IRON MAIDEN To End 'The Final Frontier World Tour' In London - Nov. 20, 2010
Live Nation has announced that due to the overwhelming demand of their fans for tickets which went on sale today for August 5, British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have already added a second show at the London O2 Arena. The additional show is now on sale and will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2011 , marking the end of "The Final Frontier World Tour".

Special arrangements have been made for members of the IRON MAIDEN fan club to get access to the best seats and standing tickets. These held tickets are available to fan club members on a strictly first-come, first-served basis and will be available to the fanclub until 9 a.m. Tuesday or until they are sold out, whichever comes first. To purchase — use this link and enter your U.K. presale code (sent by private message earlier in the week).

IRON MAIDEN's latest album, "The Final Frontier" (EMI), sold 63,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 4.

IRON MAIDEN's previous album, 2006's "A Matter Of Life And Death", opened with 56,000 units to land at No. 9. This was a notable increase from the 40,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, 2003's "Dance of Death" (which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart), and that of "Brave New World", which moved 38,000 copies in June 2000 to land at No. 39 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"The Final Frontier" was IRON MAIDEN's fourth U.K. No. 1 album. The band previously topped the chart in 1982 with "The Number of the Beast", in 1988 with "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" and in 1992 with "Fear of the Dark".

"The Final Frontier" was released in North America on August 17 via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). The effort was made available in a unique limited-edition collectors' "Mission Edition" CD case and features access to extra bonus content, including the director's cut of a video for the edited version of the opening song on the album, entitled "Satellite 15... The Final Frontier"; band "Mission Debrief" interview footage; wallpapers; photos; and the exclusive game "Mission II : Rescue & Revenge". MAIDEN is also for the first time making the album available as an iTunes LP with bonus content as well as the traditional digital format. There is also a limited-edition double picture disc.

The band reunited with long-time MAIDEN producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley in early 2010 at Compass Point Studios, Nassau to record the album and then moved to The Cave Studios in Malibu, California to finish the recording and do the mixing. Compass Point Studio is very familiar to the band, it was where they recorded the "Piece Of Mind" (1983), "Powerslave" (1984) and "Somewhere In Time" (1986) albums.

The USA is much less receptive to the newer material, which is probably why. Blame the "Hurr durr play classicks!!1!" crowd that you're not getting a full tour.

Seriously, fuck all the "Play the classics" d-bags that borderline ruin so many concerts for me. Maiden rules, every album has something unique to love about it, and really, by shouting "play the classics" you show your true colors--- you're not so much a fan of music as you are a fan of reliving your glory years... oh yeah, I know.

I bought the album and it is forgettable for the most... (can anyone of you remember any big hook on this cd and play it back in your head? Didn't think so)

I would gladly trade the cd for a "classic" remastered cd. Too bad, because I loved the previous one: AMOLAD. As for touring, I never had the chance to see them, ever.

The Final frontier sold well because it seemed like the band was making a stand, yet bringing an exciting, futuristic concept album again... I.M. is usually a safe bet, so everybody went out and bought it.

Then, 50% of the public thought it was their best in years, and the other half hated it.

Here is a recap of the track listing:

1- Uh, wtf is that drum beat crap for 4 minutes? ... SKIP!
2- Ah, good song but what a shitty intro/outro
3- Uh, I forgot what that track sounds like...
4- You know what? I forgot the rest of the album 'cause it's just meh. Should have gotten "Somewhere in Time" instead.
5 through 10: who cares

Bonus content: cool video and all... and oh yes, who cares about the special edition?!

To your first question, yeah, the album is full of hooks. here, let me buy you a tasteful ear for music. But your mind probably can't handle a hook any more complex than "breakin' the laaaaw breakin the laaaw...beeeuuuuwww...breakin' the laaaw breakin' the laaaw...beeeeuw beeeeew..."1. It's a mood setting intro to the title track. he's drifing in space being pulled into the sun, and then...well I forgot, your mind can't handle this..2. Complex hooks are too much for you, but yet a simple bang-on-everything intro/outro also sucks. i suppose you hate the long intros too...what DO you like?3. My least favorite on the album, but still better than 99% of anything else out there.5 through ten - the best part and real "meat" of the album. Now how did we both end up liking maiden again....or metal for that matter?

theyearsofdecay, the album is so forgettable, that it averaged 7.8 among Blabbermouth members: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/showreview.aspx?reviewID=2060

Pod, the album already sold quite well so they should tour based on that. In fact, since Brave New World, every album has done better than the last.

I was just joking. TFF is the best album Maiden have ever recorded. I listen to it at least once every day. In fact, it is better than Judas Priest's "Nostradamus". Rock on, Maiden!

hopefully theyll remember to turn janicks guitar off, and maybe force him to wear mittens, so that he can never insult us with his No-talentedness.
I happen to like his hair swinging, and his posing guitar hero work ethic. But jesus, he is so shit. Like the Metal version of Madonna. That otehr deluded no-talent.

TFF is unlistenable, u know it, I know it. AMOLAD was really cool in places, (brighter than a thousand suns, beauty)

DoD for me worse than all the others put together.

I know ill get cussed, but guys and gals, listen to say, Wildest Dreams, and then immediately after, where eagles dare, and tell me theres any comparison.

xx

p.s.

Ill be going to the Berlin show :)

For the last tour supporting a new album, Maiden played AMOLAD in its entirety here in the US, and what boring piece of shit that album was!

