MOTÖRHEAD's 'The Wörld Is Yours' Cracks U.S. Top 100 - Feb. 16, 2011
MOTÖRHEAD's new album, "The Wörld Is Yours", sold 7,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 94 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous effort, "Motörizer", premiered with 6,400 units back in 2008 to debut at No. 82, while 2006's "Kiss Of Death" registered a first-week tally of 3,500.

"The Wörld Is Yours" was released in North America on February 8. The CD is a vital, scorching statement of intent from the band as they launch Motörhead Music, their very first record label.

Written and performed by Lemmy Kilmister, Philip Campbell and Mikkey Dee in both Los Angeles, California and Wales, with production once again by Cameron Webb, "The Wörld Is Yours" serves to remind everyone that you should never stop questioning or critiquing a society that would surely chew you up and spit you if given half a chance. And with 10 soul-scorching testaments to the unbridled power this world-famous trio continually maintain, "The Wörld Is Yours" delivers some of the finest, most important Motörmusic yet.

Recorded during the late spring, the album's creation was thrown into turmoil by the poor health and sad eventual passing of Philip Campbell's father; the situation dictated that Philip needed to be home during some of the scheduled recording time, so MOTÖRHEAD hired a studio in Wales where Campbell was able to continue working on ideas and record tracks whilst first Mikkey and Lemmy, and then just Lemmy, laid down the rest of the album in L.A. But being MOTÖRHEAD, nothing fazed them, and with "The Wörld Is Yours" the band have triumphed over adversity to produce an absolute stormer of an album.

Yup, he's FINALLY finished. 35 years in the biz, and 7000 albums sold spells the end to his career. What a fucking idiot.

exactly, time to cut his hair, trade in the jeans and boots for a tie & collar, and go sell washers & dryers at Sears now that his "foray" into making it in music is done

It's sad that only 7000 copies cracks the top 100. Years ago, that kind of sales figure would get you an automatic pink slip from your record label.

Still - in this day and age, anything's better than nothing. Sad to say, I haven't got a copy yet due to the &*%$ record store being sold out!!! (But I guess that's a good thing for Lemmy. Either that, or they only ordered 2 freakin' copies).

But I'll buy it eventually. Still waiting for deluxe edition of APD to show up in the mail. Going to see the mighty Motorhead on 2/28. All the haters can SUCK IT!!!!

I was expecting it to be at least in the top 50. Oh well; and here I was holding out hope that the new Crowbar would make it up there somewhere somehow.

Hey Lemmy, why don't you give Fast Eddie Clarke a call? He was the best--and most original guitarist you had!

I don't think Motorhead's success or lack of, was ever defined by record sales.

just a thought... try and not recycle the same album 28 times and maybe people would want to buy it. I don't buy Motorhead albums anymore because I already have 9 and i've got the jist of it now.

Looks like his first day sales keep going up from album to album in the last handful of years. Seems like a great trend to me, especially in this day and age.

For all the haters this Motorhead album is by far better than the last three boring IM ablums, especially better than the current boring Final Frontier one. Keep it going Motorhead becuase your one of the only ones left that can rock in this industry. I think this album might be the best since Inferno. And for the last best Maiden record it was Brave New World, even the CD cover was the best since there most recent. See ya on March 10th in Tempe, AZ Lemmy and road crew!
