As a band trading on suit-and-tie hypercapitalist imagery, it makes sense that HEWHOCORRUPTS are setting themselves up as premium grind providers — at eight bucks for a seven-minute EP, we're talking Starbucks-grade. Sure, there's a video and a Quicktime interview clip, but that's just the froth on the latte — I'm all for short and sweet when it comes to this sort of hardcore, but man, make it worth sending to the pressing plant!

These guys are on to something, though. In the post-THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN world, attacking hardcore with a demented grind sensibility isn't enough — HEWHOCORRUPTS actually infuse their songs with memorable parts, ludicrous vocals, and no shortage of big hooky pummeling riffs and breakdowns. Their chaos is a bit more controlled, their mayhem still somewhat accessible, more concerned with leveling city blocks than with being overly technical.

For the most part, though, you know what you're getting within the first ten seconds of "The Smell of Money". You just don't get all that much of it, although it's nicely packaged, and the video for "Master of Profits" (a better song than any of the audio tracks here) is flat-out hilarious. The usual suspects will know to check this out; the rest of the world will stay far away. When's Relapse gonna pick these guys up (and admonish the band for ripping off the "corporate death" shtick they were lampooning in 1993)?
