ALICE COOPER Helps Raise More Than $700,000 For Brain Cancer Research - June 25, 2012
According to AliceCooper.com, legendary rocker Alice Cooper made a quick detour from his "No More Mr. Nice Guy" U.S. tour on Sunday, June 24 to attend a fundraising event benefiting the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. OMRF scientists have discovered an experimental compound that has shown effectiveness in shrinking tumors in lab animals, and the proceeds from this event will help pay for the clinical trials needed for people suffering from a deadly form of brain cancer. Alice joined Shooter Jennings and his band on stage at the end of Jennings' performance, ripping through well-received versions of Chuck Berry's "Nadine" and the immortal Cooper classic "School's Out". After the surprise performance, Alice offered for auction a once-in-a-lifetime "On Stage With Alice" package, and legendary University Of Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer provided the winning bid! Barry's bid contributed $50,000 at the urging of David Chernicky (who also won an "On Stage With Alice" auction, having just performed with Alice Saturday night in Atlanta).

Coach Switzer will be joining Alice on stage at an upcoming show this year.

You know that inanely long list of things Alice has done? From being the first to use mounted lights on trusses to the first choreographed rock show to personally killing the peace/love crowd to ...
Well, now you can add saving the world to that list.
the true KING of rock n roll.

Just making one clarification to your otherwise excellent post: that list of Alice's great achievements? It's INSANELY long, not inanely long!

Cheers...

Looking forward to Alice and Maiden this Wednesday night!!!

Hard to imagine this is the same guy, who when I was twelve years old (in '73) that my parents thought would ruin my life. I guess blasting "I love the dead " and "dead babies" didn't help, but I knew what it was then and they know it now. True genius in my opinion.

Yeah, he is. Anyone who enacts his own beheading onstage is already brill. Add to that all of the great songs, the humor and the intelligence behind all of it.. That's awesome, how much they raised for brain cancer research. The Coop is the man.

Living legend, and just adds to it as living legends do.
