D.R.I. Bassist And 'Murder In The Front Row' Co-Author Interviewed (Video) - June 23, 2012
Zoran Theodorovic of Capital Chaos recently conducted an interview with photographer and D.R.I. (DIRTY ROTTEN IMBECILES) bassist Harald "O." Oimoen at downtown Oakland, California bookstore Issues. You can now watch the chat below.

Oimoen and fellow San Francisco Bay Area metal photographer Brian Lew (Whiplash fanzine) have joined forces to create "Murder In The Front Row: Bay Area Bangers And The Birth Of Thrash Metal". Released in December from Bazillion Points Books, this intense look at early hardcore headbangers features some of the first photos of the "Big Four" and their extended family of thrash metal bands. With hundreds of candid, live, and studio shots, Lew and Oimoen celebrate the unique wild-eyed spirit and atmosphere of the historic S.F. Bay Area heavy metal scene: pinpointing clubs (The Old Waldorf, The Stone, Ruthie's Inn, The Omni); hangouts (The Record Vault, the infamous Metallica Mansion); and beloved local figures like fearless stage diver Toby Rage, manager Debbie Abono, and the unrivaled metal ringmaster Paul Baloff of EXODUS.

...only $25 at Amazon. If you're an "old school" metalhead like me who grew up listening to these bands, I urge you to get it. You won't be disappointed.

I'm all about the old school. Gonna get this book.

Harald is too old for the patch-covered denim jacket. It looks silly.

I've been hearing this name for ages, and it's only now i get to see what he looks and sounds like, lol.

Man, the Bay Area movement... it was so long ago. The momentum was tremendous, but it ran out of breath a long time ago too. Maybe decades from now, when most of these names will have faded into oblivion, a similar movement will start again from scratch. But I'm sure I'll still enjoy Seven Churches as much as now or when I first heard it.

i remember seeing a lot of these pics in magazines and on the backs of album covers. getting to see some of the outtakes from the seven churches photo shoot, or even alternate shots of the classic pics is amazing.

harald and brian did a kick ass job! can't wait for the next volume!

Tape trading...discovering new music...playing guitar...smoking out...man, life was sweet in the days of yore.

LOOKING THROUGH IT FOR ME IS LIKE LOOKING THROUGH AN OLD HIGH SCHOOL YEAR BOOK. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS I LIKE THE PEOPLE IN THIS ONE.

HAROLD IS STILL A GOOFY FUCKER BUT A GOOD DUDE WHO STILL SUPPORTS THE BAY AREA SCENE.

RESPECT.
