Abbott's, and the absolute nonsense that is moshing and the Lamb of God "wall of death" that is why people have steered away from the alternative and metal shows.

Metal fans behaviors just disgusts me deeper and deeper every year. And you all wonder why situations like these occur. Blame the ignorant fans, not the bands.

3 times thru security and finally gets to the guy...gets pushed! Unfortunate death of a metal head enjoying himself but in ni way should a man suffer in prison for this. Hey, Vince Neil killed Razz and left 2 others with brain injuries due to DUI and drives the streets of Vegas recommitting the same crime of over indulgence. This was an accident. Real criminals walk free as others pay!

What happened to Dime?

Ask yourself, would you have done the same thing?

Do you beat the shit out of someone who acts like an idiot and won't leave the stage??

Does this guy have a gun?..a knife? is he drunk and doesn't give a fuck about anyone else but himself??

Not saying Blythe is totally innocent. But you have to consider all the circumstances here. Put yourself in his shoes.

I think this will set a precedent for others bands to follow.

No one on stage..ever. Now all you'll see is a row of 250 pound linebackers wearing yellow shirts, between you and the band.

Never think you're the exception, you are now the rule.

Morons.

This guy will get off. Bands will simply stop going to the Czech Republic if the rule is you can't do anything until the guy actually pulls a knife or gun. By then it's too late and you lose a band member or two. That country needs money more than it does anything else. So this is a shakedown; Randy will pay a fine, someone will get paid and bands will keep going into the Czech Republic. If he ends up in some shit hole cell, getting ass raped daily, no band will ever enter that country again. Money makes the world go round....

If security is failing to do its job then why shouldn't Randy have been able to defend himself? It's his fucking job to be on stage singing every night so what is it about that that makes you morons think you have the right to repeatedly jump on stage & invade their workplace? Fuck everyone else huh? It's all about you & what you want.

I read my long post again and couldn't find the part where I said I like jumping on stages.

Can you point it for me?

I didn't say Randy should not have the right to defend himself.

My post was towards those who think bands should carry weapons on stage.

I would like to know what the family of the 'dead fan' has to say about all this, I'm very curious that if there is one or not. Or the state or something just want money.
Plus the fan hasn't been identified yet. and what about the security?
Fault should be on them too, right?

For all of you who think that band members should be armed on stage, here's something for you to think about:
You're at your local venue catching whatever band is in town. Some guy does manage to get on stage and goes for a member of the band. The other guys stop and pull their pieces. The "fan" manages to get the other guy's gun, and now we have a stand off. What then? Or, he gets the gun, fires wildly, hitting other members of the band, who discharge their weapns, and accidentally hit some spectators who are in the front? Now you've got a HUGE legal clusterfuck about to break loose.
As over-protective as we've become these days, bringing firearms into a venue is bound to end badly, no matter if it's only one person carrying, or everyone is.

/endrant.
