A number of figures within the rock/metal world have commented on the news that LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe was arrested on Wednesday in Prague, Czech Republic in connection with the death of a fan more than two years ago.

Paulo Gregoletto (TRIVIUM): "I hope Randy's situation can be resolved quickly and without him being detained anymore. Very shitty news to start the day!"

Jeff Kendrick (DEVILDRIVER): "Randy Blythe needs to be released soon. Please keep him in your thoughts."

Oderus Urungus (GWAR): "All power out to Randy and our boys in LAMB OF GOD. They are our blood and we stand by them. This whole thing reeks of bullshit."

Well of course everyone in metal bands want him out, what the fuck do you expect them to say? I doubt anyone will have the balls to hope to justice. To arrest someone you need proof, and someone saw something that night.

Did you really just type that? What complete bullshit.

We have TRIALS to determine proof. Anyone can be arrested for just about anything just about anywhere.

According to the news reports, the alleged incident happened on stage. I doubt very seriously he beat someone to death in front of all those witnesses and nothing happened for 2 whole years, no websites were started demanding justice, the internet wasn't flooded with first hand accounts, etc. Seriously - if you witnessed that, would you just forget all about it and go about your business without saying anything?

More likely, he pushed the fan off the stage, and the fan ended up landing on his head, causing a brain hemorrhage that killed him some time later.

If that's the case, then manslaughter is a real stretch. They have to leave some room for these guys to play on a stage without being assaulted by ever knucklehead who thinks his paid admission gives him free license to act like an animal. Furthermore, the security on site have a duty to protect the fans and performers, and they obviously failed to do so. There is also likely some liability for the venue and promoter if their laws are anything like what we have here.

I don't know the whole story, but if he did push the fan off the stage (should be plenty of witnesses-it was a concert after all) and the person died as a result of his actions, he might not be getting out of jail. Whether the death was intentional or not he still has to take responsibility for his actions. Wonder what the laws of that country say about something like this? I obviously meant push him, but I seriously doubt he meant to hurt him. Pretty sad for all.

I have to agree with you on this. If they knew this was a possibility, his management never would have allowed him to go there. It appears that he was never contacted and a warrant was never issued for his arrest before yesterday. The whole thing does kind of stink.

In other words, "Fuck the guy that died! Our friend is a quasi-celebrity and, therefore, above the law." I don't know the details, and if he's innocent, then I hope he gets out, but if he caused somebody's death, he deserves what he gets. I've never heard one word of remorse from Randy about this, whether it was intentional or not. Even Axl Rose felt terrible when that fan died during G n' R's set at Donnington in '88, and he tried his hardest to prevent that.

The audience have NOTHING to do up on the stage, nothing!!
Stage = The band's space, not some idiots that think it's cool to stand there and make an ass of themselves, 'cause that's what every fucker that gets up there does!
We've kicked lots of people off stage at our shows.
Why? Well... There are shitloads of expensive gear up there and i for one don't want any drunken fuck to fall into my drums...
99% of the times they actually ruin the show by stumbling around and we've actually have had to stop a few gigs because of that. They've destroyed our gear... Stepped on pedal boards and stuff like that.

GRAVE do NOT support "fans" or whatever that climb up on the stage.. They'll get kicked down from there faster then they can say tally ho!

Even if Blythe did push the poor guy and caused a lethality as a result of all this - does not the rule of "time lapse" apply in this case? I mean, the incident happened over two years ago, so that is quite a significant period of time passed. And what if he did that, say, 10 years ago and that guy suddenly died just now - would Blythe still be considered a suspect and be arrested over this? Where do you draw the line? It seems Czechs have been stupid enough to patiently wait for LOG to come over to Czech Republic just to catch the singer. WTF?

This situation is clearly stupid.

More relevant to time lapse is how long it took from the alleged incident to his actual time of death.

For all we know the guy died 3 weeks later from something unrelated, and his parents want to blame it on a band in the hopes of obtaining a settlement.

I'm pretty sure Randy didn't have any intention of killing this poor guy. And all things considered, it's entirely possible Randy didn't even know the guy died. He may have not even known he got injured. Like others have mentioned, nobody has really heard about this until now. Also as mentioned, does anyone really think that Randy's management (or himself) would really do a Czech date if they were even aware of this?

Not diminishing the guys death, but I'm guessing his initial getting hurt at the show was considered a relative non-incident. Not that it isn't tragic, but most fans and the band (if they knew) probably chalked it up to "Oh, a fan got hurt." Happens all the time at shows and nobody probably thought a whole lot about it.

Laws are obviously different there, but the courts will handle this and find guilt or lack of accordingly.

The above contains (in part) the following:

"Randy behaved exactly as I expected him to, a son of a bitch who pisses off everyone. He's confirmed by firing up several fans. [Randy] was very irritated when someone decided to join him on stage. At first Randy hit him a lot, then Randy jumped on him to hold him down while he continued singing?

When the fan got up, Randy took him by the hair and threw down quite quickly. It was a good thing the fan was so dazed that he probably felt nothing. It took him a little while to realize what happened and as he struggled to get his breathe back. Randy does behave quite pretentious, but the performance was important to him."

did he deserve to die for it? no way.

regardless of whether you think Blythe is a god or a putz, he, like any human being, needs to be accountable to the law.

people hoping Randy goes free would change their tune if it was their brother or son acting like an idiot on a stage one night -- and got killed for it.

If artist is playing on the stage, how security allowed some "fan" climb to the stage!

This isn't Randy's fault that he defenced himself from fan that came to stage whit out know one's approval! And second thing, why the stage builder allowes these things to happen, I mean.. what if Randy was droped from the stage and his head on some fence etc. what is between stage and fans? bad construction and poor security is my opinion in this thing