Fast forward to this year, and they play just ONE new song from their new album (which is the best since Brave New World, if not better, IMHO), while filling the other 1/2 of their setlist with some of the most boring and drawn out songs from their post-reunion albums, and then finally close the set out with the same goddamn songs that they play on every fucking tour like FOTD, Iron Maiden, NOTB and Running Free.

NOTB I understand because it's one of the few songs that teh kiddiez know here in the States, and probably their most well known overall, but would it kill them to drop any or all of those other songs I mentioned in favor of something a little deeper (and better) in their vast back catalog that they haven't played in years?

And would it also kill them to play MORE than just 14 or 15 songs on each tour?!? Fucking Rush is older than they are and they've been playing upwards of 22 songs on their recent tours from their extensive back catalog, and not just the hits or "popular songs" either!

But whatever... if all they're going to do to the setlist on the second leg of the tour is swap out some post-reunion material for even more obvious songs like The Trooper or 2MTM, I'm glad I won't have to shell out another $100 to sit through it again.

'Somewhere In Time' WAS the last album that I really liked. Fear of the Dark was OK. Iron Maiden can still play and sing, but their albums are not as good as their 80's ones.

1st, Is it just me or was this tour very short?

As a Maiden fan I fall into this camp;
I own all the albums, DVD's, lots & Lots of bootlegs, have seen the band several times, & many times that has meant a road trip & staying at least one night on a motel.

Now that I've clarified that I'm not some casual fan, here are my thoughts:
For as many years as Maiden has been around & the body of work they have created,
I think it would be in the bands & the fans best interests if they changed the way they tour from the standard "package" bill, to just Maiden playing a 3 to a 3 1/2 hour set.
Break the set in two with an intermission.
The band could even limit the number of gigs per week to something like 3-4 per week.

They should do this so they can add more diversity to the setlists, cuz this is my biggest peeve with the band, they have a very stagnant setlist, for a fan like me it means when I go to see them now it's mainly to see the new material, everything else they play is stuff they have had in the set for God knows how long.
I'm not squawking about "ooh ooh play my favorite songs, or play only classics or only play only new stuff".
I think they have soo much strong material that they have never played live, both old & new.
In the case of this current tour, they have only played one track from the new album, that is very Un-Maiden-ish.
This is a band who has believed in what they released & would stand behind it by playing several cuts from their new albums, until now.
Is this sending the message that the bands days are numbered?
I don't know, they laid to rest the rumor that this is the last album, so what gives?
So in closing I'll repeat that they need to consider touring by themselves , satisfying their need to explore their new ideas, making their die-hard & new fans happy, this would allow them to play their more accessible tracks that die-hard & casual fans have come to love, & this would open up the door for them to delve into some stuff that is getting over looked & maybe rediscover just how great these tracks are, also satisfying those of us who don't think any one album, nor song defines this Amazing Band!

If you agree click the Horns!

Clearly the album is a success because it's awesome.

The last thing Iron Maiden would do, is listen to a bunch of people commenting on a site called 'Blabber-mouth'.

If you're not a North American, and you hate the album..then your reason must be genuine.
N.Americans have the WORST taste in music ever! I think the whole world knows that.

i agree with you on the point of Janick, he is shit live..he cant solo for shit.

ive been a die-hard Maiden fan since 1984, i have a huge Maiden collection, but i still cant get my head around the fact that Janick is still in the band, nice guy 'n all(ive met the guy and hes polite and humble), but when i go to see the band, i dont want to see a mediocre guitarist fuck up my favourite guitarists'(Adrian) solo time and time again, then swing a guitar around his head. yes, we do have some fantastic material from Janick on record, but live? meh..

im a little peeved with this date, as i booked tickets for the night before, thinking its their last UK date of the tour!

1 last thing, IMFC is THE best fan club in the world, im no longer in it, but i highly recommend it to anyone, where you get so many good things out of it, like conventions, priority tickets etc

They need to get the original artist doing Eddie. They need to have a better mix of old and new songs (Yes, other than the solo break wildest dreams is lame)
Stop whining about the new material, it might be different than the old but its what keeps them from being the dinosaurs of rock.

The problem is, Derek Riggs not only hates these guys, he also seems to be ashamed of his involvement with them. (for some reason.) Some great artists are fucking crazy.

First, being Canadian, therefore North American, I take offence to the person who said we don't have good taste in music. Fuck you! We're not all the same.

Second, I would also love Maiden to play an evening-with-type show, but I don't think it would happen. I was fortunate to meet Janick earlier this year when they played Montreal, and I asked him that very question. He laughed it off saying like, ''Have you seen our shows? We'd die out there!''. Too bad, 'cause like it was mentioned, their setlist could and should be more varied considering the wealth of material in their catalogue.

Speaking of Janick, I think he's a really good songwriter, but I agree with the fact that he messes up Adrian's solos.

Finally, I really like the new album. I LOVE that intro! Mother of Mercy is stuck in my head after I listen to it, as is El Dorado.

Oh, and I think Dance of Death is the best Maiden album since Bruce and Adrian came back to the band.

Hey, I'm from the U.S. and I fully acknowledge and am disgusted at the musical taste of the masses. How is acknowledging that offensive? Sure, we probably have as many metal fans as, say, Germany or Finland, but we're much more spread out.
