TRIVIUM Drummer Talks Blast-Beat Technique With U.K.'s RHYTHM Magazine - June 27, 2012

Drummer Nick Augusto of Florida metallers TRIVIUM took time out after the band's Download festival performance to share some tips on getting to grips with blast beats with U.K.'s Rhythm magazine. Check out the clip below.

TRIVIUM, AS I LAY DYING, CALIBAN and UPON A BURNING BODY will join forces for a European tour this fall.

TRIVIUM's latest album, "In Waves", sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart — the highest U.S. chart entry of the band's career. The group's previous CD, "Shogun", opened with just under 24,000 units back in October 2008 to debut at No. 23. The effort followed up "The Crusade", which registered a first-week tally of 31,000 copies in October 2006 to enter the chart at No. 25.

I don't see why Trivium gets so much flack....they're all excellent musicians. I'm thinking most of the shit sent their way comes from failed musicians. I can see how it can bruise your ego when some young kid can play circles around you.
Could that be it??

practice a snare roll....then break up the roll between the snare and the ride. then focus on getting your feet in time with your right hand....then bring that left hand back to the snare. do this enough times and it will start to click

and focus on not doing it like a pussy, VERY important. hit hard.

This guy used to drum in a sick ass grindcore band called Maruta, who totally fucking ruled, check them out if you don't know them. Kind of a shame he's peddling this sub-par metalcore dross with Trivium nowadays, but dude certainly knows how to blast with the best of 'em!
